Not Everyone Can Go Where You're Going

Join Me To Build Your Best Fall – https://buildyourbestfall.com/ You did the thing. You hit the goal I’d been chasing for months, maybe years. And the text back was a thumbs up and one exclamation point, and something in you sank. A very specific loneliness can come with growing into your calling, and almost no one names it. You’ve felt it more than once. When you work so hard to become stronger and braver, it can hurt when the people you love don’t always know how to celebrate it. In this episode, I talk about why loneliness happens, why it’s more normal than you think, and how to widen your circle so you stop carrying your wins alone. By the end, you’ll know how to receive your wins with more ease, less loneliness, and a little more celebration. What You'll Learn in This Episode: Why love and understanding are two different things, and why the closest relationships are the ones that sting when someone can't picture where you're going The "orange tree" reframe that will change how you handle one-sided friendships and flat responses for good How to tell the difference between people who can't celebrate you and people who won't, and why sorting that out isn't your assignment What actually changes when you find a table of women who get it before you finish the sentence How to become the woman who celebrates other women out loud, on purpose Timestamps: (00:00) — The text that deflated you: when a big win gets a thumbs up (00:53) — What happens to nearly every woman as she grows (01:31) — "Not everyone can go where you're going, and no one's asking them to" (02:56) — Love and understanding are two different things (04:12) — The loneliness ambitious women aren't talking about (04:31) — The women who can't celebrate you vs. the ones who won't (05:31) — You don't owe anyone a smaller version of your joy (05:31) — The orange tree: asking for apples from a tree that grows oranges (06:45) — The caution: this isn't permission to leave the people you're bound to (07:23) — Widening your circle (and the day Alli stopped expecting her husband to get it) (08:41) — Rachel's story: the coat she didn't know she was wearing indoors (09:40) — Why Alli built the Catalyst Mastermind (10:19) — Become the woman who celebrates other women out loud (11:00) — An invitation to Catalyst (11:58) — The random thing Alli loves this month (13:00) — The flat response was never a verdict on your dream Links to great things we discussed: Alli’s Product Recommendations: 365 by Whole Foods Market Facial Moisturizer & Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Mineral Sunscreen Stick Catalyst Mastermind Function Health - Use code AWORTHINGTON10 for a discount on comprehensive lab testing Wise Woman Method on Substack Take the Secret Superpower Quiz Join the Uplift Community Follow Alli on Instagram Don’t forget to watch Alli Worthington on YouTube! Top Neuroscientist : How to Reset Your Energy, Focus & Mood in 20 Minutes a Day with TJ Power

Join Me To Build Your Best Fall – https://buildyourbestfall.com/ You wake up, and your hand goes straight to your phone before your feet even touch the floor. By ten in the morning, you’re wired and foggy at the same time, reaching for sugar, caffeine, and one more scroll I already know will make me feel worse. That pattern has a real reason behind it, and it comes down to four brain chemicals that shape how we feel every day: dopamine, oxytocin, serotonin, and endorphins. Neuroscientist TJ Power calls this system DOSE, and understanding how these four work together helps explain why your midlife energy, your focus, and that low hum of anxiety you've carried for years start to make sense in a whole new way. I have been trying to get TJ Power on the show for eight months. This is my favorite episode in eight years of recording. What You'll Learn in This Episode: Why dopamine gets all the attention while oxytocin, serotonin, and endorphins quietly run your mood and your capacity The one morning habit that sets what your brain craves for the rest of the day Why boredom is one of the most restorative things you can give your brain, and what your default mode network does with those quiet minutes How decision fatigue actually builds in your brain, and how fast it clears Why motivation shows up after you move, not before The simple body check question TJ asks every morning before he touches his phone What rest has to do with performance, and why athletes figured this out first Timestamps: (02:09) — What DOSE stands for and why all four chemicals matter (03:50) — Oxytocin, serotonin, and endorphins in plain English (06:14) — How dopamine actually builds, and the 15 minute rule for reading (07:31) — Golden retriever puppies and what they do to your nervous system (08:36) — TJ's 36 hours without a phone and what he and his wife did instead (10:40) — Where