Julian Glover CBE: "I'm not a very nice person!" Star Wars, Dr Who, Bond, Indiana Jones, Game of Thrones
Few actors can boast a career like Julian Glover’s. Over seven decades, he has gone from the Royal Shakespeare Company to starring in some of the biggest films and television series ever made. From Game of Thrones, Doctor Who and Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back to Indiana Jones, James Bond and Harry Potter, Julian has worked with an extraordinary range of actors, directors and performers. We chat and laugh about a lifetime on stage, television and the big screen including, of course, both of our work on classic Doctor Who ! This interview took a little arranging, but I’m sure you’ll agree it was worth it. As always I enjoyed discovering where our careers almost overlapped, reminiscing about people we’ve both met and looking back at the different paths we’ve taken over the years. Every two weeks, The Peter Purves Podcast, hosted by Doctor Who and Blue Peter star Peter Purves, brings you open and honest conversations with guests from across entertainment, packed with memories, insight and the kind of moments only lived experience can offer. Lots of exclusive content and support the podcast by joining our Patreon as a badge winner! https://www.patreon.com/cw/PeterPurves If you enjoy the show, please rate review and share. Could More Doctor Who be Found? Film is Fabulous and Peter Purves
One of my most requested interviews! I talk to Sue Malden, Professor Justin Smith and John Franklin at Film Is Fabulous about their remarkable work preserving Britain’s film and television history, and the discovery of missing Doctor Who episodes. Thanks to their efforts, thousands possibly millions of Doctor Who fans have had the opportunity to watch Episodes 1 and 3 of The Daleks’ Master Plan. There is, of course, no promise that more missing episodes will be discovered, but with Film Is Fabulous! championing the search, we can always hope. During our conversation, I discovered some fascinating details about the story behind these recovered Doctor Who episodes that I had never heard before. We also discuss their latest news and what it could mean for the future of film and television preservation. I took the opportunity to thank Sue and the team personally for helping to make more of my performance as Steven Taylor in Doctor Who available to the fans, and for that matter to me! You can find details of the Film Is Fabulous! Sue Cook Returns: Tom Baker, Alan Partridge & Everything Else
Peter Purves star of Doctor Who and Blue Peter welcomes broadcaster and television icon Sue Cook back to the podcast. This time, nothing is off limits! So many of you enjoyed my first conversation with Sue that I simply had to invite her back. And this time we revisit one interview in particular that will be of significant interest to Doctor Who fans; her memorable encounter with the sometimes tricksy Tom Baker. And I worked up the courage to ask Sue how she really feels about her infamous Alan Partridge moment... because I know so many of you wanted me to!! This is my favourite kind of conversation, two old friends reminiscing and reflecting, sharing stories from a remarkable career in broadcasting. Sue is insightful, inspiring, she's wonderfully down to earth, and quite simply, one of a kind. I hope you enjoy this return visit. There's a little extra coming soon for Patreon supporters too. Adieu!

Sue Cook Hasn't Pulled Out! | Peter Purves, Doctor Who and Blue Peter Legend, Meets Sue Cook
Our guest today is one of Britain's most recognisable broadcasters. From Nationwide and Breakfast Time to Crimewatch and Children in Need, my friend Sue Cook became one of the defining faces of BBC television and famously "Pulled Out" from an Afternoon with Alan Partridge. There hangs a tale.. Before all that, Sue and I shared a very happy time presenting together on We're Going Places, so there's plenty to reminisce about, and a few twists and turns in Sue's remarkable life that will keep you listening to the very end. The Peter Purves Podcast brings you great conversations with the people who shaped Britain's television landscape, hosted by Doctor Who and Blue Peter legend Peter Purves. Peter Purves Interviews Steven Moffat: The Future of Doctor Who
My exclusive interview with multi-award winning writer and producer Steven Moffat. We discuss the past, present and yes, the future of Doctor Who, as well as his remarkable life and career, from sitcoms to Sherlock, and his journey from writer to showrunner during the Matt Smith and Peter Capaldi. I want to say how exciting I found this chat. For a writer to be so brilliantly talkative and honest is fantastic, and it made for a fascinating conversation. I think Doctor Who fans are going to find this one particularly special. As always, thank you so much for your continued support. It really does make all this possible. Best known to Doctor Who fans as the iconic Bernice Summerfield, Lisa has also played a major role in shaping Big Finish Productions as a director and creative force behind countless audio dramas. Since 1998 Big Finish has become one of the world's leading audio drama producers and Lisa was there from the beginning. Having worked together for more than 20 years, I was thrilled to sit down with Lisa to discuss her remarkable career, the craft of audio storytelling and what really happens behind the scenes at Big Finish. Peter Purves Remembers William Hartnell The First Doctor Who
Hello everyone.. In another special podcast, I remember the real William Hartnell. The first Doctor Who : the original, you might say... Much has been written and said about Bill over the years, and now, perhaps, it is my turn. No holds barred. I only hope I do him justice. This proved to be a particularly rewarding pod to put together. One question I found myself reflecting upon was this: when did I first become aware of Bill’s work? And that is where my tale begins… Along the way we explore a complex man who, in many ways, was both unusual casting and absolutely perfect casting for Doctor Who. I do hope you enjoy this and I very much look forward to hearing your thoughts on these recollections of Bill the man, the actor… and my friend. My Patreons got to hear and give feedback early to join and get exclusive content too https://www.patreon.com/cw/PeterPurves?l=en-GB Adieu.

Doctor Who’s Ace Sophie Aldred Meets Peter Purves
This week Peter Purves is joined by a true fan favourite, or as she calls it “The Fan’s Fan”, Doctor Who’s Sophie Aldred... best known as the explosive companion Ace. Hello everyone. She’s battled Daleks, Cyberman and evils from the dawn of time.. and now Sophie takes on my infuriatingly unstable broadband! I really did enjoy this conversation and I feel we heard stories never told before. As always we have lots in common being fellow travellers in the Who-neverse, and we have a distinctive bond, travelling with the first and last Doctors spanning over 25 years of the program. In a word, Sophie is Ace! Don’t forget you can enjoy exclusive bonus content at The Peter Purves Podcast | Patreon Adieu.

Dr. Who Convention Secrets with Peter Purves | Lost Episodes
Join me for what I hope is the first in a series of unique looks behind the scenes of a Doctor Who convention ..from a guest’s perspective! And what an event to start with. After years of rumours Film is Fabulous have made it possible for us to once again watch two more missing episodes of Doctor Who from The Daleks’ Master Plan. And they did not disappoint. For me, the biggest revelation is Douglas Camfield’s direction, really quite extraordinary. It was a wonderful day at Riverside Studios. This is my diary from the event, featuring Toby Hadoke, Nick Briggs and many others in attendance, along with my own perspective on what it’s been like to be at the centre of a remarkable month for the Doctor Who legacy. Thank you to the wonderful organisers and everyone I met. I hope you enjoy.
