An X Foils and GFP Debrief of AWSI 2026 - A Little Midweek Brucey bonus

A relatively raw and indepth debrief into the AWSI event for 2026 with ourselves and the guys from the X Foils podcast - Dylan and Walt.We recorded an hour of us interviewing them, and then switched to an hour(ish) of them interviewing us - you can see their version on their own podcast this week also! Its so interesting hearing their views on the show and the goings on within the industry at the moment while coming from the more American side of it than us. Theres definite opposing views between all of us - but that’s not to say either of us in right or wrong. It creates some great conversation though!I'm mildly wary of this episode… only because it felt like it took a while for us to get going and I think I (Freddie) come across quite Doom and Gloom - maybe more than usual. Give it a chance, and maybe use our conversation as talking points. Theres definitely more to be discussed in future and we definitely ask a few more questions than we answer. Also check out part 2 on the X Foils Youtube and Spotify!

154 - Kernow Foil Classic 2026 - The OFFICIAL Debrief w/ Chris Burke

We knew we had to meet up quick to record a debrief and ‘deload' from what was a very intense week at the start of October - and a decent forecast midweek at Daymer Bay gave us the perfect setting. An epic parawing session in great conditions, followed by a smash burger and beer at Bluntrock Brewery to see out our evening catch up. The fourth year of the Kernow Foil Classic saw Chris raise the bar considerably with his grass roots foil comp he's been organising, and unless you've been under a rock you might've seen bits and pieces all over social media for the last couple weeks. We got a lot of compliments about this, but actually it was all Chris and his media team pumping out videos with our faces plastered on them. Enjoy this - Chris is a good mate and it was awesome to see him in full flow during the event - which absolutely went off. We were all was too exhausted and dazed to record anything like this on the Sunday of the event and hopefully a few days of winding down was what was needed to put some logical thoughts down for you guys all to hear. Whether you were at the event and curious to know what was going on behind the scenes, or watching the socials from the other side of the world - we've no doubt you'll enjoy this episode. For those of you wanting to get involved next year - the dates are already secured for 4th-10th October 2027. As always - rate us 5 stars, we don't accept anything else. If you fancy funding beers to event organisers in the future, check out https://buymeacoffee.com/gfpodcast and know that your money is spent responsibly!

    153 - Jon Modica - Cabrinha AWSI 2026

We sit down with Jon Modica from Cabrinha for our 153rd episode!Jon discusses their new foil, the Domani in great detail as well as how they've come about the new Nomad Parawing. Frustratingly we've not managed to use either yet as we've had such poor conditions since getting home and then rushed straight into the Kernow Foil Classic event at home where we spent most of the week running around interviewing everyone else! All in good time, Cabrinha have sent us a couple bits to have a play on and we're looking forward to it!Rate us 5 stars, follow on here, subscribe on YouTube, all that stuff. And if you'd be so kind, go to https://buymeacoffee.com/gfpodcast and chuck us a few quid to buy a beer if you fancy it!

    151 - What's coming from CODE FOILS in 2027?! Marcus Tardrew & Dan Juengling @ AWSI 2026

Sit down with us for the 151st episode of the Generic Foiling Podcast with Marcus Tardrew & Dan Juengling, Founders of Code Foils, live from AWSI 2026 in Hood River, Oregon. Code Foils are a relative newbie in the foiling game, but it doesn't feel like it! They've come heavily armed to this years event with a complete new board range, new mast, new foils and new witty banter for us. This is a generic foiling special. And by that I mean almost every discipline gets covered; pumpfoiling, winging, parawanging, finger blasting, e-foiling, sup foil and speedo selection. Rate us 5 stars, follow on here, subscribe on YouTube, all that stuff. And if you'd be so kind, go to https://buymeacoffee.com/gfpodcast and chuck us a few quid for our troubles.

