    Harmeet Dhillon to SCOTUS: Hands Off Our AR Rifles!

The great and powerful Harmeet Dhillon, Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Rights Division of the Department of Justice, has just filed a brief with the US Supreme Court in defense of American’s Second Amendment right to keep and bear AR-style rifles—the so-called “assault weapons” that a handful of states and every Progressive politicians wants to wrest from our grasp. The case is question is Viramontes v. Cook County, involves an Illinois “assault weapons” ban, and is a Second Amendment challenge to various state and local “assault weapons” bans. This case has been advanced by the Second Amendment Foundation and my friend Attorney Kostas Moros, once again doing stellar work in defense of American’s civil rights. SCOTUS has combined this case with another AWB case, Grant v. Higgins, which involves a similar “assault weapons” ban out of Connecticut, and the legal question on such bans will likely be settled for the entire country in the Court’s ultimate ruling. Specifically, the legal question presented before SCOTUS is whether the Second and Fourteenth Amendments protect an individual’s right to possess AR-15-platform and similar semiautomatic rifles. The case tests how Heller and Bruen apply to commonly owned semiautomatic rifles that governments have labeled “assault weapons.” Oral argument is scheduled for December 2 of this year, and the past week has seen dozens of excellent Amici briefs submitted in support of the Second Amendment and in opposition to the bans. Prominent among these amicus briefs is that submitted this week by AAG Harmeet Dhillon, and that’s the one I’ve selected to highlight today. Join me LIVE at Noon ET!     Judge Demands Explanation from Hold-Out Juror!

Judge William Sullivan has scheduled an open-court hearing for 9 AM ET in which he is demanding that the one hold-out juror in the Lindsay Clancy murder trial appear before him and explain their apparent intransigence. Lindsay Clancy is the Massachusetts woman who strangled her three children—five years old, three years old, and 8 months old—to death after sending their father out of the house on errands. Clancy then dropped herself out of a second-story window in a purported attempt to kill herself, but survived the fall with a broken spine and paralysis below the waist. Clancy is charged with first-degree murder, which carries a mandatory life sentence without possibility of early release. Her defense is not guilty by reason of insanity, based on a claim of having committed these killings while under psychosis or as a result of irresistible impulse, a condition driven by her own existing mental illness and a cornucopia of psychiatric drugs she had been prescribed. Clancy’s defense counsel, Kevin Reddington, has already demanded that the intransigent juror be replaced by one of the six alternate jurors still being held available, which Judge Sullivan declined to do yesterday afternoon, instead scheduling today’s 9 AM ET open-court examination of that juror.     Murder Mom Hung Jury: What Prosecution SHOULD Have Said!

Today the jury in the murder trial of Lindsay Clancy informed the judge that they were unable to arrive at a unanimous verdict, now in their fourth day of deliberations, and after five full weeks of trial.     Judge Rules Assassin of Charlie Kirk to FACE DEATH!

    FINALLY! Supreme Court Takes on AR-15 Bans!

After deftly, and infuriatingly, side-stepping the legal question of whether so-called assault weapons bans—typically tight bans on AR-15 style rifles, the most commonly owned class of rifles in America—run afoul of the Second Amendment, the US Supreme Court is taking on that precise issue in the case of Viramontes v. Illinois. The Second Amendment Foundation (SAF) has filed its opening brief arguing that the assault weapons bans established by both Illinois and Connecticut—and, by extension, really every assault weapons ban in the country—unconstitutionally infringe the right of the People to keep and bear arms.     Will SCOTUS Order Judges Hands-Off Trump’s Balls?

President Trump’s new White House ballroom—and the Trump balls that would be held there—are once again threatened by the inane and TDS-driven objections of feckless, unelected, black-robed, tyrannical, federal judges, and the matter has finally, if ridiculously, reached the level of the Supreme Court itself. Famously liberal federal district trial court Judge Richard Leon froze continued construction of the already-started ballroom on the most ridiculous and spurious grounds—because a local DC woman found the uncompleted ballroom would be offensive to her aesthetic sensibilities. The DC Circuit Court of Appeals then affirmed that order freezing construction on a 2-1, with a scathing dissent by Judge Neomi Rao, a Trump appointee from his first term. (The two judges in the majority were Patricia Millet and Bradley Garcia, appointed by Obama and Biden, respectively.) They did, however, stay their own order until August 21, to give the White House time to appeal their decision to SCOTUS. The White House did immediately appeal to the US Supreme Court, specifically to Chief Justice John Roberts who handles such appeals in the DC Circuit, and he has ordered a response from the ball-haters by August 18, this coming Tuesday.     Two weeks ago a federal judge in Texas ruled that the NFA's registration and application requirements for suppressors and some other normally tightly-controlled gun-related items — because Congress zeroed out the transfer and taxes that used to justify them under the taxing power. No tax, no revenue, no constitutional basis. That's a massive win for gun owners tired of fingerprints, photos, and months-long waits just to make or transfer these firearms. Yesterday the deadline for the Trump administration to file for a stay of that order expired, and today some very brave Second Amendment champions began transferring suppressors free of the ATF registration requirements for the first time in 94 YEARS! But don't pop the champagne for everyone just yet. This is a district court decision, not a nationwide rule — the injunction only protects the named plaintiffs, their members, and their customers, machineguns and destructive devices aren't touched, and the order is stayed seven days for an expected appeal.     War on Cops Continues: CO Officer Neely Indictment!

    Colorado police officer Sergeant Matthew Neely, who happens to be white, found himself in August 2025 standing alone facing down a non-compliant, intoxicated, high-speed flight, car-crashing, black Rajon Belt-Stubblefield, who is actively attacking that officer while urging his nearby son to retrieve his dropped pistol. Ultimately Neely is compelled to shoot him Belt-Stubblefield, fatally, in patent self-defense, with the confrontation and shooting captured on video from various angles, including BWC, surveillance cameras, and cell phone video. Now, ridiculously, nearly a full year later, Officer Neely finds himself indicted on charges of murder and manslaughter for that shooting.     Illegals MUST Be Set Free If They Delay OWN Deportation?

    The Supreme Court is being presented with yet another momentous illegal migrants decision to make—is an illegal who can manage to drag out the deportation process long enough entitled by law to a bond hearing that will inevitably release him to disappear once again into the American interior, or is the government allowed to detain that illegal migrant for the duration of the deportation process regardless of how long the illegal delays that process? Key to all this: The detainee subject to deportation is entitled by law at any time to raise his hand and be released—he just must choose some place other than the United States has his place of release. He is only detained so long as he is demanding the right to remain in the US. Currently there is a circuit split on this question, with some federal circuits siding with the Trump administration argument that ongoing detention is lawful under both statute and Constitutional due process law—and that, in any case, Congress has stripped the Article III courts of the jurisdiction to hear these deportation cases--and other federal circuits claiming that not only must the government offer a bond hearing, but that there must be an overwhelming burden of proof on the government to deny bond and release, such that it is inevitable that illegals detained will be set free into the American interior.
