    When Your Calling Changes

What happens when a calling that once lit us up no longer feels right? And what if the thing we’re called to do seems too small to matter? In this episode, I reflect on a quote from Stephen Cope that challenged how I think about life’s purpose. I share my own journey of letting go of an old identity, discovering a new calling, and learning to honour what’s within—even when it doesn’t look the way I expected. I hope this reflection inspires you to slow down, listen inward, and consider what might be calling you forward in this chapter of your life. About Anita Adams I’m Anita Adams, your host and the founder of Joyful Journey, an organization devoted to teaching The Wisdom Way—a practice that helps individuals reconnect with their authentic selves and create lives filled with meaning, well-being, and joy. The Mirror We Hold Up to Ourselves

Travelling through East Africa, I had an uncomfortable encounter with the Maasai people that left me questioning the woman I was choosing to be. What I discovered about the story I was telling myself changed not only how I saw the Maasai women, but how I experienced our future encounters together. In this episode, I share a personal reminder of how our assumptions shape our experiences—and what can happen when we have the courage to look in the mirror with honesty, love, and compassion. Who Are You and What Do You Want?

What happens when the title, role, or identity you’ve built your life around suddenly disappears? In this episode, I share the story of the chapter that changed everything for me—when the organization I had spent nearly two decades building began to collapse, and I realized I no longer knew who I was without it. What began as a daily walk in the forest became a powerful practice of divine nature connection, helping me quiet the noise and listen for the wisdom within. Along the way, I discovered the questions that would change the direction of my life: Who am I? What do I want? And what happens when I trust the answers? This is the story of how I learned to listen inwardly, trust what I heard, and find the courage to take the next step—and ultimately, how The Wisdom Way was born. A Different Kind of Strength

In this episode, I share a profound experience I had with a group of elder rescue horses at a retreat I hosted—and how they helped me see strength in a different way. A circle formed with four horses, six women, and two dogs, all coming together by some unseen force. And in that circle, the horses showed us that strength doesn’t have to be about dominance or power. That experience led me to reflect on my own leadership and the qualities I once believed made a leader “strong”—qualities I didn’t possess. I’ve come to understand that my quieter way of leading—listening, reflecting, creating space, and bringing different perspectives together—is its own kind of strength. It’s what I bring to the circle. This episode asks you to consider: What do you bring that strengthens your circle? Finding Light in the Darkness: Navigating Grief, Loss & Life’s Transitions with Tanya Chomyk

In this episode, I’m joined by Tanya Chomyk, author of Bringing Light to Loss, for a deeply moving conversation about grief, loss, resilience, and finding our way forward when life changes in ways we never expected. Tanya shares her deeply personal journey of losing her infant son and the many years it took to find meaning in that loss. We talk about allowing ourselves to truly feel our emotions, creating anchors to hold onto when life feels unsteady, and learning to have a relationship with grief rather than trying to push it away. Tanya also introduces her powerful distinction between “clean pain” and “dirty pain,” and shares her five-step approach to navigating loss and major life transitions: creating a safe space to feel, practicing self-compassion, finding moments of joy and gratitude, seeking connection when we’re ready, and pacing our pain. This is a conversation about love, loss, healing, and the quiet ways resilience is built over time. And perhaps most importantly, it’s a reminder that we don’t have to see the light right away. Sometimes, we simply need to take the next breath, trust the process, and allow healing to unfold quietly. About Tanya Chomyk Tania Chomyk is a life transition expert, award-winning resilience speaker, and grief educator. With over 30 years of experience in higher education, career development, and personal growth, she helps people move through life’s toughest moments with clarity, courage, and compassion. Her work is rooted in both lived experience and professional expertise. After losing her infant son unexpectedly, Tania’s world shifted. That loss became the spark for a new path—one focused on healing with purpose and supporting others through grief, major life changes, and the journey of finding themselves again. Her debut book, Bringing Light to Loss, is a powerful reflection on grief, love, and the strength it takes to rebuild your life. A portion of proceeds supports the Child Life Program at the Montreal Children’s Hospital, keeping her son’s legacy alive by bringing joy to kids who need it most. When A Hummingbird Interrupted Me