We're out here in Hood River, ready and prepped for the show. The house has a hot tub, its cold out, and theres no wind - it makes us feel like a proper wanglordz chat... Lots going on, and the hypes building in town. Can't wait for the wind to return hopefully tomorrow - and the messages are flooding in, everyones arriving in town. We've put this chat up on youtube as well - check it out on our channel

    149 - Jezza the 4th - Jeremy Willmottes back

It had been too long, we couldn't help but catch up with the big fella. Christ it took a while to line up though - the mans busy! We find out whats been keeping him so busy the last few months - especially hearing about his latest trips to China and Greece which sounded like a tonne of fun. Efoil racing too - who thought this was such big business in China?? Last episode before we fly out to America once more for our third visit to Hood River for the AWSI show.... how time flies! Plenty of plans are in place for video and audio work while we're over there - so expect a spamming of content all over our social medias until everyones sick of us again.... If you'd like to fuel said sickening, check out buymeacoffee.com/gfpodcast to support us plying your favourite brands CEO's with beers while we extract info from them.

    148 - F4 Foils - Chris Radkowski

Someone we've been interested in chatting to for a while. Lots of talk around F4 currently, mainly from the Hawaii guys - so about time to hear something about them from the man himself. Chris joins us to discuss the brand along with this seasons downwind races and his successes there. Granted, we were really intrigued by his day to day professional job as well once he told us about that. We're hoping to ride some of the F4 kit on our 3rd trip out to Hood River in a couple weeks and hopefully we can share a beer with Chris in person then. For now, enjoy the episode If you like what we're doing and want to to support the beer caddy this year, check out https://buymeacoffee.com/gfpodcast

    147 - Edo the Champ

A threepeat for Edo this year at the M20 and he had a clean sheet throughout the Hawaiian race season this year. He's cementing himself as a real life force to be reconed with in the foiling world - he just needs to get his visa sorted so he can show it on the world stage now! We sit down and talk to the man himself to discuss what sounded like a savage race this year with conditions, as well as the ongoing interesting discussion about his gear, his sponsors and the foil choice he and fellow Slingshot team rider, Trent made going into this years season. Safe to say we're also very interested to hear more from the F4 foils perspective....! If you like what we're doing - consider buying us a beer to contribute to our upcoming and third trip to the AWSI show in America this September - buymeacoffee.com/gfpodcast - every little helps!

147 - Casa Del Liam and Freddies trip to Mauritius

lots has been going on outside of the Podcast world we've mde ourselves - and very little foiling has been going on in our world because of it! A little catch up to see how Liams house renovations been going - its kept him very busy! Freddie also spent a week on mauritius for a kite surf event which made for some funny shenanigans. Lots going on with the first couple downwind races as well - always nice to see whats going on with that niche!

  • June 22 · 1 hr 19 min

    145 - Guy's Big Send

We should't need to explain it - you all saw Guy's socials last week just gone - but the man did a big downwind send across the whole of the south coast of the UK. We managed to catch up with he and Emma a week later to see how it all came together - and what a story it is. This is a really fun, relaxed one - with a great story. Can't wait to do more in person interviews round Liams new house - just hope he doesn't bin the sofa set we were on, as they're so good for this! Of course we had a couple technical glitches..... apologies! If you like what we're doing, have a look over on https://buymeacoffee.com/gfpodcast and consider sending us some beer tokens for support. The aim is to get to America again and also further afield eventually.....

144 - Fred Hope and Slingshots Project Drag

Fred joins us to discuss the Project Drag programme from Slingshot. It feels like this has been a long time coming now, but thats maybe as we've talked on and off about it a lot already. Liams got a setup and he's also been riding his home made board which is based off Kens shape as well. Nows the time to delve deeper into how its going for Slingshot though and why they chose to go this route. Fred discusses how setting up their discord forum has enabled him to talk directly to the consumer and figure out which direction to take things. We know we've not been around for a while - its been peaceful! We've a few episodes coming up though, so while we might not be weekly again just yet - theres more to look forward to!

  • April 28 · 2 hr 12 min

    143 - Omen Foils - Greg Falck

One of our most requested interviewee's for a while now, we finally managed to all organise a time to chat. We don't see much/any Omen here in the UK but we're very much aware of it's presence - and Greg has cemented himself as one of those foil brands thats worth listening to. His Youtube presence has been solid since the beginning and even Liam and I have learnt a lot by listening to him explain the likes of mast shims in easy and precise language on the internet - well worth a watch if you haven't already. Enjoy the chat - its a lengthy one, and Liam and Greg really dive into the tech! We're still blaming a slow start to the year for our lack of episodes.... but I understand its now nigh on May!! You'll be happy to hear the suns out here in the UK, the winds been stonking and Liam and I have both had some awesome sessions - which means chatting about said sessions can only be a short time away.

