Workplace Worship for Lent #1

This is the beginning of a series designed to assist you in observing lent in your workplace. Each episode has a scripture, a comment, a prayer and a song suggestion. There will be 5 each week through Easter. You are encouraged to find scripture, meditate and pray on your own the other 2 days of each week. God bless.

God's Word Carries Faith and Produces Salvation (part 2)

God's Provisions, HIs Salvation, His Life-giving Love, HIs Provision for a healthy soul are powerful, effective and guaranteed BUT we need to respond. Faith & Obedience are the prescribed responses. Just like when the doctor writes a prescription for us, we need to pick it up, take it, use it for it to become ours. In this podcast Peter, Paul and Jesus give us words of instruction and encouragement in exercising the gift of faith.

S.5 E.5 God's Word Carries Faith and Produces Salvation (part 1)

The Word of God is like a Seed that is planted into our lives and produces new life. God does not force His way into our lives so we need to respond and the primary response we are asked to give is to "Trust and Obey". Peter helps us understand what this looks like. I hope my words help you discover how you can respond to God in a way that brings new life to your day.

S.5 E.4 What does Faith look like?

Peter begins to take his readers on a journey of discovering how to live out the salvation God has gifted them with. Living salvation in daily life requires "FAITH" but what does it look like. The rest of this book gives us help and encouragement in answering that question. Today's episode talks about keeping our mind in the right place, staying focused on the right things, trusting God who is right, who does things right and makes things right.

S.5 E.3 Salvation

All of us need salvation. Most of us will admit it at least at times. Peter joins the Salvation chorus of scripture as he ministers to the exiles in Asia Minor and to us. God's Salvation is for us today, not just for our eternal destiny, but for our everyday lives.

S.5 E.2 Living Hope - Salvation in Daily Living

The Apostle Peter lived in times just as desperate as we do today. He ministered to people who were confused about their circumstances, struggling with doubts about God and trying to survive in a hostile world. Peter begins addressing these folks with a a reminder of God's mercy and of God's power.

S.5 E.1 Living in a Hostile World - Chosen of God

This podcast is on Peter's greeting to churches in Asia Minor (modern Turkey). The introduction immediately lets us know that Peter's audience are living in difficult circumstances. He quickly seeks to bring comfort and assurance to them. God is for them, His work is effective and abundant on their behalf. Today we also live in a difficult world, war, discord, confusion, abuse - a long list of difficulties. Following Christ does not mean the absence of trouble but it does mean we have help, a helper actually that dispenses redemptive grace that is more than enough for every difficulty.

Every one of us will be tempted to go astray is some way today. Jesus understands and he offers help. His help is amazing.

S. 2, Ep. 10 - How do we value our relationships with others?

It is easy to debate various aspects of Scriptural Revelation, brilliant minds have had major disagreements regarding the interpretation of scripture, and Biblical doctrine. But one thing is is difficult to debate is that God loves us and that he wants us to love "one another". That is pretty straight forward. If we do have questions about how to love, there are at least 35 direct commands given in scripture about how we are to treat "one another" well. Forgiveness is one of them, "forgive one another". Jesus makes forgiveness a part of this teaching on prayer, and it is the one part of the prayer that he actually included a footnote for emphasis. Hope you enjoy.

S.2, Ep. 9 - What are you eating today?

Jesus makes it clear that food for our physical body is secondary to feeding our spiritual lives on the Word of God. This episode has a few thoughts on how Jesus teaches us to walk in the tension of a physical body that demands to eat and a spiritual life that desperately needs God.

S.2, Ep.8 - Aligning ourselves with God's Will

God's will, sometimes is about when and where we should be doing things and there can be some mystery involved is knowing what His will is. More often than not His will is about living my life right here, right now in OEDIENCE to what I know I should be doing. When we pray, Jesus is teaching us that it is a time to bring ourselves into alignment and agreement with what God has revealed. If God has spoken it, we know without doubt it is heaven's way. Heaven's way and our way, heaven's way the world's way are almost always in conflict with each other, That makes this purposeful act of aligning ourselves with God, with heaven necessary all of the time.

S.2, Ep.7 - Inviting God to be CENTER and not Peripheral

When Jesus teaches us to pray, I believe he gives us a way of taking the conversation from the closet to the stuff of everyday life. Conversing with God is a privilege we can engage in, in the car, on a phone call, in the middle of an argument or disagreement. It centers us in "the One" who has the wisdom, the strength and ability to help us whatever the circumstance. Today's episode offers a simple way of coming to God and embracing his kingdom in any aspect of our lives. There are many ways to do this and if we truly want the Kingdom of God to come into our daily lives, we will find one that works for us.

Ponderings - Staying Upright

We all have a perspective on everything. The interesting thing is that our perspectives like fingerprints can have similarities, but each is unique. Our perspectives on God and Scripture are very unique to the point that they can have very few similarities. I try to base my perspectives on God as he is revealed in the Bible, but I will acknowledge, that they have been influenced by many people, a myriad of external sources and by my own disposition all of which are skewed by sin. This episode talks about this dynamic reality in my life, and it addresses that fact that while I do have perspective/s, understanding/s I cannot lean on them because they are partial and shaped by alot of imperfect stuff. So what do I lean on? How do I stay upright?

S.2, Ep. 5 - Using the Right Pronoun.

When we prayer it is easy and common to make ourselves the main thing. Jesus reminds us in the Matthew 6 that "GOD" is indeed the main thing and He is the Main thing for our good.
