The Lotus Sutra says the fiftieth person to hear its teaching gains merit beyond measure, then says the first hearer gains more. Greater than boundless? In this short reflection, we unpack the riddles of chapter 18 through the Ceremony in the Air and the middle way, and find we're the fiftieth person and the first hearer at the same time.
