    Read: Luke 6:27-36 “Muffie!” yelled two-year-old Reya as she toddled into the living room. She plunked down on the floor next to Muffin, the family dog. Reya reached out a chubby hand and pulled Muffin’s fluffy brown tail. Muffin didn’t bite or even growl. She just moved away as quickly as she could, lying down by the fireplace. Reya followed. She tugged on Muffin’s ear. “Nice doggie,” she cooed. Muffin still didn’t growl or bite. Instead, she licked Reya’s knee with her rough tongue. “Careful, Reya,” said Mom. She walked over, gently loosened the little girl’s hand, and helped her stroke the dog’s head. “Be nice to Muffin.” “Why does Muffin put up with all that torture?” asked Charlotte, who was sitting on the sofa with a book. “No matter how many times Reya pulls her tail or ears, Muffin puts up with it and doesn’t even growl at her.” “Muffin loves Reya, just like she loves the rest of our family,” Mom replied. Charlotte nodded. “Muffin sure is a good dog. I wouldn’t be so nice if I were her!” “We’re blessed to have a faithful dog who is so loving and patient with Reya,” said Mom. She smiled as Reya laid her head down on Muffin’s back. “Muffin is a good example of how we all should treat other people—even those who don’t treat us well.” “Like when people are mean to us?” Charlotte asked. “Yes,” said Mom. “We need to do what the Bible teaches and show them love. Instead of trying to get even, we need to talk with them and resolve our issues in a calm way. Many times, people who hurt us don’t mean to—just like Reya doesn’t mean to hurt Muffin. But even when they’re mean to us on purpose, Jesus wants us to do good to them. He died to save us from sin when we were His enemies, and He wants us to treat others with the same kind of love. It’s not easy, but He promises to help us show His love to everyone.” Charlotte smiled. “Love like Muffin’s?” Mom smiled too. “Love even greater than that. Jesus is the only one who can give us humans the kind of love we need to treat others the way we’d like to be treated ourselves.” –Wanda E. Brunstetter How about you? Do you treat others the way you’d want to be treated? The key verse for today is called the Golden Rule, and it’s one of Jesus’s greatest commands. It can be hard to follow when someone treats you badly, but remember that Jesus was treated badly too. He died on a cross so He could save you! Trust Him to fill your heart with His love so you can treat others the way He would. Today’s key verse: Do for other people what you would like to have them do for you.     Your Daily Prayer - A Prayer for Untangling from the Stress of Worry

    Every new day arrives carrying the potential for disruption. A single phone call, an unexpected diagnosis, a notice at work, an accident — and a carefully laid plan can unravel before noon. Life will never be worry-free or perfectly manageable, and Jesus never promised it would be. What He did promise, on the night before His own crucifixion, is something far more durable than smooth circumstances: In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world. John 16:33 is bookended by two gifts. An offer of peace opens it, and an encouragement to take heart closes it. Between them sits the most honest acknowledgment in Scripture that trouble is simply part of life on earth. The messy parts, the stressors, the outcomes of illness and lack and worry and danger — these are ultimately in God's hands, not ours. Philippians 4:6-7 shows us the practical path from anxiety to that peace: prayer, petition, and thanksgiving, bringing our actual concerns before God rather than carrying them silently. Isaiah adds that the minds steadfastly fixed on God will be kept in perfect peace, because they trust in Him. Prayer does not instantly erase circumstances. But it casts our cares at the feet of Jesus, reframes our perspective, and makes room to receive the rest He has been offering all along: Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Today's Bible Verse "I have told you these things so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world." — John 16:33, NIV Ponder Today Jesus was honest about trouble before He offered peace. He did not promise a worry-free life. He promised that His peace would be available within the trouble, and that He has already overcome whatever we are currently facing. The peace of God is accessed through prayer and thanksgiving, not through problem-solving. Philippians 4:6-7 does not tell us to figure out our anxious situations — it tells us to bring them to God. The peace that follows transcends our ability to understand or engineer it. A steadfast mind is a protected mind. Isaiah 26:3 connects perfect peace directly to a mind that is fixed on God and trusting in Him. Where we anchor our attention during stressful seasons determines what we experience in them. Prayer reframes perspective even when it does not change circumstances. Casting our cares at the feet of Jesus does not necessarily resolve the situation, but it unbundens the heart and restores the hope and clarity needed to keep walking in His will. A Prayer for You Today Dear Lord, I am feeling a lot of stress lately. There is always so much on my mind, more than I can handle on my own, and too many demands pulling at me from every direction. I know I am putting too much pressure on myself, but it is hard to juggle caring for my own health, loving the people in my life well, and meeting all my responsibilities at work and home. I know You have given me this one earthly life, and I want to live it gratefully, not begrudgingly. Please help me unload the worries that stress me out, and help me rest amid uncertainty, because I am certain You can work all things for good. Show me what You desire for my path. Give me the strength to do what You desire rather than what overloads and tears me down. Fill me with the reassurance of Your inexplicable peace. I give it all to You, Lord, with a thankful heart.     Creation Moments on Oneplace.com - Intelligence Is Built into the Creation

    Those who believe that the universe, the earth and everything on it are the result of mindless evolution are hard-pressed to explain the origin of intelligence. Some even try to argue that there is no such thing as intelligence, saying that we only think that certain things reflect intelligence. As we learn more about the world, it takes an even greater faith to believe in evolution.The incredible structure of DNA and how it works is one example. Scientists have now demonstrated, though they did not intend to do so, that DNA is itself infused with intelligence. In 1994, it was discovered that DNA could be used as a computer. Since then, much has been learned about the computing power of DNA.For example, how can DNA be used to solve the problem of finding a flight path between seven cities so that each city is visited only once? To solve the problem, researchers assign a numerical value to individual strands of DNA. Through a series of steps, they allow the strands of DNA to interact with each other, saving the results after each step. An electronic computer can solve a math problem with 30 clauses and fifty variables in 1.6 million steps. A DNA computer can solve the same problem in only 91 steps!DNA computers would not be possible unless intelligence was built into the very fabric of the creation.
