Ep. 93: Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937) or ‘Roy Disney and the Seven Panic Attacks’
Zach welcomes back the mighty Matt Merback (Actor, Disney Correspondent) for another trek through the wonderful world of Walt Disney with a deep dive into his pioneering 1937 effort, SNOW WHITE AND THE SEVEN DWARFS. Heigh Ho, it's off to talk we go as the boys catch up with the state of Disney at the moment of divine inspiration, marvel at the audacity of Walt's big gamble, dig deeper into the methods both artistic and financial that fully cobbled the film together, think way to hard at times about a simple fairy tale, and finally wrestle with the many ways the film has influenced not just the world of film at large but the Disney company itself to this day. Plus: Walt need's more money... like so many times in the show. (Note from the host: Oversight on my end has the year 1938 mentioned as the year of the film's release. While it is true that the wide general release was in 1938, the original premiere was at the Carthay Circle Theater on December 27th, 1937 before roll out to Radio City Music Hall and other three weeks later. The full wide general release would come on February 4th, 1938. Apologies on behalf of myself and my guest for any errors regarding the release timeline. We hope you enjoy the show)

After the barrage of butterflies and haul of hairdryers has settled, join Zach and Rashmi as they unpack the origins behind the very blunt and forward Suzuki, sift through the pop art and boundary pushing violence in both films, revel in the directors disdain for authority, reckon with the outdated elements of Suzuki's eye, and then wrangle together their thoughts on how the films have influenced the works we see today.
