Episode 1 | What Nobody Told Me | The Odyssey Podcast
I thought this podcast would be out in June. Instead, it became another reminder that even when we know our work matters, it can still be difficult to believe there is space for our own voice. There were the practical realities of motherhood. Two children who needed me in ways that couldn't be postponed. The invisible labour that fills every gap in the day. And alongside that, the familiar whisper asking whether what I had to say was enough. The irony isn't lost on me. I spend so much of my work encouraging women to take up space, to trust their intuition and to recognise the value of their wisdom. Yet I found myself wrestling with the very same stories that so many women carry. This is exactly why this podcast needed to exist. The Odyssey Podcast isn't just about birth or babies. It's about womanhood. It's about matrescence, grief, partnership, nourishment, the menstrual cycle, the village we've lost and the one we're capable of rebuilding. It's about asking bigger questions of a culture that depends on women while giving so little back in return. If you've ever waited to begin because you doubted yourself, or because life demanded everything you had, I hope this is your reminder that things don't have to be perfectly timed to matter. Sometimes they simply need to be ready. Welcome to The Odyssey Podcast. I'm so grateful you're here. 🤍