he keeps his phone all day (it isn't near him) (12:35) — The 9-to-9 detox: one woman's Saturday without a phone (15:51) — What 50 of Alli's clients named as their biggest time waster (16:49) — Instagram Reels, Coca-Cola, and how much we're really scrolling (17:43) — Your default mode network: the wise guide you stopped listening to (19:24) — Decision fatigue, glutamate, and the ache behind your forehead (23:02) — Alli's hour-long walk and the 15 minutes that are always rough (24:08) — The 60-minute headphone-free walk that changes lives (25:16) — Motivation is an outcome of behavior, not a prerequisite (26:47) — Endorphins, hills, saunas, and roller coasters (32:38) — Serotonin lives in your body, and 90% of the vagus nerve runs upward (35:20) — Why scrolling Reels in the afternoon is chemically similar to a glass of wine (36:32) — "Hey body, what would you like right now?" The morning practice (38:48) — Chasing what feels good instead of escaping what feels bad (41:12) — Do I deserve to rest? What elite athletes understand, and Alli on Sabbath (43:11) — ADHD, dopamine, and what phones are really doing (49:07) — "Dopamine diabetes": the new diagnosis TJ thinks we need (50:42) — If you only have 20 minutes a day, spend them like this (52:36) — Whatever your first dopamine hit is, that's what your brain craves all day (55:29) — The phone-free first hour and how to build a life around it Links to great things we discussed: The Dose Effect Function Health Uplift App Join me on Substack: Wise Woman Method Alli on YouTube I hope you loved this episode! 🎉Don’t forget to hit that subscribe button on Apple Podcasts and Spotify so you never miss a thing. The Work You're Building is Building You

Join Me To Build Your Best Fall – https://buildyourbestfall.com/ Two women came to me in the same week. One had just made a partner. The other finally launched the business she’d been afraid to start for years. Their lives couldn’t have looked more different, but they were circling the same question: Who am I becoming while I’m building all of this? If you’re in a hard season and building something, this episode gives you a different way to see it. Finding your calling was never only about the work. The work has been building you all along. And the woman you’re becoming is the most valuable thing you’ll ever build. What You'll Learn in This Episode: Why your work acts like a mirror, surfacing the fear, perfectionism, and people-pleasing you thought you'd handled years ago How building confidence happens underneath the visible skill, one hard conversation at a time Why the right questions move you faster than more information ever will (and why you can't see your own story clearly alone) The cast iron skillet principle: how the hot, hard seasons are the ones God uses for His deepest work in you The one question to pray into next: "Who does my work need me to become?" Why what you're building needs a stronger woman to run it more than it needs a better plan Alli's current favorite supplement for falling asleep faster and waking up with less morning fog Timestamps: 3:02 – The work you're building is building you 4:20 – Your work is a mirror (and what it reveals is a gift) 5:22 – Entrepreneurship as a personal development plan in disguise 5:45 – What you're really building underneath: courage 6:25 – Why better questions beat more information 8:30 – The cast iron skillet: how you get seasoned 9:08 – The growth that never lands on a scoreboard 10:22 – The question to pray into: who does my work need me to become next? 11:14 – Why your work needs a stronger woman, not a better plan 12:15 – What "work that matters" actually means 14:53 – Catalyst Mastermind: building alongside other women Links to great things we discussed: Standing Strong Glycine Oura ring Catalyst Mastermind Function Health - Use code AWORTHINGTON10 for a discount on comprehensive lab testing Wise Woman Method on Substack Take the Secret Superpower Quiz Join the Uplift Community Follow Alli on Instagram Don’t forget to watch Alli Worthington on YouTube! Join Me To Build Your Best Fall – https://buildyourbestfall.com/ You love your home. You chose things that matter to you, yet it can still leave your shoulders tight by day’s end. Myquillyn Smith, known to many as The Nester, offers house hushing, a gentler way to help your home feel calmer. She calls it house hushing. House hushing can clear your countertops and leave your home feeling more peaceful. What You'll Learn in This Episode: What "house hushing" actually means, and why quieting visual noise matters more than owning less The backwards decluttering method that lets the process earn your trust instead of the other way around The exact two-room, 48-hour reset Myquillyn uses (and how to bring back only what you truly need) The two things that make any room feel louder or quieter: contrast