Episode #8: USA TODAY's Washington Bureau Chief Susan Page
When GHSA CEO Jonathan Adkins started “The Intersection” podcast, it was based on a simple idea: Interesting conversations with fun people he wants to take to lunch. You can’t get more interesting than someone who’s written bestselling books, moderated a vice-presidential debate – and even been parodied on Saturday Night Live! In a light and quick-flowing chat, USA Today Washington Bureau Chief Susan Page and Jonathan explore how women create change in both road safety and world politics, the rapid evolution of the media landscape, and how common interests can connect two world leaders separated by an ocean and decades of history. Jonathan adores Susan and her books so much that he’s bought 10 copies to give away! Listen to the episode to hear how you can receive a free copy of her latest book, which is about Queen Elizabeth and is titled "The Queen and Her Presidents: The Hidden Hand That Shaped History."

Episode #9: Two CEOs Reconnect
GHSA CEO Jonathan Adkins first met Jeanne Allen in 1995 when he was a student at Dickinson College and she was a recent alumna speaking at a school event. He had no idea at the time how much she would influence his professional journey. Jeanne is now the founder and CEO of the Center for Education Reform and the author of the new book, “The Education Avengers: How and Why a New Class of Heroes Is Fighting America’s Biggest Battle.” What impresses Jonathan most is how Jeanne shares compelling stories of parents and children trying to overcome challenges – an example he believes other advocates could use more often in their work. When they meet at “The Intersection,” Jeanne encourages road safety experts to ensure they’re reaching school principals and teachers, because they have the most influence at the community level – even more than elected officials and superintendents.

In the latest episode of Jonathan Adkins’ podcast, The Intersection, Waymo Chief Marketing Officer Suzanne Philion offers a firsthand look at how autonomous vehicle technology is evolving — and what it will take to earn broader public trust. Recorded from inside Waymo’s new Ojai, a purpose-built autonomous robotaxi, the conversation explores the company’s approach to safety, customer experience, market expansion and the practical challenges of bringing driverless transportation to more communities. Philion also discusses how Waymo is communicating the benefits of autonomous mobility to riders, policymakers and the public at a time when expectations for safety, reliability and transparency remain high. One notable data point from the discussion: Waymo reports that its autonomous vehicles are involved in 92% fewer crashes that cause serious or fatal injuries compared with human drivers under similar driving conditions.
