    The Challenge of Change

Is it just me, or is the world changing faster than ever? Yes, change is accelerating and it's dis-regulating our nervous systems and increasing stress. Why? We are hard wired to fear change. Our brain sees all change as a possible threat to our survival and so it kicks into high gear to protect us. Some changes we look forward to such as a promotion, a new love relationship, or retirement. But we often over estimate how happy we will be when the change occurrs. Why? Change comes with challenges. In this episode, we'll explore how to pause, pivot, and shift to enjoy the journey as we go through change. Hope you enjoy the episode. If you do, please share it with a friend.

    Signs Are All Around Us

I asked Google for a definition of the word "sign". This is what it said: A sign is a gesture, action, mark, or object that conveys meaning, represents an idea, or indicates the presence of something else. I found the last six words intriguing "indicates the presence of something else." I see signs everywhere I go. Not 3 dimensional signs, but sign from God, the Universe, and dearly departed friends and family. I am always surprised when people think this is unusual. We all have intuitive gifts whether we acknowledge them or not. They are part of our reptilian brain, and are designed to keep us alive. Your intuition is like a muscle, it strengthens with use. Where are signs showing up in your life that you're either acknowledging or ignoring?

    Things Are Just Things

What things matter to you? Your jewelry, your clothes, your photographs? A wildfire last week near where I live had my property and those close by under pre-evacuation orders. Making decisions about what would stay and what should go was surprisingly easy. - because we are not our things. We give them meaning and value. I hope I never have to evacuate my house, but if I do, I know what goes, what stays, and that my memories can never be lost.

To See a Rainbow You Have to Look Through the Rain

The power and truth of this statement shook me this morning. It was the mantra that got my father through the hardest years of his life. In this episode, I'll share the story of the rainbow and why it meant so much to my Dad and now means so much to me.

I hope this podcast inspired you to grow and believe that you can have more of life than others will tell you is possible. I'm living proof that it is.

Shedding a Skin and Being Vulnerable

There are millions of things I like to do in life. Being vulnerable is not one of them. I remember when the leader of a discussion group I was in told me I was most approachable when I was being vulnerable. What he didn't realize was when I feel vulnerable my mind tells me I'm unsafe and unable to defend myself. That isn't true, but it's how I feel. And learning to lasso my brain that is already running wild with worst case scenarios is seemingly impossible in the moment. But it's not. Listen and learn what works for me when my tender underbelly is exposed.

    Couldn't, Shouldn't, Wouldn't

Who is living inside your head? What voices are telling you that you shouldn't, you couldn't, or that they wouldn't do what you're thinking about doing? The overarching theme of the "Are You Relentlessly Resilient?" podcast is this - change may be hard, but staying the same is harder. Too many times those the "love us" tell us we want too much, that what we are doing is dangerous, and that we'll be disappointed. B.S. That is their fear speaking and yet you may believe what they are saying is true. Is 2026 going to be another year of SSDD (same sh*&, different day)? Three of my friends have recently either gotten divorced or are in the process of it. And we're talking after decades of marriage. I am not advocating for divorce, but I am advocating giving yourself permission to be loved, to grow, and to fulfill your potential. The hardest experience in a marriage or in any relationship is growing when your partner is not. But are you willing to get to the end of your life and regret not being all you could be? Something to think about as we continue to move into 2026.

    Why is Change So Hard?

We often want the results of change, but don't want to do the work required. Why, when we know that the change we want to make will improve our life, do we refuse to change or sabotage our efforts? We are biologically hardwired to resist change. Change is a potential threat, and until we know the consequences of that change, we are unwilling to proceed. For example, many people are overweight. They know how to lose weight, but they don't. Why? If they lose weight, they may experience attention that makes them feel uncomfortable. They may discover that being overweight was a justification they used for everything that didn't work in their life. They many tell themselves "I didn't get the promotion because I'm overweight." The truth may be that they're not qualified. I'm unhappy in this relationship. I stay because having a crappy relationship is better than the pain I will feel if I'm not in a relationship. You know the version of this that you're telling yourself. And if changing is too scary at this time, give yourself grace. But realize there is a path forward to making change. It starts with believing you can.

