The Plankman Show Podcast 8-27-2026
1st Official "Podcast" was a success. We paid tribute to Dolly Parton, Tim Curry & a few others that have pasted this past week. We talked about the upcoming Icarus Fell Show & Played them as well. Talked about the Rikki Rocket show at The Token August 29th and played some Poison. We talked about Mick Blankenships Birthday show coming up at The Token as well a played his music. We also talked about The Plush show at The Machine Shop tonight(August 28th). We also played Y & T , Plethora & Shadow of The Talisman to round out the 1st official podcast. The Plankman Show 8-20-2026 Last LIVE SHOW
Well that was a HELL of a way too end the LIVE shows on tapdetroit.com! Always a good time when @JezterDetroit comes in studio BUT he brought along Brian from HALLOWEEN! WTF?! What a way to end the LIVE format. Thanks Brian for coming in sharing stories about Halloween & just the music scene in general. Holy COW! So obviously we played Halloween, Social Fever and we started off with 1 of my favorite local bands Belling The Tiger. We also played Royal Bliss to end the show as we always do. Thursdays show was a lot of fun & Educational. We of course had our pal Jezter on to talk all things Jezter & Soot & he drop us some new upcoming music from Red Snow. Keep your eyes out for that. We also talked the benefit for Julie at Road Rangers Saturday June 5th and Jezter brought us some OLD Tapdetroit.com promos & commercials he & I had made years ago. We also discovered a new band called Beef Supreme that was a pleasant surprise. We also discussed how I ended up moving back to Michigan 24 years ago thanks to “Tiny” Tim Cook & Jordan Johnson. So we took a long trip down memory lane but it was fun remembering my time in Radio & TV in the Cincinnati Area. We tried our 3rd attempt to do a duel show. Had some problems with Sam Broadcaster BUT after fixing them we did a shorter version of the show. Thursday nights show We celebrated The upcoming Dream Theater concert in Detroit on Sunday 9/21. We also were joined by SPECIAL Guest Co-Host Chris Lucas from Poundtown Prophet to fill in for the sick Ted. We played music from Poundtown Prophet, Belling The Tiger & of course Dream Theater. There was A LOT of discussion about our local music scene & we even discussed back in the days of Underland. It was a fun night & I'm really glad Chris came on to make it a fun show. The Plankman Show 7-31-2025 Mike Thompson Haunting
Thursdays show was very strange. Right off the start our board was not working. It was on but no sound no nothing. Everything was play on our website but WE couldn't hear it. This went on for the first 20 minutes. So in a panic I played Candlebox & Magnus Karlsson just to keep the connection to the server. Then we finally had sound on our board. I wanted to start the show off with Shinedown "Second Chance" but apparently someone else had other plans. Which is why I debated not even posting this show. People will think I'm crazy! OH well. Mike won. Eventually played the Shinedown song & the show was somewhat normal. Played music from Volcano, Eva Under Fire, Psychostick,PlethorA,Protokult,Shudder,Dope Rhyme Villains, Royal Bliss & THe Beatles. Anything I left out can be heard by clicking the player below. R.I.P. The Plankman Show 7-24-2025 Mike Thompson
1 of the toughest shows I've ever done but with the support of you the listeners,friends & of course "Tiny" Tim Cook & Ted Eberly we got through this show to pay tribute to a guy that did more for local musicians then anyone in this state! He will be greatly missed around the local music "Scene" here in metro Detroit. He not only helped local bands but also did work for some BIG name artist's such as SHINEDOWN & Saliva just to name the ones I know. I'm sure there's some I'm leaving out. Mike was always there not just to support the bands but to support his friend's as well. He supported "The Tiny & Plankman Show" longer then anyone. He supported tapdetroit.com and of course many local establishments. Shinedown's performance at Little Caesars Arena will be dedicated to him. He was suppose to be a guest of Zach Meyers at the show as the 2 had become great friend's over the years. His brother's will be there as well as many close friend's. We played some of Mike's favorite local bands along with music from Shinedown. Ray Street Park Ominous Presence Poundtown Prophet These were just a few of the local bands Mike cared VERY patiently about. You will be missed Mike Thompson
