Dr Lisa Cooper, The Flowers
"I might look too much at the poetics of life." – Dr Lisa Cooper On artist, author and floral designer Dr Lisa Cooper’s menu: a cupboard full of Cadbury’s, a tiny Neapolitan restaurant in Paris that sparked her own Belle Époque, and salad and cigarettes in Beijing - some of the best nights of her life. Sides include: losing her beloved father at just 14, the grandfathers who stepped in and shaped her life, writing The Flowers, discovering who she truly is, adventures around the world, and finding the love of her life. Lisa also shares why The Flowers have become part of the way we celebrate, grieve, remember and love - and what their fleeting, miraculous lives can teach us about our own. Lisa’s social cause is Transcend Australia, an organisation supporting trans, gender diverse and non-binary young people and their families. Their work provides information, peer support and community for families navigating the questions, complexity and vulnerability that can come with a young person affirming their gender.