Sometimes It Is What It Is...

I recorded this podcast earlier this week and went to upload it on Wednesday. Mother Nature had other plans. High winds knocked out power where I live and I've been without power (except for a short window) since. Today the winds are even more fierce with 100 mph gusts on the mountain top where I live. I decided to come "down mountain" and get this uploaded. Sometimes life is what it is. Enjoy.

    I Believe in Miracles!

Today is a very different episode of Are You Relentlessly Resilient? I've uploaded a video recorded today after a parole hearing for the driver of the getaway vehicle during a robbery in which my husband, Chris, was killed. The 5th anniversary of this event is tomorrow, December 4th. Chris' death, and my interactions with the first responder community after he was killed, was the inspiration for my nonprofit, Restoration Ranch Colorado, and for this podcast. Miracles are all around us, we only need to stop long enough to acknowledge their presence in our lives. Thank you for listening and thank you for caring. Kathryn

    In All Things, Give Thanks

Tomorrow in America we celebrate Thanksgiving. It's my very favorite holiday and one that often gets trampled on the way To Christmas. Gratitude helps things grow - people, opportunities, blessings. Taking time to give thanks for our blessings reminds of the how lucky we are and how many things we take for granted. Take a moment to thank your heart for beating, your eyes for seeing, your ears for hearing, for without them, you could read this message or listen to this podcast. I want you to know how grateful I am for letting me share these messages each week and thank you for sharing five precious minutes of your life with me.

Don't Just Go Through It, GROW Through It!

Fall is one of my favorite seasons. Everything is bright and beautiful, a swan song before the onset of winter's barrenness. With new moon tomorrow, this episode examines setting intentions that will manifest weeks, even months from now. I'm back in touch with my intuitive, natural, sensual self and ready to fully embrace and embody the gifts and talents I have been blessed with. Each of us have gifts we have given. Letting go and loss are calls to honor our feelings and to learn the lessons God is calling you to lear. Don't just go through it, GROW through it.

    It's All In Your Head!

Want to know your future? Look at your thoughts. If you're thinking about lack, expect it to show up. If you're catastrophizing a situation, expect it to turn out terribly. So get out of your head and get into your heart and start believing in what you want. And then, let enough time pass for those thoughts and beliefs to take root. You can change your life.

    Blissfully Uncomfortable

An oxymoron? No. It's what's required to prepare for the next level. We have to lean into the discomfort and build our resilience muscles to move forward and succeed. Are there days I want to give up? Yes. I'm human. But being relentlessly resilient means getting up one more time than you're knocked down. Be blissfully uncomfortable and move forward. You are closer to your dream/goal than you think.

Celebrate Before You Raise the Bar

You work like crazy to accomplish a goal, complete it, and it isn't as fulfilling as you thought. You berate yourself because it's not enough and then set the bar higher. Sound familiar? Welcome to the formula for burnout, depression, and dissatisfaction. If we forget to celebrate, we don't get the dopamine hit that completes the cycle of accomplish. So we push harder thinking the next thing will make us feel better only to discover it doesn't. Celebrating is important. It's not about boastfulness, or pride or conceit. It's taking time to acknowledge how far we've come, no matter how far we have to go.

    Go Ahead, Give Up

It's human nature when faced with insurmountable obstacles to want to give up. We believe we are incapable of the task or of solving the problem we face. That's B.S. - your belief system. In this episode, I encourage you to give up - but not in the way you may think. Enjoy.

    The Company You Keep

Who do you spend the most time with? And are they a positive or negative influence on you and your life? We often go along with the crowd, preferring to fit in rather than stay true to ourselves and our goals. Let's talk about the company you keep and whether they support your goals and dreams or keep you right where are you are.

    Which Came First?!?!?

You're probably thinking "The chicken or the egg." Nope! Which came first - the thought or the emotion. The two are inexorably linked. Thoughts lead to emotions. And emotions lead to thoughts. What is exciting is you have control over both once you understand the link between them.
