Hospital | An Illich Epsiode
Yo!! In this solo episode, I talk a bit about going into The Hospital as someone who has effectively sworn off modern healthcare treatment. It was gnarly. Then I talk a bit about Ivan Illich, a guy who has a pretty robust critique of Modernity and its Institutions; including Education, Healthcare, Tranportation/Infrastructure, and Media/Communication. I then talk about where Illich fails and how he leaves himself open to Reactionary politics, and I offer my suggestion on how to preserve his critique while shifting to an even more structural view and seeing how Capital achieves a Radical Monopoly and is the source of Counterproductivity rather than the Institutions and Tools themselves having some essential manipulative qualities. In this Solo Dolo Brolo Bellybutton Extravaganza Episode, I invite you all to my fireside chat where we discuss things that've been on my mind of late. I talk about, Consciousness, Geoffrey Hinton and A.I. (of course), I talk about Family Values and Virtue Signaling (and Anti Natalism too!), I indulge in some reflexivity, and then I talk about Diversity as "our greatest strength" and why Contradiction and Negation make that sentiment true. The second half of this episode is better than the first, so you could just skip the first bit. But, also, I might make a reference toward the end that wouldn't make sense if you hadn't heard the first bit, so there's that. But, probably not, I think you'll be alright to maybe just skip this whole episode, now that I think about it; but, then again, the stuff on Hinton and Subjectivity is good, and also the stuff on Diversity. BatailleMaxxxing | The Accursed Share pt 6
Mikey The Dangerous Maybe and Sean No Future are here again! This is the sixth installment in our series of reading through and discussing The Accursed Share. Georges Bataille was a weird little French guy writing weird fiction, erotic poetry, and doing all types of ill s**t. Then, he witnessed the world wars, the rise of Fascism, and the Total Mechanization of Earth and those who call it home; so, he set out to do something about it. That something? Write a book about "political economy" that forces a Copernican shift and brings the man out from behind the curtain - that "man" being the deep structure we know as Capital, and that curtain the prevailing Ideology, or Narrative, that leads us all to believe that we are in fact the ones calling the shots. Bataille is essential for understanding Modernity, both for grappling with this otherworldly monster that intends to use up all our resources and convert us all into computronium; and for developing a ubiquitous "recognition" that we are all, in fact, Humans (whatever that means), and that we must give up this false belief in Capitalism and start managing our General Resources in a Social fashion, lest we blow ourselves up and leave the dolphins and octopuses to inherit our ruins. Mikey The Dangerous Maybe and Sean No Future are here again, again, again, again! This is the fifth installment in our series of reading through and discussing The Accursed Share! Georges Bataille was a weird little French guy writing weird fiction, erotic poetry, and doing all types of ill s**t. Then, he witnessed the world wars, the rise of Fascism, and the Total Mechanization of Earth and those who call it home; so, he set out to do something about it. That something? Write a book about "political economy" that forces a Copernican shift and brings the man out from behind the curtain - that "man" being the deep structure we know as Capital, and that curtain the prevailing Ideology, or Narrative, that leads us all to believe that we are in fact the ones calling the shots. Bataille is essential for understanding Modernity, both for grappling with this otherworldly monster that intends to use up all our resources and convert us all into computronium; and for developing a ubiquitous "recognition" that we are all, in fact, Humans (whatever that means), and that we must give up this false belief in Capitalism and start managing our General Resources in a Social fashion, lest we blow ourselves up and leave the dolphins and octopuses to inherit our ruins.
