There Will Be Duds

There Will Be Duds

A weekly conversation on twitch turned podcast. We review a wide variety of films drawn randomly from a cup -- the twist is that once a month we review a "bad" movie, or, a dud.

The podcast is broadcasted on Twitch and YouTube every Wednesday at 7pm EST at twitch.tv/ThereWillBeDuds

    217 - City of God

Odds and Ends: More very cool Youtube automation and restrictions; we both saw a new movie, and it's actually not one that's been out for months already! In fact, it's not really out in wide release at all. Look at us, like movie people who watch movies and review movies. Feature Film: We talk about the crime classic City of God, and I can't think of anything else to say about it right now. It be like that sometimes. Next episode's movie: The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension (1984) wsg Kevin Rowles You can join the conversation Wednesdays at 7pm EST! 216 - Troy & The Odyssey wsg Josh Matthews (Learning About Movies)

The audio (and video) was kind of funky this episode. I did the best I could, but there's going to be some echoing here and there throughout. Feature Film: Josh from Learning About Movies returns to the show again for our double feature on two adaptations of the Homeric epics, those being Troy and the recent The Odyssey. We throw our traditions aside and just kind of review them together. There is a lot to compare and contrast here, they are two parts of the same whole in a way. So you can't say anything about it because I already did. Next episode's movie: City of God (2002) You can join the conversation Wednesdays at 7pm EST! 215 - The Good, the Bad, the Weird

Odds and Ends: Honoring the dead for sure for real; we talk about the recent Apple TV hit Widow's Bay Feature Film: Dipping back into Korean cinema with Kim Jee-woon's send up to spaghetti westerns, most specifically Sergio Leone's classic of almost the same name. It's like that turned up to 11 and way more anime, it's what Jee-woon himself calls a "kimchi western" which is, I have to say, very clever, my good sir. Twenty points to Gryffindor, here's your Reddit gold, tip of the fedora, all that. Now, if that doesn't make you want to listen to the episode, I don't know what will. 214 - The Relic/The Item (wsg/Regs)

Odds and Ends: It's America's birthday (give or take), and a big one at that! To honor this great nation, we discuss some fun undertold stories from our history. Feature Film: Regs returns to bring us a dud this time, that being The Relic, about a monster thing in a box that breaks out and terrorizes people. Inspired by the similar plot and title, T.J. also made everyone watch The Item, a movie that... Regs says doesn't count as a movie. Which is fair, but at least it delivers on the goods. 213 - Crash

Odds and Ends: We talk about homemade food things that should be monstrosities, but then you try it and da bih ga. Feature Film: Widely regarded as one of, if not the worst best picture winner ever, we talk about Crash in all of its misguided glory, leading to a first ever judgement call in Duds history. Everyone in this is racist and so are you, just so you know. But no one else is as bad as the Asians, at least. 212 - The Apartment

Odds and Ends: T.J. quizzes newly christened Star Wars watcher Nick on his knowledge of Glup Shittos; we both watched another great 2026 horror movie, isn't that great? Feature Film: Billy Wilder makes his third appearance on the show as we discuss yet another classic of his, the classic rom com The Apartment. Ahead of its times in ways, very much... with its times in others. But hey, Jack Lemmon and Shirley MacLaine are in it and are both very cute, so let's focus on that stuff! 211 - From Dusk Till Dawn/Apex (wsg/Regs)

Odds and Ends: We're joined by Regs, host of our sister podcast (in T.J.'s head, we talk about it), No Country for Old Films! And many many more, actually, he's quite the busy boy. In an attempt to make him feel comfortable, T.J. has an additional in-house guest from Regs' neck of the woods. Feature Film: Regs brings in two movies this episode, the first being the cult classic From Dusk Till Dawn, one of many collaborations of Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino. The second being the recent Netflix movie Apex, representing Regs' homeland, but not representing his people. Well, according to him, but as the movie Apex taught me, they're not to be trusted. 210 - Daddy Can't Dance

Odds and Ends: We talk about the smash hit Desert Warrior, funded by the Saudi royal family; y'all heard about this Westeros? Feature Film: It's Daddy Can't Dance, or White Men Can't Dance. Either way, Pete Weaver can't dance. Well, okay, he can, but not well enough to do any good here. Might as well just do more horrific Nutty Professor impersonations, except please don't. I feel like I had a point I was taking this at first, but I lost it, and now I guess I'm just done, not even going to retry. If Peter Vinal doesn't have to try to get a movie made, why should I try? There we go, I made a point eventually. Sort of. Maybe I should've stopped talking before. Next episode's movie: From Dusk Till Dawn & Apex wsg Regs from No Country for Old Films! 209 - Paranoia Agent

