WYST: Utopia (UK 2013) [Pilot episode recap]
Utopia! The UK version! This show had somewhat of a resurgence during the pandemic, and Ricardo's been an advocate for it for a long time. What does Dan and Marvin think about it, though?! WYST: The Penguin [Full miniseries recap]
The Penguin! We couldn't stop watching and ended up watching the whole series. Wow. Who would've thought "The Penguin" could be one of the best shows of the last several years? WYST: The Penguin [Pilot episode recap]
The Penguin! Honestly, it seems a lot like Matt Reeves' take on The Sopranos, but in the "The Batman"-verse. But how good is it, really? Marvin, Dan, and Ricardo tune in to find out! WYST: Interview with the Vampire [Pilot episode recap]
Interview with the Vampire! The 2022 take on this Anne Rice classic is quite a departure, so much so that the Rice estate even parted ways with AMC and the production of this show. It does take quite a few new liberties... Louis is black now? He owns brothels now? The story starts off with his brother still alive? Explicit gay scenes? A modern-day framing device with an extra-prickly and older interviewer? Were all the changes worth it? Did we stay tuned?! WYST: Pluto [Full miniseries recap]
Pluto! Last time, we just watched the first episode, but now Dan and Marvin have watched the whole series. What do they think? Well, get ready for almost two hours of Marvin venting about anime! What does that mean for Pluto as a show? Tune in to find out! We watch pilots of TV shows, old and new, and then ask, "Would You Stay Tuned?" New episodes... whenever! WYST: Pluto [Pilot episode recap]
Pluto! A slavish adaptation of the reimagining of Atom (known as "Astro Boy" in the West) by Naoki Urasawa, Pluto has been called by many as the best anime on Netflix right now. Is that true? What do we think? Dan hosts this episode and guides Sara and Marvin into the world of Pluto, a grittier, more realistic take on the anime that was originally a Disney-like allegory for Pinnochio. WYST: The Sopranos [Pilot episode recap]
The Sopranos! Arguably the show that started the entire "prestige era" of television. Does this pastiche of psychotherapy, Italian stereotypes, casual violence, and meta Hollywood commentary hold up 25 years later? WYST: Deadwood [Pilot episode recap]
Deadwood! We all love Westerns, and Ricardo's been trying to get us to watch Deadwood for quite a while! WYST: Scott Pilgrim Takes Off [Episodes 1-2 recap]
Scott Pilgrim Takes Off! Dan and Marvin are, essentially, lapsed Scott Pilgrim fans, feeling burned by the Edgar Wright movie ("Scott Pilgrim vs. The World") and the way the original graphic novels ended. But Scott Pilgrim Takes Off appears to be different... REALLY different! How do they feel about it now?! Would they stay tuned?! We watch pilots of TV shows, old and new, and then ask, "Would You Stay Tuned?" New episodes... whenever! Find more stuff we do at https://www.FugitiveFrames.com
