Summer School with the Theology Department #4

It's the last episode of our summer series, Summer School with the Theology Dept! Today Marty and Craig are on the pod to talk about a Christian's battle between flesh and spirit. It's a really great conversation where we talk a little about grace, repentance, forgiveness, and sanctification, and we quote a lot from Paul's epistles. Season 3 of the Pod will start up in August with the new school year. If you have any topics you'd like to hear covered in Season 3, please email us at podcast@lhsparker.org. We'll end the season with another Q&A episode, so start thinking of your questions. Please share this podcast with anyone who would find this information helpful. Thanks for listening! Summer School with the Theology Department #3

Isaac Tewes and Tim Oberdieck are on the Pod today to talk about predestination. Although this topic can feel dense and even a little dicey, we hope you walk away from listening feeling assured about the hope we have in Christ. For some context to this episode, they recommend reading through Romans. *If this feels like homework, don't worry. Just because it's summer school doesn't mean you get a grade :) We only have one more episode of Summer School with the Theology Department left! Next time, Mr Kohlwey and Mr Parrott join us to wrap it up. Then, our regular podcast content will start back up again in August with the new school year. On this episode, theology teachers Jonathan Schlecht and Josh Shull, as well as science teacher Matt Buchholz, are on the podcast to talk about means of grace. At LuHi, we teach that means of grace are baptism, communion, and God's Word. They're ways God promises to give us life in the Spirit, grace, forgiveness of sins, and salvation. We have 2 more Summer School episodes to go before picking up the regular podcast schedule in August. What do you want to hear covered on the podcast in Season 3? Summer School with the Theology Department #1

We start our Summer School with the Theology Department series off with a discussion of Law and Gospel with teachers Caleb Fischer and Craig Parrott. Here are some of my favorite quotes from the discussion: "We talk a lot about Law and Gospel in Freshmen Theology. There are really three purposes of the Law: it functions as a curb, a mirror, and a guide. It shows us we can't follow God's law and save ourselves. And it's a guide: it shows us what to do." "If the law is our constant accuser, the Gospel is meant to comfort us." "All the parents listening, you know your heart is just to give to your kids. And what's the best thing [God] can give us is wanting to protect us from loving anything more than Him, our Greatest Good." "A lot of people who don't know God well see Him as an angry judge. But the angry judges in the world are us. The world is full of people who cannot wait to condemn others. But that's just not the heart of God." "A recent reflection I've had from reading Revelation with sophomores is that God isn't going to waste any of our suffering. He's going to use every ounce of it for our ultimate good. And we know that is true because it's true with His own Son." We hope you enjoy and are encouraged by this discussion! May 6 - Jubilate Tour Recap with Luke and Ella

This year, our honors choir went on tour to Southeast Colorado, Kansas, and Missouri. On the Pod, we talk with LuHi seniors Luke and Ella about the tour and their time in Jubilate. You'll also notice that the music in this week's episode is different. Throughout the episode, the regular music has been replaced with clips from Jubilate's performances from Tour. This week's Lukewarm Take comes from Technology Teacher Matt Chrysler about self driving vehicles. We go on quite the tangent. We cover a lot of ground, ranging from when a boy becomes a man to differences in the ways genders communicate to who should ask whom out. Plus, this week's lukewarm take is from Mr Ness, and as Zoeller says, it's something the LuHi staff enjoys poking fun at him about. (Lovingly as a family does, of course.)
