He served a ten-year term as a member and Co-Chair of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Steering Committee, to create guidelines for neonatal resuscitation. He is an expert in the field of neonatal encephalopathy. He is an educator of patients and physicians and an advocate for babies in the NICU.
