Special edition. This week I’m reading you my newest essay, If Only I Were More Human — out loud, in my actual voice, the one format you can’t run through a detector.
The short version: Substack turned on an AI detector called Pangram, and it scored an essay I wrote alone on the Fourth of July at 83% AI. This episode is my answer. It’s a story about how I actually write—the chaos, the em dashes, my wife catching my comma splices—and about what the detector actually measures. Spoiler: it isn’t humanity.
The part I really want you to hear is the governance. A platform had a real problem, skipped the root cause, and deployed a measurement dressed up as a control. No intake. No root cause. Just symptom to solution. Governance is not measurement.