and scale The three changes that make even a big, echoey room feel cozy Why the goal was never a prettier house, but a home you finally relax in and use Timestamps: (00:00) — What house hushing is: decluttering for women who love beauty (01:52) — Cozy minimalism, and why "get rid of it all" scares beauty-lovers (05:13) — Backwards decluttering: the room-by-room reset (06:37) — How to do it: pick two rooms and live with less for 48 hours (08:37) — Bringing back only what's needed, and why decisions get easier (09:47) — Alli hushes her kitchen: what she found and how it felt (12:05) — Closed storage, moving furniture, and the power of small changes (14:51) — Letting your functional, beautiful things be the decor (18:33) — The two things that change a room's volume: contrast and scale (21:06) — Three things that make any big room cozy: rug, drapes, lamps (22:10) — Lighting, lamps, and the case against overhead lights (25:04) — Spicy takes: clocks, fake plants, tiny decor, and ceiling fans (29:58) — Decorating trends worth ignoring, and the "order of decor" (32:25) — Fun favorites: shows, a book, and the perfect puzzle Links to great things we discussed: The Other Bennett Sister Gallison 500-piece puzzles House Hushing Function Health Uplift App Join me on Substack: Wise Woman Method Join Me To Build Your Best Fall – https://buildyourbestfall.com/ Alli on YouTube I hope you loved this episode! 🎉Don’t forget to hit that subscribe button on Apple Podcasts and Spotify so you never miss a thing. The Decisions That Build Wealth

Join Me To Build Your Best Fall – https://buildyourbestfall.com/ Most of us were raised to be careful with money. Save it, stretch it, wait for the sale. Those habits matter, but nobody ever taught me the other half: how to make money grow while I sleep. In Part 2 of my money mindset series, I’m closing that gap with the four decisions wealthy women make with every dollar, and the one question that quietly changes how you spend. Not “can I afford this?” but “what kind of future does this build?” Because every dollar you spend is either building your future or buying you a nice moment. And wealthy women learn how to tell the difference. What You'll Learn in This Episode: The one question to ask before any purchase that instantly reveals whether you're building wealth or renting a moment Why buying back your time is the first decision wealthy women make (and the brutal math on "you can always make more money, but you'll never make more Wednesdays") How paying for speed, through coaching and masterminds, can collapse years of expensive mistakes into one honest conversation Why protecting your energy and health early is a wealth decision, not a luxury The patience play: how buying assets before upgrades quietly builds real wealth while the world thinks you're behind What wealthy women refuse to buy, including the guilt that follows women every time they spend on themselves Why a woman of faith builds wealth in the first place: freedom to be outrageously generous when God nudges Timestamps: (01:19) — The money skill nobody taught us: holding money vs. building it (02:05) — The question hiding inside every purchase: what future does this build? (02:23) — Decision 1: Buy back your best hours (and the "Wednesdays" math) (04:12) — Decision 2: Pay for speed, coaches, masterminds, and the fear underneath (06:21) — Decision 3: Protect your energy first, while you still feel good (07:41) — Decision 4: Buy assets before upgrades (08:51) — What wealthy women refuse to buy: approval and guilt (09:37) — Your one decision this week (10:31) — Why women of faith build wealth: freedom and generosity (12:12) — On the Wise Woman Method, plus this week's recommendation (13:39) — Redefining wealth: freedom and provision from the Lord Links to great things we discussed: The 7 Habits of Financially Healthy Women TV Recommendation - Widow’s Bay Function Health - Use code AWORTHINGTON10 for a discount on comprehensive lab testing Wise Woman Method on Substack Join Me To Build Your Best Fall – https://buildyourbestfall.com/ Take the Secret Superpower Quiz Join the Uplift Community Follow me on Instagram Don’t forget to watch me on YouTube! Why Life Keeps Getting Better After 40 with Dr. Ellen Langer