Odds and Ends: How's Myspace doing in 2026? Oh...; we talk about the drama, er, The Drama, with capital letters, because it's a movie title, so it's a proper noun, and those are capitalized. Just a lil bit of knowledge from yours truly. Feature Film: Our feature film this episode is... not a feature film! It's a miniseries by Satoshi Kon, who we've covered multiple times on the show, but still have yet to discuss one of his actual feature films. Anyway, this is a show, not a movie, and it's about a bunch of sad people or whatever and a very happy boy with a bat. I think so, at least, I'm not used to watching TV shows, so I get confused very easily. Why are there credits every 20 or so minutes? Those are just supposed to be at the end! 208 - Con Air

Odds and Ends: T.J. went to Florida to see the launch of Artemis II, but mostly just helped rescue marine animals Feature Film: Maybe THE ultimate dude movie of the 90s, Con Air features a huge lineup of stars, or at least faces you'll probably know from something, even if you can't quite figure out what it is. It's Cage at his Cagiest, because despite the lack of big freakout moments, there's something undeniably Cagey about Cameron Poe. 207 - Return to Oz

Odds and Ends: We watched some new stuff, how about that? Nick talks about the HBO prestige trash show Neighbors, and we both talk about the movie that basically everyone's seen anyway so why even talk about it really, Project Hail Mary Feature Film: We return to Oz! Or actually, we just go there, since we've never covered an Oz movie on the show, but the movie is called Return to Oz, so I thought that that would still work, but now that I typed it out, it doesn't really make any sense at all. Oh well. I tried, and that's the important thing, right? Next episode's movie: Con Air (1997) You can join the conversation Wednesdays at 7pm EST! 206 - The Underground Comedy Movie

Odds and Ends: T.J. talks about the hot new indie game Rollercoaster Tycoon 2; rising from the ashes of another month of duds, we go over the current state of the dud list Feature Film: Choosing pain over pleasure, T.J. picked The Underground Comedy Movie, and what an apt choice it was. Directed by Vince Offer, this is about equally as awful as his other movie InAppropriate Comedy, which means it very well could be the worst movie we've had to endure on this show. 205 - Freddy Got Fingered

Odds and Ends: We attempt to break down the WB/Paramount/Netflix love triangle, which spirals into T.J. advocating ethical body shaming; Nick talks about the new Gore Bervinski (iykyk) movie Feature Film: We discuss the misunderstood (?) classic (?) by Tom Green (???), Freddy Got Fingered, which isn't really about that at all. It's more about... screaming and disappointed fathers. Extremely relatable for two adult males who have a podcast. 204 - White Chocolate

Odds and Ends: Nick's very un-romantic romance double feature for Valentine's Dayl; T.J. raves about the movie based on the show about the band named Nirvanna the Band, but I forget what it's called... wocka wocka, ba dum tshhh, thanks folks I'll be here til next Wednesday at 7 pm EST, oh lord, someone stop me! Please. Feature Film: We discuss the misguided (or intentionally poorly guided?) rom-com White Chocolate, featuring world famous host of The Hunk, Anthony Napoli! A movie that may be attempting to be progressive, but comes off as more transgressive than anything else. 203 - The Bye Bye Man

Odds and Ends: We do a belated overview of our favorite stuff from 2025. Games, shows, movies, music, etc. Actually, no etc., I think it's just those four things; we also both saw the new Sam Raimi movie Send Help, so we... well, we talk about that, too, what do you think? Feature Film: Kicking off another dreaded month of duds for March Badness, Nick brings in the horror anti-classic, The Bye Bye Man! And now that you've heard those words in sequence, I guess you're going to die now. Which is probably what you'll want after watching this movie anyway, so win-win? We're opening the vault again, which we've started using as a means to feature stuff other than what we normally do on the show. This time, we're doing video games! Again. Nintendo video games! Again. It's the Nintendo 64, in all it's janky and dated glory. This is part 1 of an eventual trilogy of episodes on the console, to be completed at some point in the future! 200 - The Evil Dead Trilogy

Happy 200th to us! To celebrate, we invited some friends to a cabin in the woods to talk about some movies, most of which take place at a cabin in the woods. We didn't necessarily plan on doing two Sam Raimi trilogies in a row for our milestone eps, but what can I say? The guy makes good movies. We also screen our own Evil Dead-inspired movie, The Ungrateful Dead and do a sort of live VJ style commentary. If you're listening to this as podcast, this one might be better to watch the video with, but here's the link to The Ungrateful Dead on Youtube if you want to check it out on your own: https://youtu.be/tP1h3qdTDQ4?si=lXb1iSZEbntL6tWL Next movie: Took a break after this whopper of an ep and decided to pull from the Duds vault for the next episode, where we're talking about the Nintendo 64! Okay, calm down, it's not that exciting Feature Film: Proving Tarantino wrong, we talk about the great Matthew Lillard and SLC Punk!, a cult indie about some culty indies, or something.
