ACIM | The Root of Emotion, Pt 4, Facing Fear Without Disguise

https://AlisonAnton.substack.com - Alison Anton of the ForgiveNest Podcast outlines a guided meditation for working with emotions as a deeper application of ACIM lessons. She explains the “correction of fear” steps from A Course in Miracles to identify any afflicted emotion as fear. She then explains how separating the emotion from the thought that goes with it breaks an underlying cycle that keeps us in a reactionary state. The same process can be used for physical pain, and she notes a future deeper-dive program on these practices and Course-based forgiveness. ACIM Meditation | How to Work with Pain and Emotion

Alison Anton of the ForgiveNest Podcast presents a guided ACIM-based meditation to work with emotion, pain and reactions by bringing awareness into the body while remembering the body is not the self but an instrument for healing. The practice helps listeners consciously activate grief/sadness, anger/frustration, and finally a chosen area of physical pain, using a “mental story” to evoke the feeling and then dropping the narrative to focus on raw bodily sensation (location, texture, temperature, feeling). Participants are invited to notice underlying fear and guilt, take Jesus’ hand, and use Course-based statements, with options to pause if overwhelmed. ACIM | The Root of Emotion, Pt 3, Fear is a Many Splintered Thing

Alison Anton of the ForgiveNest Podcast continues her Course-based series “The Root of All Emotion” by focusing on fear as rooted in the original “attack thought” that seeks autonomy and separation from oneness. She explains projection as a fragmented perception that generates fear and guilt, which fragments further outward and multiplies into many afflicted emotions (e.g., rage, grief, jealousy, depression), reinforcing the illusion of attack… unless someone chooses to stop. Using a visual of projection as an empty shell, Alison notes that external reality reflects attack thoughts placed in the mind’s screen. She then outlines training methods: meditating by conjuring emotions via recall, and responding to temptation as emotions arise, using meditation to recognize and change the underlying thought so emotions lose their seeming substance. From there, peace becomes accessible, with Jesus’ guidance. ACIM | The Root of Emotion, Pt 2, Attack On the "Other"

Alison Anton of the ForgiveNest Podcast continues her ACIM-based series “The Root of All Emotion,” focusing on attack thoughts as projection. Alison states that projection requires guilt and an “other”, first projected onto God, then displaced onto people and situations to hide deep intrapersonal guilt that sustains fear, time, and a cycle of punishment. She describes emotions as mind-generated thoughts, translated through the subtle and gross body as feeling and emotion as we know it. ACIM | The Root of Emotion, Pt 1, The Authority Problem

Alison Anton introduces a ForgiveNest Podcast series on emotion in the body through the lens of A Course in Miracles, arguing that emotions are expressions of a deeper, intentional chain of “miscreation” in the mind. In part one, she frames a three-part miscreation process: a driving thought of arrogance (wanting to be the author of oneself and reality rather than accepting being created by God), a will toward ignorance (choosing to obscure or forget God and true identity), and volition expressed as ‘attack thoughts’. These attack thoughts generate guilt, fear, and an expectation of punishment, underpinning projection, the idea of “the other,” and the illusion of bodies. She previews part two on projection and presents forgiveness as the solution. Timestamps 00:00 Emotion and the Body 01:49 Why This Matters 04:12 Miscreation Framework 05:58 Arrogance as the Root 09:19 Will to Ignore Truth 12:44 Attack Thoughts Begin 15:07 Cycle of Guilt and Fear 16:46 Recap and Next Steps 19:55 Closing and Part Two Read the full transcript here: https://AlisonAnton.substack.com Podcast Category: Faith and Spirituality ACIM Quotes and Prayers: Note: Alison Anton uses the Complete and Annotated Edition (CE) of A Course in Miracles. ACIM Meditation | Healing Our Punishment of the Body

