However, particularly if you're new to photography, or an aspect of photography, you might not understand what they mean. In this podcast, I look at 12 questions that cover some of these aspects. They are: What is the difference between optical and digital zoom? What is depth of field and how is it controlled? What is the difference between a large and a small aperture? How can I get a blurry background? What is the difference between single and continuous auto-focus? Why doesn't my sunset look colourful? How can I avoid red-eye in photos? What is the histogram (on the camera rear display) used for? Why is my subject a little out of focus? How can I get a sharp background? Why are some of my pictures grainy? What is a lens hood for?
