מפני שבמדינה ההיא היתה אז התגברות הקליפה של לבושים ואדה"ז רצה לשבור אותה בעניו זה. 1) ב' חלקים משיחת מוצש"ק פ' נח, אור לז' מרחשון ה'תש"מ 2) משיחת י"ט כסלו ה'תשכ"ג ל"הנחה פרטית" או התרגום ללה"ק של השיחה: https://thedailysicha.com/?date=19-10-2026 Synopsis (1) Parashas Lech Lecha comes after parashas Noach: In order to truly advance in a manner beyond all proportion – “Lech lecha” – to the essence of the soul – one must face the “mighty waters” (opposition, challenges and tests etc.) and stand firm against thim. Then, as a result, “I will make your name great...” This is the mission of every individual: to “go forth” and leave “your land” (one’s personal desires), “your birthplace” (one’s habits), and “your father’s house” (conventional balebatishe norms). Then one is assured not only that the “mighty waters cannot extinguish the love,” but on the contrary, “you will be a blessing.” (2) Because a person is affected by the time and place, one’s service must be tailored to the circumstances of that particular place and time. One of the proofs for this is from the verse (in rishon of parashas Lech Lecha) stating that when Avraham arrived in Egypt he said to Sarah, “Behold, now I know that you are a woman of beautiful appearance” (“until then he did not recognize this about her because of modesty…”). The question is asked: Why did he look at her now? The explanation given is that this was the kelipah of Egypt, and it had an effect even on Avraham. This is also seen in a story of the Alter Rebbe: After the Mitteler Rebbe’s son got married, his grandfather the Alter Rebbe promised him that if he would agree to remove the fancy collar from his fur coat, he would merit to be together with the Alter Rebbe in the World to Come. Because in that country at that time there was a particular intensification of the kelipah associated with clothing, and the Alter Rebbe wanted to break it from the outset.