Alison Anton from the ForgiveNest Podcast guides a meditation aimed at healing “attack thoughts” used to punish the body that are linked to physical illness. Alison emphasizes in this meditation that the body can be transformed by the Holy Spirit into an instrument for healing. She briefly describes two Course-based causes of sickness: the body as a device made to obscure God and the Kingdom, and the guilt-driven punishment thoughts projected onto oneself and others. The practice emphasizes that the body is not the self, but invites participants to notice how condemning thoughts affect the body. The meditation concludes by extending healing to someone else, using the affirmation “I allow my body to be an instrument of Your healing”. This edition is based on the original handwritten notes of Helen Schucman, scribe of A Course in Miracles. Publisher: Circle of Atonement. The body was not made by love. But love does not condemn it and can use it lovingly, respecting what the Son of God has made and using it to save him from illusions. Would you not have the instruments of separation reinterpreted as means for salvation and used for purposes of love? [ACIM CE T-18.VI.4:5-7] Health is the natural state of anything whose interpretation is left to the Holy Spirit, Who perceives no attack on anything. Health is the result of relinquishing all attempts to use the body lovelessly. It is the beginning of the proper perspective on life, under the guidance of the one Teacher Who knows what life is, being the Voice for Life Itself. [ACIM CE T-8.VII.13:4-6] Let [the body] have healing as its purpose. Then will it send forth the message it received, and by its health and loveliness proclaim the truth and value that it represents. [ACIM CE T-27.I.11:4-7] Father, I allow my body to be an instrument of Your healing. This is Your way of making unlimited what I have limited. In this sense my body becomes a temple to You, because Your Voice abides in it by directing the use to which I put it. [based on ACIM CE T-8.VI.10:4-7] Remember that the Holy Spirit interprets the body only as a means of communication. … The ego separates through the body. The Holy Spirit reaches through it to others. [ACIM CE T-8.VI.2:1-4] If you use the body for this and only for this, you cannot use it for attack. In the service of uniting, it becomes a beautiful lesson in communion, which has value until communion is. [ACIM CE T-8.VI.3:5-6] This is a public episode. ACIM | Gold-Colored Glasses of Forgiveness

In this episode of the ForgiveNest Podcast Alison Anton explores why ACIM forgiveness doesn’t cross over with conventional forgiveness. Alison presents Course-based forgiveness as wearing “gold-colored glasses” that overlay a new vision onto worldly perception, temporarily representing truth and training the mind toward ultimate reality without denying that errors occur or require correction in local reality. She defines local reality as the perceived world that seems real, and ultimate reality as the truth ACIM points to, where everyone remains as God created them. She discusses the very challenging teaching that Jesus’s crucifixion and bodily attack does not justify anger because what is destructible is not real. This edition is based on the original handwritten notes of Helen Schucman, scribe of A Course in Miracles. Publisher: Circle of Atonement. Forgiveness must be practiced, for the world cannot perceive its meaning, nor provide a guide to teach you its beneficence. There is no thought in all the world which leads to any understanding of the laws it follows or the thought which it reflects. [ACIM CE W-134.13:1-2] Forgiveness is the means by which the truth is represented temporarily. It lets the Holy Spirit make exchange of pictures possible, until the time when aids are meaningless and learning done. [ACIM CE T-27.IV.5:1-6] There is little doubt that one body can assault another and can even destroy it. But if destruction itself is impossible, then anything that is destructible cannot be real. Therefore, its destruction does not justify anger. [ACIM CE T-6.I.8:2-4] You are not asked to be crucified, because that was part of my own teaching contribution. You are merely asked to follow my example in the face of much less extreme temptations to misperceive, and not to accept them falsely as justifications for anger. [ACIM CE T-6.I.12:1-2] And as a man, I did not attempt to counteract error with knowledge so much as to correct error from the bottom up. Thus, whenever you refuse to misperceive you are indeed behaving as I behaved. [ACIM CE T-3.VI.16:2-5] This is a public episode. ACIM | Wake Up In the Dream, Not From the Dream

