Synopsis
(1) On 20 Marcheshvan the Rebbe Rashab’s “mazal prevails,” ascending in holiness from year to year. (2) The connection between his age and the corresponding chapter of Tehillim continues even after his histalkus (“There is aging in the grave”), as demonstrated in the well-known story about the maamar delivered by the Rebbe Rashab in Gan Eden on a verse in Tehillim corresponding to his age, several years after his histalkus. (3) One of the Rebbe Rashabs’s main focuses was to increase the yearning for the Redemption, as explained in the well-known sichah of Simchas Torah (Kol Hayotzei L’milchemes Beis David). (4) A lesson from the verse (in sheini of parashas Chayei Sarah), “Avraham was old, coming in days, and Hashem had blessed Avraham with everything”: “The deeds of the fathers are a sign for the children” – they bring about a similar effect in the children. Every Jew possesses the quality of “coming in days” meaning the complete fulfillment of every day’s service, and Hashem blesses them “with everything,” which encompasses all the blessings. Nothing remains but to bring about the shidduch and marriage of Yitzchak and Rivkah (the union of Mah and Ban), which represents the final Redemption, which is hastened through tzedakah etc.