    142 - Dave Kalama

When Gabriella Bella messages you to say that Dave Kalama wants to come on the podcast, you don't quite know what to believe. April fool's?! Cruel joke set up by the X Foils podcast? A messenger from someone Freddie's offended. What neither of us expected was that he was a semi regular listener and was keen for a chinwag. It is fair to say that we both thoroughly enjored the oppurtunity to share a conversation with this watersports legend and think we made the most of it! We hope you enjoy this one....if you don't, we'd may as well sack it all in!

  • March 24 · 1 hr 38 min

    141 - Dane Wilson

Videographer extraordinaire, Dane Wilson We met Dane for the first time last year when we were forced 'last minute' to MC his and Josh Ku's latest video escapades from Bali in Hood River. Turns out he's been involved with a fair few of our favourite foiling footage over the last few years - so we were keen to learn more. This is what its all about - enthusiasm and enjoyment. Thanks to Dane for taking the time - we look forward to catching up again in real time, now we're better acquainted! If you like what we're doing, check out https://buymeacoffee.com/gfpodcast to support. We're hoping to use the funds to buy beers in both America and Australia later this year.... God knows those Aussie beers are expensive.

    140 - A Session Debrief and the F-One Titan2

We've been quiet - its been a slow start to the year for both of us. But here we are, back with a nice new episode for all to hear. Liams bought a house and is spending his days rubbing the walls down with sand paper, so he's been far too pre-occupied to talk foiling. Coupled with the constant rain and lack of motivation to get out, we haven't actually foiled until this sunday just gone - my first session since NZ! So, we dissect a session and some more new kit as always, and we also put some thoughts down on this fancy new Titan2 system F-One have been getting some grief for. They're opinions, but they're fun ones. Hope everyones been getting out and about more than us!

  • February 16 · 1 hr 39 min

139 - Edo Tanas Joins Slingshot

The start of the year is always a fun one with regards shakes up in the industry. One such shake up was hearing that Edo was leaving F-one after a very successful couple years working with the brand. Where would he end up going? It might have come as a surprise to hear he was going to be working alongside the Slingshot guys - but I recon once you've listened to what the man himself has to say you'll understand the decision completely. A young man at the pinnacle of his discipline meets a young team with a tonne of potential at a brand with a strong heritage - we look forward to seeing where that can go!

138 - Ken Adgate & Kyle Touhey - Who doesn't want to own a Ken Adgate board? It seems one of the big brands were asking the same question!

FOILING NNEEEEWWWWWWSSSSZ! This is big! In this episode Liam sits down with Ken Adgate and Kyle Touhey...funnily enough, they talk about boards. The boys have wanted to have this catch up for a long time to review Liam's most recent DIY board project which they provided the shape for, but it got pushed quickly to the top of the to do list when we found out that one of the big dog foil brands were bringing the guy's most recent design concept to production. This is something I'm so stoked to see come to fruition and it is something that, now the wheels are in motion, I can't help being surprised it didn't happen sooner. Anyway, listen along to hear what they've been up to. We hope you enjoy the episode.

    137 - Freddies Kiwi Experience

Freddie went to New Zealand and had a great time - if thats all you need to hear, then maybe give this episode a miss.... If not, we delve into his time down under and the many multiple sessions had one many multiple discipline while down there. Some lovely chat on Parawangs too.... Get signed up to the newsletter if you aren't already, we send one every second Wednesday and they're a good bit of a laugh - some fun photos and content we maybe can't/won't share to le public Check out the website to sign up - https://genericfoilingpod.com/

136 - Kane De Wilde - KT Foiling

Kane De Wilde - Foiling extraordinaire and designer for KT foiling. This was a really enjoyable relaxed episode with Kane in which you get a sense about the man behind the riding and design. We cover a wide range of topics including: - Hollow board construction and comaprisons - Hawaii downwind race series & racing mindset - His personal design philosophies - Why he rides such a wide array of equipment and gets so creative with his riding. - Favourite pizza toppingsThere was some sort of audio interferance going on during recording unfortuantely which I've done my best to remove in the edit, sorry if you notice that and it affects the listening experience. We hope you enjoy the episode.