Alison Anton of the ForgiveNest Podcast for A Course in Miracles explains that awakening from the dream entirely is not the first goal; instead, an early milestone is recognizing throughout the day, “I’m dreaming this”, similar to lucid dreaming’s in-dream awareness. She describes stages: first realizing life is a dream, then acknowledging “I’m choosing to dream this,” which reveals the mind as the dream’s maker. In aligning with Jesus and the Holy Spirit, the purpose of this lucid awareness becomes forgiveness, extending love, and allowing the Holy Spirit’s “happy dreams” to gently lead toward waking. Miracles are framed as healing, helpfulness, and seeing holiness beyond bodies. She concludes with a passage from the Psychotherapy Supplement for A Course in Miracles that likens advanced healers who delay final awakening to Bodhisattvas, staying to help others awaken through “kindly dreams.” Read the full transcript here: https://AlisonAnton.substack.com Podcast Category: Faith and Spirituality Episode Timestamps: 00:00 ACIM Quote 00:30 Podcast Intro 01:34 First Milestone Recognize Dreaming 02:18 Lucid Dreaming Parallel 05:14 Mind Training Steps 06:51 Choose Forgiveness Goal 07:16 Holy Spirit Happy Dreams 09:32 Miracles, Healing, Service 10:58 Bodhisattva Healers Passage 12:49 Closing Reflections Outro ACIM Quotes and Prayers: Note: Alison Anton uses the Complete and Annotated Edition (CE) of A Course in Miracles. The happy dreams the Holy Spirit brings are different from the dreaming of the world, where one can merely dream he is awake. The dreams forgiveness lets the mind perceive do not induce another form of sleep so that the dreamer dreams another dream. His happy dreams are heralds of the dawn of truth upon the mind. They lead from sleep to gentle waking, so that dreams are gone. [ACIM CE W-140.3] There are some in this world who have come very close, but they have not accepted the gift entirely in order to stay and let their understanding remain on earth until the closing of time. They could hardly be called professional therapists. They are the Saints of God. They are the Saviors of the world. Their image remains because they have chosen that it be so. ACIM | Understanding from the Inside

