Old Time Radio Comedy — Phil Harris-Alice Faye: "The First Show for Rexall" (1948) | Full Episode
The Phil Harris-Alice Faye Show was NBC's Sunday-night family comedy, with bandleader Phil Harris and movie star Alice Faye playing themselves at home, flanked by Elliott Lewis as Phil's work-shy guitarist Frankie Remley and Walter Tetley as Julius, the grocery boy who lives to make Phil's life harder. This is the October 3, 1948 premiere, the first broadcast under the Rexall banner after two seasons as The Fitch Bandwagon, and the writers turn the sponsor change into the plot. Phil and Alice head downtown to sign their new contract, Alice tells the boys to wait in the reception room, and within minutes Phil and Frankie are behind the drugstore cosmetics counter in borrowed smocks, demonstrating lipstick and rouge on each other for an unimpressed customer. Then Julius turns up, promising to tell the manager everything, and Phil chases him straight into the perfume display. By the time the contract reaches Phil's hand, he cannot hold a pen, and asking Frankie to sign for him turns out to be the worst idea of the afternoon. Phil sings "You Can't Do Wrong Doing Right." 🎧 46,000+ classic shows — unlimited listening for about 20¢ a day: https://www.vintageradioshows.com/go.php?d=membership&c=rss&s=Phil_Harris_Alice_Faye_Show_48-10-03_First_Rexall_Sponsored_Show 📱 Vintage Radio app for iPhone and iPad: https://www.vintageradioshows.com/go.php?d=app&c=rss&s=Phil_Harris_Alice_Faye_Show_48-10-03_First_Rexall_Sponsored_Show
