Zelensky Is Winning Over MAGA—Trump Is Still Waffling

Something consequential is happening inside the MAGA movement: Ukraine’s message is beginning to break through.

President Zelensky is connecting Russia’s war against Ukraine to threats that directly affect Americans. Ukrainian intelligence says Russia is helping Iran with satellite surveillance of U.S. military facilities, strengthening North Korea’s military capabilities, and building a broader anti-American alliance.

That argument is being amplified by unlikely voices. Laura Loomer has openly reversed her position on Ukraine, called Russia an enemy of the United States, and urged Republicans to support stronger Russia-Iran sanctions. Even Trump acknowledged that reporters are seeing a pro-Ukraine shift within MAGA—although he insisted that his supporters ultimately follow him.

But Trump remains inconsistent. He speaks positively about Zelensky, says he wants the war ended, and supports sanctions rhetoric—but he continues to hesitate when Ukraine asks for the weapons, permissions, and sustained pressure necessary to force Putin to change course.

MAGA may be listening. Trump is still waffling.