In this episode of the ForgiveNest Podcast, Alison Anton delves into the distinction between perception and knowledge in A Course in Miracles. Alison explains that the concept of knowledge according to the Course is of God, timeless and certain, contrasted with perception, which is inherently uncertain and variable. Key points include the role of right-perception in understanding our brothers and as the stepping stone to knowledge. The episode also features a practical exercise for seeing our brothers as they truly are, a crucial step in the Atonement process. Watch and read the full transcript here: AlisonAnton.substack.com Podcast Category: Faith and Spirituality Timestamps 00:00 Introduction to Perception Versus Knowledge 00:19 Understanding Perception and Knowledge 01:12 Exercises for Correct Perception 02:28 Degrees of Perception 03:30 True Perception and Knowledge 05:58 Miracles and Right Perception 08:17 Recognizing Our Brothers 10:32 Practical Application and Conclusion ACIM Quotes & Prayers: Note: Alison Anton uses the Complete and Annotated Edition (CE) of A Course in Miracles. This edition is based on the original handwritten notes of Helen Schucman, scribe of A Course in Miracles. Publisher: Circle of Atonement. …you must get your perceptions straightened out before you can know anything. [ACIM CE T-3.V.1:4] Misperception produces fear, and true perception induces love. Neither produces certainty because all perception varies. That is why it is not knowledge. [ACIM CE T-3.V.2:6-8] True perception is the basis for knowledge, but knowing is the affirmation of truth. [ACIM CE T-3.V.2:6-9] The miracle is a way of perceiving, not a way of knowing. It is the right answer to a question, but you do not ask questions at all when you know. Questioning delusions is the first step in undoing them. The miracle, or the right answer, corrects them. [ACIM CE T-3.V.3-4] You know when you have ceased to ask questions. [ACIM CE T-3.V.4:7] Visions are the natural perception of the spiritual eye, but they are still corrections. The spiritual eye is symbolic, and therefore not a device for knowing. It is, however, a means of right perception, which brings it into the proper domain of the miracle but not of revelation. [ACIM CE T-3.V.6:1-3] So the spiritual eye is what we use for true perception, and true perception is what we use (ultimately) for revelation — in other words knowledge. If our faculties of clairvoyance are heightened or if we tend toward deep-level visions, we might confuse these with revelation. We might think this is knowledge. But again, we have to recognize that if we perceive anything at all — even if it’s something we see with our inner eye versus our physical eye — if we see at all it’s not knowledge. The last part of this section is truly important for us as well. Jesus brings it back around to that in order to know God, we have to know God’s Sons, who are our brothers. Through our fear-based mis-perception we’ve forgotten who each other is, and have made us into strangers. It is because you have made him into a stranger that you are afraid of him. What is he to you? He is your brother. What else do you need to know? But do know that. This is not a matter of perception but a fact. Perceive him correctly, so that you can know him. [ACIM CE T-3.V.10:5-11] Jesus, help me see my brother [name] as he really is, and thus release both him and me. [ACIM CE T-3.V.10:13] There are no strangers in God’s creation. [CE T-3.V.12:1] He recognizes them perfectly. [CE T-3.V.12:5] When they do not recognize each other, they do not recognize Him. [CE T-3.V.12:6] This is a public episode. This course is a mind-training course. Good students assign study periods for themselves. [ACIM CE T-3.I.1:1-3] You vaguely know that the course is intended for some sort of preparation. But are you prepared? [ACIM CE T-3.I.1:8-9] When it occurs in the literal sense, it is a temporary device, agreed on beforehand, to check the miscreative activities of a strong but misdirected will. [ACIM CE T-3.I.2:2] The person himself is a poor learner by definition, but only as a step toward changing from a bad to a good one. [ACIM CE T-3.I.2:4] Mental retardation can also be used, however, as a maladaptive defense, if the wrong (or attack) side is employed. ²This produces the “pseudo-retardation syndrome,” [ACIM CE T-3.I.3:1-2] You may well be using this defense as you read this course. This represents a joint attack on both yourself and me, because it renders your mind weak and mine incompetent. [ACIM CE T-3.I.3:3-4] Remember, this puts you in a truly fearful position. If you cannot understand either your own mind or mine, you do not know what is really willed. [ACIM CE T-3.I.3:5-6] The next part of this course rests too heavily on the earlier part not to require its study. Without this, you will become much too fearful when the unexpected does occur to make constructive use of it. [ACIM CE T-3.I.4:1-2] The reason why a solid foundation is necessary at this point is because of the highly likely confusion of “fearful” and “awesome,” which most people do make. [ACIM CE T-3.I.5:1] The next step, however, does involve the direct approach to God Himself. It would be most unwise to start on this step at all without very careful preparation, or awe will surely be confused with fear, and the experience will be more traumatic than beatific. [ACIM CE T-3.I.6:5-6] Healing is of God in the end. The means are carefully explained in this course. Revelation may occasionally show you the end, but to reach it the means are needed. [ACIM CE T-8.II.6:2] Forgiveness is the only gift I give, because it is the only gift I want, and everything I give I give myself. This is salvation’s simple formula. [ACIM CE W-297.1:1] Here is the answer! Would you stand outside while all of Heaven waits for you within? Forgive and be forgiven. As you give you will receive. There is no plan but this for the salvation of the Son of God. Let us today rejoice that this is so, for here we have an answer, clear and plain, beyond deceit in its simplicity. ACIM | The Last Judgment: Divine Punishment or Self-Evaluation?

In this episode of the ACIM Book Club, host Allison Anton reviews the Last Judgment from A Course in Miracles as self-evaluation versus divine punishment. According to the Course, the Last Judgment involves judging our own thoughts and deeds to retain only what is lovable and true, a process that leads to right-mindedness and ultimately, Atonement. This is a commentary on the final section of chapter two in the Complete and Annotated edition called 'The Real Meaning of The Last Judgment.' Watch and read the full transcript here: AlisonAnton.substack.com Podcast Category: Faith and Spirituality Timestamps 00:00 Introduction to the Last Section of Chapter Two 00:39 Daily Reminder and Meditation 01:34 Summary of the Last Judgment 02:09 Jesus' Perspective on the Final Judgment 04:02 Evaluating Worthiness and Right-Mindedness 07:18 The Path to Final Atonement 07:50 Reflection and Closing Thoughts ACIM Quotes & Prayers: Note: Alison Anton uses the Complete and Annotated Edition (CE) of A Course in Miracles. This edition is based on the original handwritten notes of Helen Schucman, scribe of A Course in Miracles. Publisher: Circle of Atonement. The Final Judgment is one of the greatest threat concepts in humanity’s perception. [ACIM CE T-2.XIII.2:1] The Last Judgment is generally thought of as a procedure undertaken by God. Actually, it will be undertaken solely by the Sonship with my help. It is a final healing rather than a meting out of punishment, however much you may think punishment is deserved. Punishment as a concept is in total opposition to right-mindedness. The aim of the Final Judgment is to restore right-mindedness to you. [ACIM CE T-2.XIII.4] Everyone will ultimately look upon what he has made and will to preserve only what is good, just as God Himself once looked upon what He had created and knew that it was good. [ACIM CE T-2.XIII.6:3] The mind will inevitably disown its miscreations, and having withdrawn belief from them, they will no longer exist. [ACIM CE T-2.XIII.6:5] Actually, if the Last Judgment is examined objectively, it is quite apparent that it is really the doorway to life. No one who lives in fear is really alive. [ACIM CE T-2.XIII.7:3-4] Your own final judgment cannot be directed toward yourself, because you are not your own creation. You can apply it meaningfully and at any time, however, to everything you have ever made, and retain in your real memory only what is good. [ACIM CE T-2.XIII.8:1-2] The purpose of time is solely to “give you time” to achieve this judgment. [ACIM CE T-2.XIII.8:4] When everything that you retain is lovable, there is no reason for any fear to remain in you. This is your part in the Atonement. ACIM Book Club | Reinterpreting the Fall