Sometimes the most ordinary moments have a way of getting our attention. In this short reflection, I share two unexpected encounters with a hummingbird that led me to a deeper question about trust. As I explored the gap between what I say I believe and what I actually trust when life feels uncertain, I was reminded that perhaps the invitation isn't to strive harder, but to soften my grip and trust the unfolding. I hope this story offers you a gentle pause to reflect on your own journey. I Thought I Was Chasing Success: The Story Behind My Spiritual Journey

If you had told me fifteen years ago that I'd one day be writing books, hosting a podcast, and talking openly about my spiritual journey, I would have laughed. The truth is, I didn't begin my spiritual journey because I was searching for God. I began because I wanted to be more successful in business. In this episode, I share the unexpected story of how curiosity, a remarkable woman named Debbi, and a coach who introduced me to the idea of "God Walks" quietly changed the direction of my life. Looking back, I can see that what I thought I was searching for wasn't success at all. It was peace. Whether you're on your own spiritual journey, simply curious, or wondering if there's something more, I hope this story encourages you to reflect on what first opened the door for you. The Surrender Experiment: Desire, Surrender, and The Space Between

I recently finished reading The Surrender Experiment by Michael A. Singer, and it stirred up some deep reflection for me around desire, surrender, and trust in life. I deeply resonate with Singer’s message of letting go and saying yes to life, and I can see many places in my own life where things didn’t unfold as planned—but led to something I never could have orchestrated myself. At the same time, it brought me back to something I teach in Whispers of the Soul. I don’t believe our first step is letting go of desire. I believe it’s discovering what we truly want. Without that clarity, we risk surrendering not to life, but to other people’s expectations. In this episode, I share personal stories and explore what it means to both lean in and let go at the same time—honouring our desires while releasing attachment to how they unfold. I also talk about what it looks like to begin your own “surrender experiment” in everyday life. Finding Joy Through Compassion

There’s a common belief that joy comes from the absence of pain. But over the years, life has shown me something very different. Joy and sorrow can exist side by side. In this episode, I explore compassion as a pathway through pain and suffering — not by denying our grief or heartache, but by softening toward ourselves and others in the midst of it. Inspired in part by the beautiful wisdom shared in The Book of Joy by the Dalai Lama and Archbishop Desmond Tutu, I reflect on how compassion can ease suffering, deepen connection, and open the door to greater joy. I also share simple ways we can practice compassion in everyday life through presence, kindness, listening, and small acts of care that create meaningful ripples in the world around us. This episode concludes with a gentle guided meditation designed to help you deepen compassion for yourself, for others, and for the world we share. Wherever you may be on your journey right now, I hope this conversation offers a soft place to land. Healing Through Surrender, Stillness & Truth with Isabelle Daikeler