Join Me for the 90 Day Reset – https://buildyourbestfall.com/ You’re eating clean, sleeping more, doing everything you’re supposed to do for your health, and your body still isn’t getting the message. In part 2 of this conversation, Harvard psychologist Dr. Ellen Langer explains why “chronic” doesn’t mean permanent and shares a simple, science-backed mindfulness practice that has helped people with MS, stroke, Parkinson’s, and chronic pain see real improvement. This episode picks up right where part 1 left off, so start there if you haven’t listened yet. Dr. Langer breaks down what it means to learn something mindfully instead of absolutely, why judging yourself and everyone around you keeps you stuck, and why the years running together aren’t always a bad thing. She also gets personal about turning 40, what she’s doing to stay sharp, and why she believes life gets better as you get older. What You'll Learn in This Episode: Why learning a rule "absolutely" instead of "conditionally" traps you in beliefs that don't fit your life The two-question mindfulness practice shown to reduce chronic pain, MS, stroke, and Parkinson's symptoms Why every negative judgment you make about yourself has an equally true, more generous version How to use AI as a tool without losing your own agency (and the surprising 45-year-old research behind it) Why Dr. Langer believes the goal isn't more years in your life, but more life in your years Timestamps: (00:00) – Welcome back for part 2 with Dr. Ellen Langer (00:26) – Why investing in your mindset matters beyond just you (00:44) – Learning mindfully vs. mindlessly, and why the rule-writer's perspective matters (01:37) – The tennis racket story: why "the way you do it" isn't the only way (03:01) – The bell that should go off every time you're judgmental (03:47) – Why every judgment has an equally strong, opposite version (05:41) – Why the years blurring together isn't only a sign of aging (06:00) – Stop counting years, start adding life to them (08:00) – "Sticks and stones" had it backwards (09:33) – The label "chronic" and what it really means (10:05) – The two-question exercise that reduced chronic symptoms in real studies (11:59) – How to try the exercise yourself, step by step (13:38) – AI as a tool: the brilliant graduate student metaphor (14:03) – The 45-year-old research on self-induced dependence (17:28) – What Ellen wishes women understood about getting older (20:07) – What Ellen does to stay sharp and creative Links to great things we discussed: The Mindful Body Function Health Uplift App Join me on Substack: Wise Woman Method Alli on YouTube Join me for the 90 Day Reset – Build Your Best Fall I hope you loved this episode! 🎉 Don't forget to hit that subscribe button on Apple Podcasts and Spotify so you’re always in the loop. The Money Mindset That Builds Wealth

Join Me on Substack – https://wisewomanmethod You’ve stood at the kitchen counter with your phone in your hand, looking at the price of the one thing that would actually move your business forward, and talked yourself into waiting until next year. I’ve stood there too. After all these years of coaching women who went on to build real wealth, the thing that surprised me was never the size of their accounts. It was how much they all thought the same way, like someone handed them a tiny list of money rules and forgot to give everyone else a copy. In Part 1 of this two-part series on money mindset and building wealth, I walk you through all seven of those rules, and most of them don’t cost a thing. What You'll Learn in This Episode: Why building wealth starts with identity, not income, and how "builders" think differently before the evidence ever agrees with them The difference between money defense (saving, budgeting) and money offense (negotiating, investing, owning the asset), and why you were only taught half the game The better questions to ask when you're weighing a cost, so you're doing the math on a longer clock than fear knows how to read Why the women who build wealth think in decades, plant "pecan trees," and don't quit in the anxious short term How to buy freedom before comfort, and why the right afternoon back is worth more than the fancier version of what you already own Why the women you sit with become the women you become, and how to find rooms that stretch you toward your calling The one question to carry into your next "affordability moment" this week Timestamps: (00:00) — The woman whose "irresponsible" decision turns out to be genius (00:25) — The kitchen counter and the "maybe next year" moment (01:21) — What women who build real wealth all have in common (01:48) — The seven secret rules of money (02:08) — Rule 1: Wealth starts with identity, not income (03:34) — Rule 2: Learn offense, not just defense (05:08) — Rule 3: Ask better questions (06:16) — Rule 4: Think in decades (07:33) — Rule 5: Buy freedom before comfort (09:14) — Rule 6: Invest in rooms that stretch you (11:35) — Rule 7: Build a life, not just a bank account (12:28) — This week's practice: your "affordability moment" (13:52) — Book recommendation: The Psychology of Money (15:42) — Where your steadiness actually comes from Links to great things we discussed: Alli’s Book Recommendation - The Psychology of Money Function Health - Use code AWORTHINGTON10 for a discount on comprehensive lab testing Wise Woman Method on Substack Take the Secret Superpower Quiz Join the Uplift Community Follow Alli on Instagram Don’t forget to watch Alli Worthington on YouTube! How Your Mind Controls Your Body. Dr. Ellen Langer's Mindfulness Research

