    WP in 30 - Rest in Power Donna Jean Godchaux-MacKay, 1947 - 2025

On November 2, 2025, Donna Jean Godchaux-MacKay passed away at the age of 78. The Queen of the Grateful Dead was a backing vocalist for the band from 1972 to 1979 She was the only female member of the Grateful Dead and was a part of the band's most iconic decade, the 1970s, featured on what many consider to be some of the band's best moments, including: Europe '72 tour, the Sunshine Daydream show at Veneta, Oregon in 1972, the Wall of Sound Summer '74 tour, Spring '77 tour, and the 1978 show at Red Rocks amphitheater. Rest in Power to the Queen of the Grateful Dead 🧡
