Josiah Tostenson & Tayvon Kitchen: The Fastest Duo in High School History Are Just Getting Started: Inside Their Chase Of Alan Webb's HS National Mile Record Of 3:52

Today's episode is special—and honestly, it might be historic. We've got two of the fastest high school distance runners in the country—maybe ever—joining us just days before they toe the line at one of the most anticipated races of the year: the Festival of Miles. First up: Josiah Tostenson. He's the second-fastest indoor miler in U.S. high school history, clocking a blistering 3:57.41 at Boston University. He was named the 2023–24 Gatorade Track and Field Player of the Year. With a New Balance NIL deal and a future at the University of Washington, Josiah is already running at a professional level while still in high school. Then there's Tayvon Kitchen—the quiet tactician with a monster engine. He broke the national high school record in the 3,000 meters with a jaw-dropping 7:55.48 at the 2025 Husky Classic. He became just the seventh U.S. high schooler to run under 4 minutes indoors, and capped his cross country season as Oregon's Gatorade Player of the Year. He's BYU-bound and has shown time and again he knows exactly when to strike. Together, they're teammates, rivals, and co-authors of one of the most electric seasons we've ever seen—and it's all coming to a head at the Festival of Miles. Today's podcast is a conversation with two best friends who happen to be the two fastest runners in the country. Tune in for stories, training insights, and good ol banter. Oh, and some MASSIVE talk around Festival of Miles. This one won't disappoint you. Tap into the Josiah Tostenson and Tayvon Kitchen Special. Olin Hacker Just Won His First U.S. Title — Here’s the Story You Didn’t See Coming

Today’s guest needs no introduction—but he definitely earned a new one. Olin Hacker is back—and this time, he's bringing a U.S. title with him. Just weeks ago, Olin stormed to victory at the USATF 5000m Championships in Indianapolis, running 13:32 to claim his first national crown. But this moment wasn’t built in a month—it was years in the making. As a collegiate runner, Olin secured multiple Big Ten championships while running for Wisconsin in 2022, winning both the indoor 3000m and 5000m events, as well as the outdoor 5000m. The highlight came in 2022 at the Oregon Relays, where he shattered the meet record in the 5000m, clocking 13:19.34 and improving his personal best by 16 seconds. The rise continued, as Olin represented the U.S. at the 2024 World Athletics Indoor Championships, finishing fifth in the 3000m with a season-best of 7:45.4. The Wisconsin Badger alum owns impressive PRs of 13:08.76 in the 5000m, 7:38.10 in the 3000m, and 3:56.59 in the mile. He took advantage of an extra year of eligibility due to the COVID-19 pandemic, returning for a seventh year, and claiming an NCAA 5000m victory. In today's conversation, Olin walks me through his recent win at the USATF road 5k championships, winning his first national title, his new mindset going into 2025, why he's racing more this year, going back to FOM next month, his goals for USA's 2025, and starting a podcast. Riley Chamberlain: NCAA Champion, Record Breaker & The Clutchest Closer in College Track

Some runners show up. Others shut it down when it counts. Riley Chamberlain is doing both. The BYU junior has become one of the most dangerous closers in the NCAA, helping lead the Cougars to back-to-back national titles in the Distance Medley Relay—including their record-breaking 10:37.58 this season, which shattered both NCAA and BYU records. But Riley’s not just a relay weapon. She’s been lighting it up solo, too—dropping 8:40.89 in the 3000m at the Husky Classic, the second-fastest time in the NCAA this year, and earning Second-Team All-American honors indoors. With PRs of 4:08 in the 1500, 4:26 in the mile, and that scorching 8:40 in the 3K, Riley is quickly becoming one of the most consistent—and clutch—names on the track. A former California Gatorade XC Athlete of the Year, two-time state champ, and NXN qualifier, Riley was a force back in high school. Now, she’s elevating her game on the national stage—racing smart, closing hard, and building a legacy at BYU. In today's conversation, Riley walks me through her recent success in the sport, her ambtions for the future, winning NCAA titles, the culture of BYU, and much more. If you're someone who is up-and-coming and looking to take that next step, this one is for you. Tap into the Riley Chamberlain Special. Representing Freeland High School, TJ is a two-time Nike All-American and finished runner-up at the 2024 Nike Cross Nationals, crossing the line in 15:30.60 — just 2.5 seconds off the win. TJ also claimed the Gatorade Michigan Boys Cross Country Player of the Year title for 2024–25 and double-won at the Michigan Division 2 state meet in both the 1600m and 3200m. His PRs show he’s got range and firepower: he has run 1:54.27 in the 800m; 3:47.05 in the 1500m; 4:03.87 in the mile; 8:51.12 in the two-mile; and 14:24.40 in the 5,000m. In today's conversation, TJ walks me through his successful career thus far, how he's risen to be one of the best, choosing Colorado, his ambtions and journey for Sub 4, how Festival Of Miles plays into that, his training, getting hit by a car, and more. Keegan Smith: 14:23 XC, 4:04 Mile Injured, NCAA Dreams, and His Relentless Chase for a Sub-4 Minute Mile

As Keegan Smith is apt to say, winning isn’t everything – running your best is. Up next in our 2025 HOKA Festival of Miles series, we welcome one of the most dominant high school distance runners in the country: Keegan Smith, straight out of Tennessee. From the moment he laced up as a freshman, Keegan’s been smashing records and turning heads. He opened his high school career by dropping a 14:53.79 5K — the fastest ever by a U.S. freshman in cross country — then lit up the track with a 4:14.63 mile and an 8:52.96 3,200m, both national freshman records. Fast forward to his senior year: Keegan clocked a blistering 14:23.26 at the Nike Cross Southeast Regional, breaking the Tennessee state record and proving he's still leveling up. He closed out his high school XC career with wins at NXR Southeast and Foot Locker South, and shattered three all-time course records along the way. His PRs speak for themselves: he has run 1:51.93 in 800m; 3:55.64 in the 1500m; 4:11.90 in the mile; 8:54.97 in the two-mile; and 14:23.26 in the 5,000m in cross country. The longer the race, the stronger he gets. Now committed to the University of Colorado, Keegan’s taking his talent to one of the top distance programs in the nation. And with NIL deals already in place with HOKA and Precision Fuel & Hydration, he’s not just running fast — he’s building a brand. In today's conversation, Keegan shares behind-the-scenes stories from my marathon (lol), what it was like to run a local race, his breakdown of XC postseason, why his XC season was so meaningful to him, running a 4:04 Mile while being injured, his ambitions for the outdoor track season, and racing the 2025 HOKA Festival of Miles meet.
