Millions all over the world know him as Sheikh Assim Al-Hakeem — the familiar voice behind countless lectures, Q&A sessions, and Islamic programmes watched across the globe. But many may not know his surprising origin story and journey: Before the international conferences. Before the television appearances. Before becoming a source of knowledge for Muslims worldwide. In this special episode of The Barakah Effect, we explore the personal journey of Sheikh Assim Al-Hakeem — a journey filled with unexpected opportunities, life-changing encounters, and doors that Allah opened at moments he never imagined. From a best friend who sparked the love of Islam, to a choice of an "easy" degree that eventually opened up the doors of spreading knowledge, to a circumstantial vacancy at the masjid that paved the path to step up, and so much more..This conversation is not just about the story of Sheikh Assim. It is an inspiring reminder, that change, transformation, can happen at any stage of life. That Allah can use the skills, experiences, and circumstances we already have — even the things we consider ordinary — for a purpose far greater than we imagined.Sometimes the biggest chapters of our lives begin with a door that looks ordinary, with hardships that we don't fully grasp its wisdom — until Allah places barakah in it. .. and we are never "too old" to pivot into something greater for the sake of Allah.🎙️ Listen to this inspiring conversation and discover the journey behind one of today’s most recognisable Islamic speakers.Follow Sheikh Assim Al-Hakeem:▶️ https://www.youtube.com/@assimalhakeem📷 instagram.com/assimalhakeem📱facebook.com/SheikhAssimAlhakeemTeam🌍 assimalhakeem.net#SheikhAssimAlHakeem #IslamicReminder #BarakahEffect #MuslimInspiration #Dawah

Is the Ummah becoming WEAK? Strength, Masculinity & the Modern Muslim Crisis | Abu Mussab | 109

We live in an era where Muslims have more access to Islamic knowledge than any generation before us, yet many feel psychologically, mentally, and physically weaker than ever. We default to an apologetic stance on our identity, caught between modern secular life and Islamic values, unsure of where we stand. What most people miss is that true strength and success are completely inverted by divine standards, demanding that we conquer our lower desires rather than conform to social trends. This conversation unpacks the modern Muslim crisis and why rebuilding the "strong believer" is the only way to safeguard our communities and secure a lasting legacy. To tackle this subject, we have a conversation with Sheikh Abu Mussab. In this episode, we discuss:✅ Why does the modern Ummah feel so weak and anxious despite having more access to Islamic content than any generation before us?✅ How do we break free from an apologetic mindset and confidently reclaim what it truly means to be a strong believer today?✅ What are the real dangers of turning to external political or social movements for identity when Islam has already laid down our psychological foundations?✅ Is physical fitness a personal lifestyle choice or a communal responsibility to ensure we never become a burden on those we love?✅ Why do we treat our relationship with Allah like a vending machine, expecting instant results, instead of submitting fully to life on His terms?✅ How do we confront the modern crisis of masculinity and equip the next generation to carry the weight of this Ummah?ℹ️ ABOUT OUR GUEST: Sheikh Abu MussabBefore Islam, Sheikh Abu Mussab lived at the opposite extreme — a Buddhist rapper embedded in street culture. His transformation was total. Since then, he has dedicated years to Islamic scholarship and built a globally recognised platform, One Way To Paradise, known for lectures that are direct, grounded, and deeply practical. His work has circulated widely online for over a decade, with one of his most impactful lectures, The Helpless Slave of Allah, reflecting the depth and honesty he brings to every topic. What makes his perspective unique is his ability to speak to young Muslims navigating modern pressures, bridging the gap between street subcultures and orthodox Islamic principles — because he has lived both worlds.GUEST SOCIAL LINKS: 📷 Instagram: @1way2paradise 🫂 Facebook: One Way To Paradise ▶️ YouTube: @onewaytoparadise📍 CHAPTERS0:00:00 Is the Ummah becoming Weak? 0:03:49 The Strong Believer 0:08:30 Identity Crisis: the Solution 0:18:05 Masculinity, Feminisn & Gender Roles 0:27:13 Strength in Jamaah 0:29:42 Diversify or Focus, Specialize? 0:34:50 Developing Resilience 0:44:10 Physical Strength 0:55:08 One Big Lesson Abu Mussab hopes to leave behind

Islam is always seen as a religion of Do's and Don'ts, restrictions and constraints. A Qur’anic Reset on Status, Success & Significance: Inspirations from Surah Abasa | Faisal | 105

In a world that constantly measures people by status, influence, and visibility, the Qur’an quietly challenges us with a very different metric. This Sunday, 15 March at 11:00am (GMT+8), join Faisal and The Barakah Effect team for a live reflection on Surah Abasa titled:“A Qur’anic Reset on Status, Success & Significance.”In a world obsessed with followers, titles, and who’s sitting at the "important" table, Surah Abasa offers a radical, 1,400-year-old reality check. It’s the Surah that began with a frown and a turning away—not from an enemy, but from a sincere seeker—to teach us a lesson about what truly carries weight in the sight of Allah. This powerful surah begins with a brief but profound moment in the life of the Prophet ﷺ — when a blind companion, Abdullah ibn Umm Maktum, approached him seeking guidance while he was speaking to influential leaders of Quraysh. In response, Allah revealed verses that would forever redefine how we think about importance, sincerity, and true success.Through this surah, the Qur’an invites us to reflect:• Who truly matters in the sight of Allah?• Do we unconsciously prioritise influence over sincerity?• How often do we overlook the quiet seekers of guidance around us?• What does the Qur’an really teach us about status and significance? In this session, Faisal will draw from classical tafsir sources, while exploring practical lessons from this surah that speak directly to modern life — leadership, humility, spiritual priorities, and the subtle ways we measure success.Surah ‘Abasa is more than a historical incident. It is a mirror for our hearts, reminding us that the people we overlook may be the ones most honoured by Allah, and that true success is often hidden behind sincerity rather than visibility.Join us for this reflective session as we uncover timeless wisdom from the Qur’an and rediscover what truly matters.📅 Sunday, 15 March🕚 11:00am (GMT+8)🎙 Treasures from the Qur’an – Live Reflection SeriesCome with an open heart — you may walk away seeing success, status, and significance very differently.🎙️ New to streaming or looking to level up? Unlocking the Best Night of Ramadan: Inspirations from Surah Al-Qadr | Syahmi | 103

