Being influenced by the likes of MF Doom, Kool Keith and Lupe Fiasco, Patch’s extensive discography leans heavily into sampling as well as topical and conceptual lyrical content, packing a punch for any avid listener of the genre. His understanding of the culture and dedication to authenticity set him apart from the rest as an artist that has a deep care for the art he creates and every time I listen, I find myself being taken away to a new place within each track, both sonically and lyrically. Something I appreciate about Patch is his honest opinions and ability to drop knowledge about music on a dime. Putting me onto numerous artists and albums that I hold very close to my heart and is constantly willing to share his taste whenever I get the chance to chat with him. Growing up, Jordan found himself listening to a range of different music, such as Ludacris and Tim McGraw to later finding J. Cole and Kendrick Lamar, his influences have always been and still continue to be, present, even in his music to this day. Something I appreciate about Jordan is his kindness and authenticity as a human, as well as his humility and perspective on artistry, as he navigates everyday working towards his goals and I’m very excited to hear what he has coming out in the future days.