Join Me on Substack – https://wisewomanmethod You are doing everything right for your health, and you still don’t feel like yourself. Dr. Ellen Langer, the Harvard psychologist known as the mother of mindfulness, has spent fifty years showing that the mind and body are not two separate systems. They are one. And when you understand that, it changes everything about how much influence you actually have over your own well‑being. What You'll Learn in This Episode: Why "mind-body connection" is actually the wrong way to think about mindfulness and health, and what to believe instead How your expectations about your body (coffee keeping you up, catching a cold, feeling fatigued) can directly create the physical symptoms you're bracing for Why women especially get stuck waiting for certainty before starting a business, and how to make peace with uncertainty instead The simple daily practice of "noticing new things" that Dr. Langer's research links to longer life and more happiness Timestamps: (00:00) – Why Dr. Langer is called the mother of mindfulness (00:58) – What has surprised her most about her own work after 50 years (02:06) – The history of mind-body unity research, and why "mind-body connection" undersells it (05:06) – The two pancreas stories from her book, "The Mindful Body" (07:15) – The coffee experiment that shows how belief creates physical reality (09:36) – The "how much is one plus one" question and what it teaches about mindlessness (13:06) – Making peace with uncertainty as a business owner (16:03) – A nursing home story on why running risks is the essence of being alive (18:56) – Reframing failure: the glue that became the Post-it Note (22:50) – The Counterclockwise Study on reversing signs of aging (23:47) – The chambermaid study on mindset and exercise (25:04) – The wound-healing study on perceived time (27:24) – The "borderline effect" in medical diagnosis (29:06) – Why fatigue is largely a psychological construct Links to great things we discussed: The Mindful Body Function Health Uplift App Wise Woman Era Alli on YouTube I hope you loved this episode! 🎉Don’t forget to hit that subscribe button on Apple Podcasts and Spotify so you never miss a thing. Why Compound Growth Feels Like Standing Still

Join Me on Substack – https://wisewomanmethod.com You’re in the bathroom brushing your teeth, already three meetings ahead in your mind, when that familiar thought slips in: I should be further along by now. If that feeling has been circling you lately, this episode is for you. I break down why real growth is so easy to miss, why your brain is wired to overlook it, and what you can do this week to see the progress you’re actually making. What You'll Learn in This Episode: Why meaningful growth in your faith, your marriage, and your calling almost always happens on delayed returns you can't measure in real time The biological reason your brain logs scrolling as "productive" but misses your own quiet progress (the dopamine trap) What "the gradient problem" is and why it makes you blind to your own growth Why your capacity, not your results, is the real scoreboard for compound growth A simple, one-night writing exercise to finally see how far you've come Timestamps: (00:26) — The 3 a.m. brain: why "I should be further along" keeps showing up (01:00) — The real thesis: your scoreboard is broken (01:08) — The bamboo story: years underground, then 90 feet in weeks (03:08) — Why it's biological: dopamine, cheap hits, and why scrolling feels "productive" (04:00) — Meet Becky (the amygdala) and why she wants receipts (05:07) — The gradient problem: why slow change goes undetected (05:49) — The reframe: it's your capacity that's compounding, not your results (06:49) — A client story: same revenue, completely different woman (07:45) — Where faith comes in: trusting God with what you can't measure yet (08:24) — This week's homework: the "I can't believe you" letter (11:00) — Alli's recommendation: get your lab work done Links to great things we discussed: Alli’s TV Recommendation - Hacks Function Health - Use code AWORTHINGTON10 for a discount on comprehensive lab testing Wise Woman Method on Substack Take the Secret Superpower Quiz Join the Uplift Community Follow Alli on Instagram Don’t forget to watch Alli Worthington on YouTube! Your Brain at 40+ Is Your Competitive Advantage

