    19. Unsolved: 1981 Woman

In August 1981, North Yorkshire Police received a chilling anonymous phone call directing them to a decomposed body hidden among dense nettles near Scawton Moor House. Officers found the skeletal remains of an unidentified woman who had likely been dead for around two years. With no clothing, jewellery, or identification to reveal who she was, detectives believed her death was suspicious. More than four decades later, despite advances in DNA technology, neither the woman nor the mysterious caller has ever been identified, making Nude in the Nettles one of Britain’s most enduring unsolved mysteries. 18. Serial Killer: Robert Maudsley

If you’ve ever heard of Robert Maudsley, you will probably know that he holds a world record for being the prisoner who has spent the longest time ever in solitary confinement. You will likely know that this was within a glass box inside HMP Wakefield Prison, and you will have probably heard him referred to as ‘Britain’s Hannibal Lecter’. But, is this media depiction of a crazed cannibal actually correct? Of course not. But does he deserve the whole life order that was imposed on him? Have a listen and decide for yourselves. Note: nearly every source spells Robert’s name as Maudsley, but according to his nephew, Gavin, the correct spelling is Mawdsley. July Extra: Breaking the Enigma Code

During WWII the German military used an enigma machine to communicate through code, which they thought was unbreakable - to put it simply. However, early breakthroughs were made by Polish mathematicians, and later British intelligence and specifically Alan Turing. He developed a machine called Bombes which could decrypt messages at speed. This intelligence gave the allies crucial information about German plans and movements, helping them win key battles and contributed to shortening the war by years. Alan Turing, was a remarkable man, which I delve into further within the episode. For our sources, please visit our website - https://anotherdayanotherevil.wordpress.com/july-extra
