Episode 137 - Police K9 Legend Dave Reaver Adlerhorst Police K9

Dave Reaver is a legend in the world of police and military K9s. He's the godfather of police K9 and shaping bot the dogs that work as police dogs as well as the handlers that deploy them. For over 50 years Adlerhorst has been a name that means police dogs. I finally sat down with Dave for an amazing chat. No idea what we would talk about, it ended up as one of my longest podcasts.... and it could have went on much longer. We discussed how it all began, the true genesis of the police dogs we now see. The training, the selection, the handling and more. Some awesome stories covering the real history of military and police dogs, something you won't find elsewhere. Dave Reaver is the man who is responsible for what police dogs look like in the USA today. He has sold and trained police dogs to hundreds of police and military agencies throughout the US and beyond. This chat will cement a piece in history for these amazing dogs and this amazing man. I'm hoping me and Dave can sit down and do this again real soon! Episode 136 - Shade Whitesel - Sport Dog Training - Less Pressure, More Clarity

This is a great chat for anyone interested in Sport Protection Training. Shade Whitesel has competed in Schutzhund / IGP for close to 30 years. She is a crossover trainer who has found an approach that promotes a more rewarding / positive experience for the dogs she trains. **I'm seeing this as a common thread in many highly talented trainers. In this podcast we discuss what made her change training theories and the successes she's seen throughout this journey. ***** The Training Event Discussed in this Podcast: THE USCA Southwest Region - Regional Training Event December 19 & 20, 2026 register by clicking here: https://forms.gle/w5BK2vfiBTVe6tJv9 This is not a "purely positive" podcast, it is instead an open look at what we can do to provide the best training for our dogs. There is no agenda of who is a better trainer or what training ideology is best - it's an honest conversation between two dog trainers who openly and honestly discuss training combining close to 50 years of experience. Any trainer or dog lover can take some valuable points away from this conversation and we hope you do! Enjoy! Episode 134 - The Future of Healing Dogs - Dr. Jaime Pickett

Dog training, veterinary medicine, and holistic healing collide in this powerful conversation. My dog's health is so important to me... I consider so many things including diet, exercise, activities and so much more in an effort to give my dog not only a long life, but a better quality of life as well. Because of that I will try to focus more on things we can do to improve our dogs' lives when it comes to health and wellness. I've recently begun using the EQUUSIR bio mat EMF pad. I have seen my dogs relaxing more and enjoying the rejuvenation on it. I wasn't sure what exactly all of the features and benefits of it were so I invited Dr. Jaime Picket DVM to discuss it. Dr Jaime is a veterinary doctor and also the veterinary representative for EQUUSIR. We discussed the medical benefits on this podcast and I w as surprised to learn even more about EMF Therapy and how it can help our dogs. When I find products that I love and use regularly I like to partner with these select companies in order to bring more awareness to their brands and also to help my viewers learn more. So I'm happy to be an ambassador to EQUUSIR. You can use my code to purchase the blanket below. Use my code CABRAL10 and save 10% off of your purchase. https://equusir.com/discount/CABRAL10?redirect=%2Fproducts%2Fbios-hundedecke ***This link will apply the 10% discount, otherwise you can use the code CABRAL10 on the site to save. Episode 132 - Malinois Gone Wrong

This was never planned to be a podcast, but I was so s tricked by the questions Fabian asked me, I felt compelled to share it with everyone. Fabian Alvidrez reached out to me to ask me some questions about a journalism project he is doing for TCU, Texas Christian University. His questions were really deep and important for others to hear, so I'm glad he agreed to let me use this Q&A as a podcast. A little about Fabian: Fabian is a senior Journalism major and Kinesiology minor from Texas Christian University. A lifelong outdoorsman who practices fly fishing, traditional fishing, hunting and rock climbing. Before University he worked as a ranch hand for his father who is a horse trainer and raised his brothers and him around live stock. He also served a little over four years as a U.S Marine with two deployments. This is where he was first introduced to Belgian Malinois I hope you'll enjoy this chat and it will provoke more conversation on helping people better understand the Belgian Malinois.

Episode 130 - Jason Purgason IACP President - Dog Trainers Unite

If you love dogs and are working in any capacity with dogs such as a dog trainer, boarding, grooming, a dog walker or most anything else, listen to the message in this podcast. The IACP is an organization that helps all dog professionals... yes, all of them no matter their ideals or methodologies. It's an organization that cares about dogs and the future of caring for them, not any political agenda. I've been a member for many years and support IACP. Jason is the president of the IACP and we delve into the future of dog training and dog trainers with the current attacks on certain dog trainers that don't follow the very politically charged agenda. We talk about the benefits of coming together for the dogs and how we could all lose if the radical ideology wins. It's always great to have Avi over and just talk. We never know where the conversation is gonna go and those are my favorite chats. I don't like scripted questions, I believe they make for phony interviews. Now-a-days everyone has a podcast, so I decided to back off on mine. My goal is to only share interesting conversations with people, the kind of conversations I'd like to listen to.. not just a talk to talk. We talked about his dog ORKAN, training, competing and his new endeavor in dog training equipment including the AC STICK. Episode 121 - Protecting the German Shepherd From Association with the Nazi Past