Join Me on Substack – https://wisewomanmethod You’ve been told your best years end around forty, that younger automatically means smarter, faster, and better. The truth says otherwise, and so does my life. In this episode, I break down the real science behind midlife confidence and why your brain, your nervous system, and your pattern recognition are actually working for you. What You'll Learn in This Episode: The difference between fluid intelligence and crystallized intelligence, and why the second one is your real competitive advantage after 40 How confidence is built from evidence, not feelings, and why women over 40 are sitting on more of it than they realize Why your nervous system gets calmer and more capable with age, not less A simple practice for identifying the wisdom you've already earned so you can start trusting it Timestamps: (00:00) – The Whole Foods parking lot moment and the 27-year-old founder on Instagram (00:54) – The story we've been told about aging and why it's wrong (02:07) – Fluid intelligence vs. crystallized intelligence explained (03:39) – Confidence comes from evidence, not feelings (06:05) – Your nervous system's "Becky" (the amygdala) and why it calms down with age (07:27) – Perspective as a gift of experience and faith (07:58) – The business hero: what Walt Disney's story teaches about midlife ambition (08:28) – Why Alli takes clients to Disney for Catalyst Mastermind trips (11:00) – Your timeline: 20s as information gathering, 30s as testing, 40s+ as the payoff (11:47) – This week's homework: naming your own evidence of wisdom Links to great things we discussed: Alli’s TV Recommendation - Hacks Function Health - Use code AWORTHINGTON10 for a discount on comprehensive lab testing Wise Woman Method on Substack Take the Secret Superpower Quiz Join the Uplift Community Follow Alli on Instagram Don’t forget to watch Alli Worthington on YouTube! Join Me on Substack – https://wisewomanmethod If you missed Part 1, go back and listen first. This episode starts exactly where that conversation ended. Ashley Collins, my chief of staff and resident PhD I love to brag about, is back asking the questions you’ve been waiting for. What you’re going to hear today is rare: me talking about my actual calendar, my real coaching philosophy, my relationship with ambition, and my honest, hopeful take on a season of life the internet keeps trying to convince women is awful. Spoiler: midlife is not awful. Burnout isn’t caused by working too much. AI still doesn’t have the Holy Spirit. What You'll Learn in This Episode: Why burnout is really an input/output problem (and what the right inputs actually look like for high-capacity women) The difference between needing a new strategy vs. needing to get out of your own way, and how a good coach can tell which one you actually need Why I wasn't worried about AI replacing my coaching practice (and what I thinks AI genuinely can and can't do) The "crystallized intelligence" that midlife women have access to that younger women don't Why our lives quietly shrink in midlife, and the one thing I would tell every woman to fight against What I think about ambition as a Christian woman (and why ambition and obedience aren't in conflict) The simplest nervous-system reset that costs nothing and works every time Timestamps: (01:01) — What gets better in midlife and the "crystallized intelligence" you earn with age (04:25) — The #1 mistake midlife women make: letting their world get smaller (05:03) — Why novelty is not optional in midlife and how to actively expand your territory (05:41) — Ambition and faith: why ambitious women are not a problem and what we've gotten wrong about ambition for too long (09:22) — I break down her weekly calendar: coaching days vs. creative days and why she protects each differently (10:33) — Why I do all her client coaching via phone (not video) and what it reveals about focused attention (11:56) — Coaching day energy: where it comes from, what it feels like, and why this gift "ends with me" (14:04) — Strategy vs. self-work: how to tell which one you actually need (and why we always want the strategy) (16:49) — My honest take on AI: what it's good for, where it fails, and why it lacks taste, wisdom, and the Holy Spirit (21:35) — How to start using AI if you're nervous about it (her actual on-ramp recommendation) (22:31) — The Claude project she uses for her husband's health (and why this might be AI's best use case) (24:02) — "Information is free. The Difference Between a Pivot and a Panic

Join Me on Substack – https://wisewomanmethod.com It’s 9:47 at night. There’s dark chocolate on the couch. You’ve got seven tabs open, including one about remote jobs in Maine and another about careers where no one can Slack you. You’ve decided you’re going to become a florist, open a coffee shop in Vermont, or move somewhere so small it doesn’t even have a zip code. Sound familiar? Here’s what’s actually going on: this isn’t clarity. It’s overload. And overload can feel almost exactly like revelation when you’re trapped inside it. In this episode of Smart Girl Summer, I’m talking about something I see all the time in the women I coach. The confusion between a panic and a pivot. Because the same overwhelmed nervous system