The Cost of Being the One Everyone Counts On
What happens when you become the person everyone counts on? At work, you are dependable. At home, you take care of everyone. People know they can call you, rely on you, and trust that you will get things done. But over time, being the reliable one can come with a cost. In this episode of the Jo Willow Rose Podcast, I share my own experience of learning to create more balance in my life and why hiring a life and business coach helped me rethink how I was prioritizing my career, relationships, and personal life. I also share the story of Amanda, a successful leader with ten direct reports who was equally relied upon at home. She was capable, successful, and always available, even while on vacation. Behind all of that responsibility, her life had become overwhelming and chaotic. We talk about boundaries, the pressure that comes with being highly capable, and what can happen when everyone becomes accustomed to you always being available. The episode closes with a brief meditation, an affirmation for the week, and a final blessing. If you are usually the strong one, the dependable one, or the person everyone calls, this conversation is for you. 💚
