Plus our full Shanghai Masters 2026 preview. 🔥🎾 SUBSCRIBE to TSH Tennis for ATP tennis recaps, match analysis, predictions, debates and weekly tennis coverage: https://www.youtube.com/@tshtennis?sub_confirmation=1 Welcome to We’re Going Five Podcast Season 3 Episode 38, our full Beijing & Tokyo 2026 Recap. Djokovic adds another historic title to his career. Alcaraz remains perfect in Tokyo. Sinner receives a major injury update. Zverev reaches World No. 1. And before we leave the Asian swing, we preview the Shanghai Masters and make our champion picks. ⏱️ TIMESTAMPS 0:00:00 Intro 00:00:59 Novak Djokovic Rewrites History in Beijing 00:15:00 Carlos Alcaraz Dominates in Tokyo 00:23:48 Thoughts on Sinner’s Season Ending Injury? 00:33:42 Zverev To Become The New World No.1! 00:41:42 Biggest Winners of the week! 00:45:19 Spicy No Spicy? 00:50:46 Overreaction or Not? 00:58:59 Shanghai Masters Preview 01:03:20 Who Ya Got in Shanghai? 🐐 NOVAK DJOKOVIC REWRITES HISTORY IN BEIJING Novak Djokovic does it again. 34-0 in Beijing. The best record he has produced at any tournament. The oldest ATP 500 champion in history. And career title No. 102. Djokovic had to go through three completely different challenges on his way to the title: Alexander Zverev from a set down. Daniil Medvedev in straight sets. Alex de Minaur in a tiebreak battle. At this stage of his career, how is Novak STILL doing this? And after everything we have seen in 2026, could another huge title still be coming before the season ends? 👑 CARLOS ALCARAZ DOMINATES TOKYO Carlos Alcaraz continues his ridiculous run. 10-0 in Tokyo. Back-to-back Tokyo titles. Four consecutive ATP 500 tournaments won. And career title No. 27. Alcaraz is now third among Spanish men for career titles, behind only the legends ahead of him. After the injury problems that interrupted his season, Carlos has come back firing. So how high is his level right now? And could Alcaraz actually finish 2026 without losing another match? 🚨 JANNIK SINNER’S SEASON IS OVER Jannik Sinner’s injury problems continue. Sinner has been advised to rest and continue therapy for his tendon issues rather than undergo surgery, bringing his 2026 season to an early end. What does this mean long term? Is avoiding surgery the right decision? And after such a complicated year physically, what version of Sinner should we expect when he returns? 🥇 ZVEREV BECOMES WORLD NO. 1 Alexander Zverev reaches World No. 1 and becomes the 30th man in ATP history to hold the top ranking. It is another enormous milestone in what has already been a career-changing season. But there is an interesting wrinkle: Zverev has only two Top 10 wins all year. Does that matter? Or does becoming World No. 1 simply prove that consistency across an entire season matters more than individual marquee wins? 📈 BIGGEST WINNERS OF THE WEEK Outside the champions, who improved their stock the most? Alex de Minaur? Jiri Lehecka? Valentin Vacherot? We pick the players leaving the week with the biggest momentum boost. 🌶️ SPICY NO SPICY Daniil Medvedev finds himself at the center of controversy again after his Djokovic match and a default following an incident involving a fan. Then there is Terence Atmane, who retired from two tournaments in consecutive weeks deep in deciding sets and also threw his racket into the stands. Spicy? No spicy? Or completely unacceptable? 🧨 OVERREACTION OR NOT? Novak Djokovic will win another big title before the end of 2026. Carlos Alcaraz will not lose another match this year. Djokovic should never play Beijing again and protect the perfect record. Rafael Jodar will not regain his form until 2027. Four takes. Four verdicts. 🇨🇳 SHANGHAI MASTERS PREVIEW The Asian swing continues with the Shanghai Masters 2026. We break down the draw, the biggest contenders, dangerous matchups, upset possibilities and the players carrying momentum into another Masters 1000 event. 🏆 WHO YA GOT IN SHANGHAI? Ismaeel. Haroon. Yousef. Three champion picks. Who leaves Shanghai with the trophy? 👇 DROP YOUR TAKE Can Djokovic win another major title this season? Will Alcaraz lose again in 2026? What does Sinner’s injury mean for next year? And who are YOU taking to win Shanghai? Timestamps: 00:00:00 Intro 00:00:53 King Carlitos is Back Baby! 00:06:35 Thoughts on Sinner missing the US Open? 00:11:43 Arthur Fils Makes History in Cincy! 