that makes you want to quit your job and start a flower farm can dress itself up as discernment. And getting those two things mixed up has real consequences. God does not move at the speed of your cortisol spike. He never has. But your survival brain does, and it will hand you a plane ticket to Burlington long before it ever asks whether that’s actually wise. This episode will help you slow that down and tell the panic from the pivot. What You'll Learn in This Episode: Why the fantasy of escaping to Vermont (or Tampa, or a tiny bookshop) is actually information about what your real life is missing The key difference between panic and a pivot, and the specific physical and emotional signals that tell them apart Why "relief and wisdom sound identical for about 48 hours" and what happens after that The three-night rule: the one tool I give coaching clients before any major life decision How to translate an escape fantasy into a small, concrete craving your actual life can meet this week Why the healthiest pivots are almost always microscopic and how tiny changes prevent dramatic collapse Timestamps: (01:57) — When ordinary life starts feeling wrong, not just hard (02:56) — What's happening in your nervous system when you want to escape (03:38) — The spiritual piece: God doesn't move at the speed of a cortisol spike (04:00) — How to recognize panic: the physical and emotional signals (04:49) — What a pivot actually feels like (and why it survives a calm Saturday) (05:33) — The women I coach: functioning beautifully while running on fumes (07:06) — The fear underneath it all: "I'm afraid overload is making my decisions for me" (07:51) — Why discernment gets harder when your nervous system never feels safe (08:41) — Why the healthiest pivots are microscopic, not dramatic (09:18) — The three-night rule explained (10:22) — What to do when the escape fantasy comes back (and it will) (11:07) — The key question: "What is the smallest version of giving myself this?" Alli in the Hot Seat: The Stuff I Only Say Behind the Scenes

Join me on Substack – https://wisewomanmethod.com Something different is happening this week on Smart Girl Summer. I’m in the chair. Ashley Collins, my chief of staff and a whole PhD holder (yes, I tease her about it constantly), has been quietly collecting the things I say when the mic is off: the coaching wisdom that never makes it to air, the personal stories I usually only share with clients, and the honest parts of building something for 20 years without a map. This episode is Ashley finally making me say those things out loud. This is part 1 of 2. We talk about 20 years of coaching women, what obedience actually costs, the one thing that keeps women from ever taking the leap, and how the Catalyst Mastermind came to be. What You'll Learn in This Episode: Why do the same mindset obstacles that hold back first-time entrepreneurs also show up in surgeons and Fortune 100 leaders, and what Alli's job actually is in the room The biggest misconception people have about successful women, and why the "golden path" idea is keeping you stuck What happened when God told Alli to shut down her conference in 2012, and what she would have missed if she'd said no The beach walk story she's never told before, and why there's a jar of sand dollars sitting in her office The hidden thing that holds back the women who never quite take the step (it's not fear of failure) How the Catalyst Mastermind started from a Disney trip and became something Alli calls magical Why Catalyst isn't just for entrepreneurs and who it's actually for Timestamps: (01:22) — What Alli does all day (and why the answer depends entirely on who's asking) (02:16) — 20 years of coaching: what she knows now that she didn't know then (03:24) — The core issues every woman shares, from first-time author to hospital CEO (04:43) — The biggest misconception about successful people (06:21) — The decision that changed everything: shutting down the conference in 2012 (06:48) — Becoming the breadwinner and what came next (Propel Women, new vision) (10:01) — The beach walk, the sand dollars, and the fear nobody knew about (11:24) — What her therapist said that shifted everything about trusting God with money (15:25) — The hidden problem women are afraid to say out loud (17:13) — The one thing holding back women who never take the step (17:51) — Where Catalyst came from: the retreat origin story (22:26) — What the Catalyst circles look like, and why women refuse to let them break up (24:00) — What Ashley saw at the April retreat (and why women's shoulders look different when they leave) (25:56) — Who Catalyst is actually for (hint: not just entrepreneurs) Links to great things we discussed: Catalyst Mastermind Function Health Uplift App Substack - Wise Woman Era Alli on YouTube I hope you loved this episode! 🎉Don’t forget to hit that subscribe button on Apple Podcasts and Spotify so you never miss a thing. The Self-Edit: Why You Downplay What You Do