In this deeply moving and expansive conversation, I sit down with wellness advisor, fitness and nutrition expert, and co-creator of Shakeology, Isabelle Daikeler. Isabelle shares her extraordinary journey through what she beautifully calls the “boulders” of her life—moments that forced her to slow down, surrender, and ultimately reconnect with a deeper intelligence within. From a devastating car accident in her early twenties, to a mysterious illness, to a decade of chronic pain after the birth of her son, her story is a powerful reminder of the resilience of the human spirit—and the wisdom of the body. What stood out most for me in this conversation is the simplicity of what she teaches. In a world that constantly pushes us to do more, Isabelle brings us back to something so beautifully basic: one breath. We explore: Why slowing down is essential for healing and spiritual awakening The difference between reacting and responding—and how one breath creates that space The body’s innate intelligence and the role of somatic release in healing What true surrender actually looks like (and why it’s not something you have to force) A refreshing and grounded definition of authenticity: telling the truth This conversation affirmed something I’ve been feeling deeply lately—that we don’t need more complexity. We don’t need to strive harder. What we truly need is the willingness to be present, to feel, and to trust. If you take anything from this episode, let it be this: You don’t need hours of practice, special tools, or the perfect environment. You can begin right here, right now… with a single, intentional breath. As always, I’d love to hear what resonated with you. And if this conversation speaks to your heart, please share it with someone who might need it. About Isabelle Daikeler Isabelle Daikeler is a wellness advisor, fitness and nutrition expert, and co-creator of Shakeology and several BODi programs, known for helping people reduce stress and live more authentically through a grounded blend of mindfulness, emotional intelligence, and spiritual well-being. Her spiritual path began at 22 after a devastating car accident left her unable to walk, leading her to heal through alternative medicine, meditation, and a self-designed recovery that awakened her to the power of the mind-body-spirit connection. For over two decades, she has guided celebrities, athletes, and everyday individuals in reconnecting with their true selves, cultivating inner peace, and living in alignment with their highest purpose. In this episode, I share what it really means to trust the whispers of your soul and step into the unknown—even when it feels uncomfortable or uncertain. Through personal stories and reflections, I explore why the most aligned and fulfilling paths often require us to let go of what feels safe, and how life has consistently unfolded in ways even better than I imagined when I chose to trust. I’ll also walk you through three simple but powerful steps to help you build the belief that the best is yet to come, so you can move forward with greater confidence, clarity, and courage. What I Learned in 24 Hours of Silence

In this episode, I share a very real and slightly imperfect experiment—a 24-hour silent retreat I gave myself in an effort to reset, unplug, and create more space in my life. What unfolded wasn’t about doing it “right,” but about being honest, human, and present. Through quiet moments in nature and a surprising realization about happiness, I reflect on how slowing down has transformed my life over the past six years. I explore how true joy isn’t found in doing more or having everything figured out, but in noticing the simple, everyday moments that are already here. When Logic Says Yes but Your Soul Says No

In this episode, I share a personal story about a major crossroads in my life—when the logical choice seemed obvious, but something deeper inside me was saying no. After nearly two decades building a business, I faced a decision: rebuild what I had worked so hard to create, or walk away and step into an unknown path with no clear roadmap. Logic said one thing. My soul said another. In this conversation, I reflect on how our inner wisdom often speaks quietly—through feelings of contraction or expansion, heaviness or lightness—and how learning to listen to those signals can guide us toward a more aligned life. If you’ve ever felt torn between what makes sense on paper and what feels true in your heart, this episode is an invitation to pause, listen inward, and begin trusting the whisper within. From Intuition to Inner Authority: Awakening Intuitive Intelligence with Dr. Ricci-Jane Adams

In this powerful and illuminating conversation, I sit down with Dr. Ricci-Jane Adams, founder of the Institute for Intuitive Intelligence, to explore a radically different way of understanding intuition. Ricci-Jane challenges the belief that intuition is a rare gift and instead invites us to see it as an innate human capacity—one that can be refined into what she calls intuitive intelligence. We talk about inner authority, self-trust, and our connection to the unified field of consciousness, as well as the vital role of the nervous system and her four S’s: stillness, silence, solitude, and slowness. Throughout our conversation, we dive into the relationship between fear, the subconscious, and spiritual growth, and why fear is not something to eliminate but a messenger guiding us back to truth. Ricci-Jane shares profound insights on spiritual self-esteem, embodiment, and why developing intuitive intelligence is inseparable from healing and personal responsibility. If you’ve ever struggled to trust your inner knowing or found yourself looking outside yourself for answers, this episode offers a grounded, compassionate invitation to come home to your own wisdom. About Dr. Ricci-Jane Adams Dr Ricci-Jane Adams is the Founder of the Institute for Intuitive Intelligence®. Ricci-Jane shows us how to 'un-f' our intuition, activate our inner authority, and trust ourselves, so we can create wildly successful lives. Ricci-Jane resides in Melbourne, Australia, and is the author of Spiritually Fierce, Superconscious Intuition and Love Notes to the Divine. She has a doctorate from the University of Melbourne. She is a Transpersonal Psychotherapist and has devoted over twenty-five years to her spiritual awakening. You’ve Got God All Wrong: A GodTalk Conversation with Neale Donald Walsch