In this episode of the ACIM Book Club, host Alison Anton focuses on the Course's interpretation of the separation, contrasting it with the traditional biblical story of the fall. The separation is framed as a mental state, emphasizing that the separation and the fears associated with it are ultimately occurring within a dream. The episode also covers the Course's perspective on projection and miscreation, and the role of the Atonement in realizing that these errors never really occurred. Viewers are encouraged to reflect on their own perceptions of the fall and how A Course in Miracles’ teachings can aid in healing the false belief that they are “fallen”. Until the Atonement is finished, its various phases will proceed in time, but the whole Atonement stands at its end. [ACIM CE T-2.V.7:4] It was only after the separation that the defense of Atonement and the necessary conditions for its fulfillment were planned. It became increasingly apparent that all of the defenses which humanity can choose to use constructively or destructively were not enough to save it. It was therefore decided that you needed a defense which was so splendid that you could not misuse it, although you could refuse it. Your will could not turn it into a weapon of attack, which is the inherent characteristic of all other defenses. The Atonement thus became the only defense which was not a two-edged sword. [ACIM CE T-2.V.2] …the action aspect of the miracle should be Christ-controlled, because of His complete awareness of the whole plan. [ACIM CE T-1.45.3:3] This course is a mind-training course. [ACIM CE T-3.I.1:2] The Holy Spirit, like the ego, is a decision. [ACIM CE T-5.VI.11:2] The Atonement is the device by which you can free yourself from the past as you go ahead. It undoes your past errors, thus making it unnecessary for you to keep retracing your steps without advancing. [ACIM CE T-2.V.6:4-5] Let me remember that my goal is God. [ACIM CE W-258:1] My lesson was like yours, and because I learned it I can teach it. [ACIM CE T-4.II.7:4-5] The sole responsibility of the miracle worker is to accept Atonement himself. [ACIM CE T-2.VIII.5:1] Those released by Christ must join Him in releasing their brothers, for this is the plan of Atonement. [ACIM CE T-1.34.2:4] The Atonement was an act based on true perception. I cannot choose for you, but I can help you make your own right choice. “Many are called but few are chosen” should read, “All are called, but few choose to listen.” Therefore, they do not choose right. The “chosen ones” are merely those who choose right sooner. [ACIM CE T-3.VI.18:4-11] This is a public episode. This edition is based on the original handwritten notes of Helen Schucman, scribe of A Course in Miracles. Publisher: Circle of Atonement. The truth is still that the attraction of God is irresistible at all levels, and the acceptance of this totally unavoidable truth is only a matter of time. But you should consider whether you want to wait, because you can return now, if you choose. [ACIM CE T-2.I.1] You have been assured that the Kingdom of God is within you, and can never be lost. [ACIM CE W-77.3:4] The concept is really one of space-time belief. The physical world exists only because you can use it to correct your unbelief, which placed you in it originally. [ACIM CE T-1.48.24:2-4] …you have placed yourself in a position where you need Atonement because you have done something loveless, having willed without love. This is precisely the situation for which the Atonement was offered. The need for the remedy inspired its establishment. [ACIM CE T-2.IX.13:1-3] The Holy Spirit is my only Guide. He walks with me in love. And I give thanks to Him for showing me the way to go. [ACIM CE W-215.1:2-4] Give him his place in the Kingdom, and you will have yours. The Kingdom cannot be found alone, and you who are the Kingdom cannot find yourself alone. [ACIM CE T-8.II.8:4-6] When you have seen this world, as you will surely do, you will remember Us. [ACIM CE T-12.IX.5:7] The Call to return is stronger than the call to depart, [ACIM CE T-5.III.4:1] As I am healed I am not healed alone. [ACIM CE W-137:1] Ours is simply the journey back to God Who is our home. Whenever fear intrudes anywhere along the road to peace, it is always because the ego has attempted to join the journey with us and cannot do so… On this journey, you have chosen me as your companion instead of your ego. Do not try to hold on to both, or you will try to go in different directions and will lose the way. The ego’s way is not mine, but it is also not yours. The Holy Spirit has one direction for all minds, and the one He taught me is yours. Let us not lose sight of His direction through illusions, for only illusions of another direction can obscure the one for which God’s Voice speaks in all of us. ACIM | Why the Ego Has to Snuff You Out

