התוכן ידוע מה שאמרז"ל שמצוות לקיחת הד' מינים מורה על האחדות בין הד' סוגים בבני-ישראל – את הסוג שיש בהם תורה ("טעם") ומצוות ("ריח") ואת השאר הסוגים וכו'. ולכאו', מהו הצורך בלקיחת הד' מינים הגשמיים, הרי יכלו לפעול את האחדות ע"י העיקר – שיקחו א' מכל הד' סוגים דבנ"י ו"לנענעם" ביחד?! והביאור: הכוונה היא אכן לאחד את בנ"י – אבל זה צריך לבוא עד לעוה"ז הגשמי, נשמות בגופים. ועד"ז לא מספיק להסתגר בביהכנ"ס ובית המדרש, מקום שאין שם ענין מלבד יהדות, אלא מוטלת על כל א' השליחות "לעשות לו ית' דירה בתחתונים". ועד"ז בנוגע לענין ה"מבצעים" המדובר לאחרונה – שענינם פעולות בגשמיות העולם: מבצע צדקה (שכוללת כל המצוות) – נתינה להעני ממון גשמי (שהרויח בעסקו בעניני רשות); מבצע נש"ק – הדלקת נר גשמי שמאיר את הבית בגשמיות וכו'. משיחת י"ג תשרי ה'תשל"ה ל"הנחה פרטית" או התרגום ללה"ק של השיחה: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=25-09-2026 Synopsis Our Sages taught that the mitzvah of taking the Four Species represents unity among the four types of Jews (with Torah representing “taste” and mitzvos representing “fragrance” etc.). Seemingly, why is it necessary to take the physical Four Species, instead of exhibiting actual unity between the four types of Jews themselves? The answer is that while the purpose of the mitzvah is to unite Jews, it must be expressed physically, within the world, by souls in bodies. Similarly, it is not enough to seclude oneself in a shul or beis midrash where there is nothing but Yiddishkeit; rather, every Jew is charged with the mission of making a dwelling place for Hashem in the lower realms. The same applies to the Mivtzoim we have been discussing recently: the purpose is to inspire physical action within this world, such as Mivtza Tzedakah (taking physical money earned by involvement in permissible mundane affairs and giving it to the poor) and lighting Shabbos candles (lighting a candle that physically illuminates the home etc).