In this deeply meaningful episode of Joyful Journey Podcast, I sit down with someone whose work has profoundly shaped my spiritual path — Neale Donald Walsch. Author of Conversations with God and more than 40 books on contemporary spirituality, Neale joins me to explore his newest book, GodTalk: Experiences of Humanity’s Connection with a Higher Power. This conversation felt less like an interview and more like a sacred exchange — one that reminded me, again and again, that we are never as alone or disconnected as we sometimes believe. Together, we explore the powerful idea that we are all already in conversation with God — we’re simply calling it something else. Neale shares why it was so important to include real-life stories from people around the world in GodTalk, and how divine guidance often shows up in unexpected, even seemingly trivial ways. We dive into his six-step process for experiencing a two-way relationship with the Divine, unpacking themes of possibility, worthiness, willingness, wakefulness, acceptance, and discernment — and how fear versus love is the ultimate compass. This episode is filled with wisdom, humour, and heart. From listening to the “tummy test,” to trusting feelings as the language of the soul, to Neale’s unforgettable moment on the Today Show when he distilled God’s message to humanity into five words — “You’ve got me all wrong” — this conversation invites us to soften, open, and listen more deeply. If you’ve ever wondered whether a personal, direct connection with the Divine is possible for you, this episode is a gentle (and joyful) reminder: the conversation is already happening. About Neale Donald Walsch Neale Donald Walsch has written 40 books on contemporary spirituality and its practical application in everyday life, including his new book GodTalk: Experiences of Humanity’s Connections with a Higher Power, a book in the Common Sentience book series. Neale is the bestselling author of the Conversations with God series, which seven of the nine books made the New York Times bestseller list. Book One remained on that list for 134 weeks. His titles have been translated into 37 languages and have been read by millions of people around the world. https://nealedonaldwalsch.com Book Links to Buy GodTalk Amazon: https://amzn.to/3O0ud1c Barnes and Noble: https://bit.ly/3KjN9pz About Anita Adams I’m Anita Adams, your host and the founder of Joyful Journey, an organization devoted to teaching The Wisdom Way—a practice that helps individuals reconnect with their authentic selves and create lives filled with meaning, well-being, and joy. When Awareness Melts the Ice: Transmuting Pain Through Presence

In this episode, I share some of my deepened learnings around awareness, presence, and how emotional pain can become a powerful doorway to awakening. I explore what happens when sadness, frustration, or anger arise without a clear reason—and how easy it is to judge ourselves for feeling the way we do. For many years, I believed the way through these emotions was to analyze them, trace them back to their origins, and try to understand why they were there. While there is value in self-inquiry, I’ve come to realize that it’s not always necessary—and often not the most helpful place to begin. In this episode, I invite you into a gentler practice: acknowledging emotions as they arise, without analyzing, judging, or trying to fix them. Drawing on Eckhart Tolle’s teachings around presence and the pain body, I share how simple awareness can begin to transmute emotional pain—much like warmth melting ice. We explore: Why resistance keeps emotions stuck What true acceptance really means (and what it doesn’t) How presence creates the spaciousness needed for clarity and inspired action Why wisdom can only be accessed in the present moment If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed by your emotions or unsure how to move through them, this episode offers a compassionate reminder: you don’t need to strive or fix anything. Awareness itself is enough to begin the shift. And it’s in that awareness—quiet, open, and present—where wisdom speaks.