In this episode of the ForgiveNest Podcast, Alison Anton delves into the challenging concept of the ego from A Course in Miracles (ACIM). She explains why the ego tries to keep us unaware that we are the creators of our dream, projecting guilt and fear onto external circumstances. The podcast outlines the process of misidentifying with the ego, the role of the 'dreaming self,' and the importance of recognizing our own involvement in this dream. It highlights the steps necessary to reclaim our power, face our mistaken identity, and awaken to our true selves. The episode concludes with a powerful passage from ACIM that encourages forgiveness and a return to our true identity in God. This edition is based on the original handwritten notes of Helen Schucman, scribe of A Course in Miracles. Publisher: Circle of Atonement. [Miracles] are the dream’s alternative, the choice to be the dreamer, rather than deny the active role in making up the dream. …the mind acknowledges, “This is not done to me, but I am doing this.” ⁶And thus the mind is free to make another choice instead. [ACIM CE T-28.II.12:1-6] A dream is like a memory, in that it pictures what you wanted shown to you. [ACIM CE T-28.II.4:5] The separation started with the dream the Father was deprived of His effects, (God’s effects are us, as His creation) and powerless to keep them since He was no longer their Creator. [ACIM CE T-28.II.8:4-5] In the dream, the dreamer made himself, but what he made had turned against him, taking on the role of its creator as the dreamer had. [ACIM CE T-28.II.8:5] And as he hated his Creator, so the figures in the dream have hated him. ⁷His body is their slave, which they abuse because the motives he has given it have they adopted as their own, and hate it for the vengeance it would offer them. [ACIM CE T-28.II.8:6-7] This is how all illusions come about. ⁵The one who makes them does not see himself as making them, and their reality does not depend on him. ⁶Whatever cause they have is something quite apart from him, and what he sees is separate from his mind. ⁷He cannot doubt his dreams’ reality because he does not see the part he plays in making them, and making them seem real. [ACIM CE T-27.IX.1:4-7] It is their vengeance on the body which appears to prove the dreamer could not be the maker of the dream. [ACIM CE T-28.II.9:1] It is not difficult to shift a dream when once the dreamer has been recognized. [ACIM CE T-27.IX.7:2] There is no road that leads away from God. ²A journey from yourself does not exist. ³How foolish and insane it is to think that there could be a road with such an aim. ⁴Where could it go? ⁵And how could you be made to travel on it, walking there without your own reality at one with you? ⁶Forgive yourself your madness, and forget all senseless journeys and all goalless aims. ⁷They have no meaning. ⁸You cannot escape from what you are, for God is merciful, and did not let His Son abandon Him. ⁹For what He is be thankful, for in that is your escape from madness and from death. ¹⁰Nowhere but where He is can you be found. ¹¹There is no path that does not lead to Him.