The German Shepherd is a noble, intelligent and intelligent dog. Sadly they have been maligned on different occasions, namely during thee Second World War when Nazi forces used them to commit harmful and sometimes deadly acts on Jews in Concentration Camps. How does this apply to this video? READ ON! The SV (Verein für Deutsche Schäferhunde) is an organization that is designed to advocate for and protect the breed. The SV is a fantastic organization that has done so much for the breed. However, recently they have invited a politician who is at the center of some controversy to be a guest at their big show, the Bundessiegerzuchtschau. Hubert Aiwanger is currently the Deputy Minister President of Bavaria and the Bavarian Minister of Economic affairs, Regional Development and Energy. He is both the faction leader of the Federal Association of Free Voters as well as the Bavarian State Association of Free and Independent Voters. In the last few weeks some controversy surfaced linking him to antisemitic materials that he possessed as a young man. Since this show is purely about the benefit of the dog, I will explain in the podcast that any association that the German Shepherd has to someone possibly linked to extremism can cause a backlash onto the dog. For that reason I ask you to respectfully contact the SV at the email below and ask them to kindly remove Hubert Aiwanger from their event this weekend September 7-10th. I ask you to do this kindly, respectfully, but with intent. This is important for anyone who loves the German Shepherd! link to the SV: https://www.schaeferhunde.de/en/ email the SV: info@schaeferhunde.de Watch this 3 minute video to learn more about the current controversy: https://x.com/dw_politics/status/1697305771195715742?s=48&t=67j2Cm2FE5PYvcJ4PusJQQ Thank you to everyone who cares enough to take the time to take action and speak on behalf of the dogs! Our dogs should never be associated to something that they had no control over and would slight them. They should be loved and protected! #germanshepherd #israel #gsd #germany

Episode 120 - Who is Robert Cabral? With Kyle Schwab

Kyle called me one day and said, "How come you never have anyone interview you?" And then immediately said, "I want to interview you on YOUR show!" Now, there aren't many people that I would just say yes to, but I've known Kyle for a long time and respect his passion for dogs - so what could go wrong? LOL. I agreed and we set a time to meet at the park where I do a lot of my training. This chat was very deep and the questions were well thought out and insightful. So, if you want to learn a little more about me - take a listen to this podcast! Kyle has a great demeanor for interviewing because he's really interested, and that is something I pride myself on also. This wasn't just a "ask 10 questions and move on. Kyle's questions were very thought out. and he really wanted to probe these topics. He didn't prepare me, so this is just off the cuff, which I like best! I hate prepared interviews. If you haven't seen the podcast I did with Kyle earlier this year, here's a link: https://youtu.be/JA4lX97Zwcw?si=p7qKqWqzrFvzdovU *** IT IS THE MOST POPULAR PODCAST I HAVE DONE TO DATE! That is a testament to our mutual. respect and passion for the dogs we work with and the methods we use. I want to thank Kyle for taking the time to do this, it really was a selfless act.. like he said, "I think people want to know the real Robert Cabral!" well, to all of you who want to know more about the real me, here you go. Enjoy! Let me know in the comments what you think! #doglover #dogs #dogtrainer

Episode 119 - Cabral & Krohn Uncensored - with Larry Krohn

This podcast will probably blow up the internet and ruffle many feathers. I had no idea where this conversation would go, in fact I wasn't even sure if we were gonna do a podcast. Larry was in town getting ready for a seminar, so I took him to a favorite beach spot to have a beer and some fish tacos. Then we thought, what the heck, let's talk! Our conversations are always like minded, entertaining and meaningful. I'm blessed to count this guy as a very close friend, comrade, fellow dog trainer and more! We often laugh at the same stuff, get frustrated at the same issues and always value each other. I can honestly say I feel like I've known him for so long, even though it's only bee a few years. We connected through a mutual respect in dog training and then found out we grew up a few miles from one another in New Jersey. We both moved to the south at one point and we both have the same humor. We also share a true respect and passion for dogs. This chat delves into so many topics, O'd be remiss to try and list them all here, but some are: ecollar bans, purely positive training, rescue dogs, dog trainer certification, ethics in training, haters and SOOOO much more. NO matter what you're looking for, you will either LOVE or HATE this podcast, I hope you'll make it all the way through, because it takes a sudden turn right around the 1 HOUR mark! Episode 118 - PitBulls as Military k9 in the US Special Forces

PItbulls are one of the most controversial breed of dog. They polarize people: some LOVE them - some HATE them! I thought it would be a great idea to talk to someone who would seem somewhat neutral and get some more info on the breed. Kenny Licklider has trained so many dogs to the highest level including those for the US Military. So, the question is: "Can pitbulls be used for military k9 work?" The surprising answer is in this video. Pitbulls can be really amazing dogs and when you hear the stories from Ken, you will agree. It takes a special person to own them, train them and live with them, but when you find that match, you will be astounded!