00:21:20 How high are you on Big Foe after Cincy? 00:26:00 Coco Gauff Crowned Cincy Queen! 00:30:21 Biggest Winners Of The Week? 00:35:13 Quick thoughts on Djokovic's Documentary? 00:44:19 Takeaways from the Kygrios Suspension 00:52:08 Overreaction or Not? 00:58:39 Who Ya Got? Mixed Doubles US Open 01:00:52 Wrap Up 👑 KING CARLITOS IS BACK Carlos Alcaraz announces that he will return to the tour and play the US Open after almost five months out with the wrist injury that forced him to miss Roland Garros and Wimbledon. How much should we actually expect from him immediately? Can Alcaraz go from five months without competitive tennis straight into a Grand Slam and realistically win it? And with Sinner now out, has the entire tournament suddenly opened up for Carlos? 🚨 SINNER OUT OF THE US OPEN Jannik Sinner’s lingering knee injury continues, and he is forced to withdraw from the US Open. It completely changes the men’s draw. Does Alcaraz immediately become the favorite despite the layoff? Does this create Novak Djokovic’s clearest opportunity for Slam No. 25? And how worried should we be about Sinner beyond just New York? 🔥 ARTHUR FILS MAKES HISTORY IN CINCINNATI Arthur Fils puts together one of the biggest runs of his career. He leaves Cincinnati with a first Masters 1000 breakthrough, a career high around World No. 11, sixth place in the ATP Race, and some serious momentum heading toward New York. So how far are we willing to go? Is Arthur Fils entering the conversation with the very best players on tour? 🇺🇸 HOW HIGH ARE WE ON BIG FOE? Frances Tiafoe reaches another Cincinnati final and another Masters 1000 final. And his run was anything but easy. Against Brandon Nakashima, Tiafoe faced three set points serving at 4–5, saved all three, held serve and immediately broke. That is exactly the type of tennis Big Foe has not always produced consistently. So heading into the US Open: is Frances Tiafoe actually America’s best chance of ending the men’s Grand Slam drought? 🏆 COCO GAUFF CROWNED CINCINNATI QUEEN Coco Gauff wins Cincinnati again and picks up her first title of 2026. After dropping the first set she played all tournament, Coco kept getting better. She becomes only the third woman after Serena Williams and Victoria Azarenka to win multiple Cincinnati titles. And after the final, Coco gave her racket to an 80-year-old fan as a birthday gift. But the bigger tennis question: Is Coco now the clear US Open favorite? 📈 BIGGEST WINNERS OF CINCINNATI Beyond the champions, who actually improved their stock the most? Brandon Nakashima continues an incredible stretch after reaching the Montreal final and Cincinnati semifinal, including wins over Medvedev and Taylor Fritz. And Rafael Jodar continues forcing his way into the Next Gen conversation. 🎥 DJOKOVIC: THE WOLF IN WINTER Novak Djokovic’s new documentary The Wolf in Winter gives us plenty to debate. Does Djokovic actually need people to hate him? Did being tennis’ villain actually make Djokovic better? Djokovic’s motivation may never disappear. His body might eventually have to make the decision for him. With Sinner out and Alcaraz coming back after five months away… Is the 2026 US Open secretly Djokovic’s Last Dance for Grand Slam No. 25? 🚨 KYRGIOS SUSPENSION Nick Kyrgios has been provisionally suspended following a cocaine case. We discuss what the suspension means for Kyrgios and ask the uncomfortable question: Could this be the end of his professional career? 🧨 OVERREACTION OR NOT? Arthur Fils is currently the third best player on tour. Frances Tiafoe is America’s best chance at winning a Slam. An American man will reach the US Open final. Coco Gauff is the clear US Open favorite. Rafael Jodar is better than João Fonseca right now. 🎲 WHO YA GOT? We finish with our picks for the US Open Mixed Doubles. 👇 DROP YOUR TAKE With Sinner out and Alcaraz returning from a five-month absence, who is your US Open favorite right now? And did winning Roland Garros permanently change him mentally? ⚠️ Should we be worried about Alcaraz Carlos Alcaraz misses both Roland Garros and Wimbledon because of the right wrist injury from the Barcelona swing.