In the rush of deadlines, meetings, and ambitions, Ramadan can easily become just another month in the calendar. We fast during the day, attend a few prayers at night, and promise ourselves we will do better next year. But Surah al-Qadr reminds us that Ramadan is not merely about fasting, it is about a night that can outweigh a lifetime.Allah ta'ala says:“The Night of Decree is better than a thousand months.” — [Qur’an 97:3]A thousand months is more than 83 years, that is longer than the average human lifespan. One night, if embraced with faith and sincerity, can carry the weight of an entire lifetime of worship. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Whoever stands in prayer on the Night of Decree out of faith and hoping for reward, his past sins will be forgiven.”— [al-Bukhari and Muslim]Ramadan is, therefore, not about how busy we are. It is about whether we recognize the value of time when Allah Himself multiplies it.Many of us invest years in building careers, businesses, and reputations. Yet Surah al-Qadr teaches that Allah can place the reward of decades into ONE single night for the one who turns back to Him.Perhaps one of the questions Ramadan asks us is:If Allah placed the reward of a lifetime in one night, will we be among those who rise to seek it?Join us for our next Treasures from Qur'an live session this coming Saturday, 7th March at 11:00am (GMT+8) as Syahmi dives deep into the heart of this short but powerful surah!🎙️ New to streaming or looking to level up? When the Universe Prostrates: Inspirations @ Surah As-Sajdah | Syahmi | 100

When the Universe Prostrates... ....But You Don’t.Everything in existence, the sun, the moon, the stars, the mountains, the trees, and creatures unseen bows down and prostrates to Allah in absolute submission. Yet, among mankind and jinn, there are those who refuse.Surah As-Sajdah is a wake-up call, a reminder of where we came from, the reality of our fleeting time on earth, and the inevitable meeting with Malakul Maut (the Angel of Death). Rasulullah ﷺ would recite this surah every Friday at Fajr, alongside Surah Al-Insan, to remind us of our fragile existence and what comes after. In this episode inshaAllah, we reflect on:The ultimate act of worship: Sujud, why lowering ourselves is actually our greatest honour. The submission of all creation except for some mankind who persist in arrogance. The reality of what's to come - the coming of Angel of Death, the situation of the disbelievers in front of Allah etc.Join us at TBE this Sunday 30th March 2025 at 11:00 (GMT +8), in our final episode of Treasures from Quran this year, as we share some inspirational reminders from this surah! Minimum Success Criteria: Inspirations @ Surah Al-Asr | Amir | 099

Surah Al-Asr is the third shortest surah in the Quran, containing only 3 verses and therefore making it a favourite for worshippers often times to recite it in their prayer when they are short for time. While it uses simple and direct words, it also has deep and comprehensive meanings, containing sharp and direct reminders for all mankind to adopt in avoiding the true catastrophic failure. In other words, Surah Al-Asr defines the criteria to earn minimum success. So much so, that our great Imam Shafi'ee once mentioned that if Allah had only revealed this Surah, it would be sufficient mankind! The short powerful nature of this surah made it a regular practice for the sahabah (companions of Rasulullah ﷺ) to recite it whenever they depart from a gathering. Ibn Qayyim even includes all the criterias in this surah as the basis of our personal jihad (struggle) against our whims and desires. So, what are the minimum success criteria? How can we put them into practice and plant it as our life slogan? What was the wisdom that was so profound about these ayat that the sahabah would recite it so regularly? Join us for this conversation on another episode from Treasures from Quran, as we share some reminders from this powerful Surah. See you there, in sha Allah! Barakallahu fikum

The Greatest Verse: Ayatul Kursi 2:255 | Reeza | 098

Rasulullah ﷺ once asked the great companion Ubayy ibn Kaab رضي الله عنه : what is the greatest verse in the Qur'an? Ubayy immediately recited ayatul Kursi: " اللَّهُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الْحَيُّ الْقَيُّومُ" Out of over 6,000 verses in the Quran, Ubayy chose this ayah, verse number 255 from Surah Al Baqarah. Acknowledging his response, Rasulullah ﷺ replied, “by Allah, you are indeed favoured with knowledge ya Aba Mundhir!” (Muslim)It is no coincidence that we find this verse mentioned in countless statements of our Prophet ﷺ such that it becomes entrenched and often recited as part of our daily practice as Muslims striving to follow in the footsteps of Rasulullah ﷺ.✅ What makes this verse so profound such that Rasulullah ﷺ acknowledged it as the greatest verse of the Quran?✅ What key reflections, lessons and gems can we derive from this single verse that may enrich our understanding behind our daily practice of this verse?✅ Practical lessons: What are some daily activities which we are encouraged to recite this verse?
