Why I Never Talk ‘Truth’ at Work: Colleagues Aren’t Your Friends
In this Friday “random rumination,” I reflect on what it’s like to be a truther while working a normal job and why I believe the workplace is never the time or place to discuss conspiracy, occult, or spiritual-warfare topics. Drawing on my experience as a supermarket deputy manager, I explain how being discovered as a conspiracy YouTuber damaged my career, changed how coworkers treated me, and made advancement impossible. I argue that coworkers aren’t real friends in a competitive, profit-driven environment and can use your views against you to protect their income or get ahead, leading to HR problems, discrimination, firing, blacklisting, and lost references. I encourage keeping your head down at work, protecting your livelihood, building savings if you plan to speak out, and finding safer outlets—anonymous online communities, meetups, church, or independent work—outside the job.