Join me on Substack – https://wisewomanmethod.com You’re at your kid’s school event, paper plate in hand, fluorescent lights buzzing loudly overhead. Someone asks what you do. You managed a whole department that morning. You built something real. And somehow the words that come out of your mouth are, “Oh, I just have this little side project I’m figuring out.” That’s the self‑edit. You’ve done it before. You know it well. You just can’t seem to stop. In this episode, I’m naming a pattern most women never get language for. It’s the reflex we have to shrink our work, soften our accomplishments, and add qualifiers until the thing we built sounds like something we barely touch on weekends. It isn’t a confidence problem. It’s wiring. And it can be changed only if you start noticing it and stop doing it. What You'll Learn in This Episode: What the self-edit is and why your brain does it automatically, even when you know better The specific way women raised in faith communities learn to confuse smallness with holiness (and what biblical humility actually looks like) Why the story you tell about yourself out loud becomes the story your brain files as true How to say what you do in one clear sentence and let it land without the qualifier that comes out of nowhere to soften it The real cost of self-editing over time: how it quietly reshapes your identity until the small version feels like the accurate one Timestamps: (01:40) — What the self-edit is and why smart women do it constantly (03:00) — Why your brain learned to flag visibility as a social threat (04:54) — What biblical humility actually is (Deborah led a nation) (05:27) — The woman three steps behind you is watching how you carry your calling (06:32) — Why your nervous system starts believing the edited version if you're not careful (08:32) — What actually changed for Rachel (hint: not her resume or her revenue) (09:03) — How identity works: you become what you practice (10:03) — The one practical thing to do the next time someone asks what you do (12:29) — Closing: You can stop self-editing now. What Still Works Online in 2026: Laura Tremaine on Podcasting, Substack & Social Media

Join me on Substack – https://wisewomanmethod.com If you’ve been building something online long enough to remember when a book deal and a blog following felt like the same thing, listen in for a long exhale. Writer, podcaster, and longtime reader‑advocate Laura Tremaine joins Alli for a conversation that blends honest business reflection with a genuine pep talk about what still matters. Laura has been at this for years. She co-hosted the wildly popular Sorta Awesome podcast, launched Smartest Person in the Room and 10 Things to Tell You, and wrote two books shaped directly by her podcast community. She’s someone who has lived through all waves of online content, from early blogging to the podcast boom to the celebrity-podcast takeover, and she has real insight on it all. This is a Smart Girl Summer conversation. Listen as two women who have been in the arena for more than fifteen years talk about what they’ve learned, what surprised them, and what they’re betting on next. What You'll Learn in This Episode: Why Laura closed 10 Things to Tell You after years of success, and what it felt like to make that call How Spotify's audiobook addition quietly reshaped podcast listenership (especially for readers) What Substack is doing for long-form writing that blogging used to do, and why publishers are now paying attention to it The case for posting every day on Instagram, even when it feels like shouting into the void Why stories vs. the grid is actually a question about who you're creating for What both Alli and Laura see coming next, including a cultural reckoning with online life that may already be underway Timestamps: (03:36) - How Laura describes what she does in 2026: reader, writer, podcaster (04:51) - Is there a new book coming? How to Go From Planning to Taking Action

Join me on Substack – https://wisewomanmethod.com You made the decision this morning. Coffee still hot, intention alive. By 9:15, you had talked yourself right out of it. If that feels a little too familiar, stay with me for this episode. I’m introducing something I call the self‑negotiation loop. It’s the pattern where you already know exactly what to do, carry the decision for weeks or even months, and let every delay feel perfectly reasonable in the moment. The issue isn’t motivation. It isn’t discipline. It’s the way your brain is wired, and it’s costing you more than you think. This is a solo episode, so stay with me for the insight that helps you finally do the thing. What You'll Learn in This Episode: What the self-negotiation loop is and why every "maybe later" feels like wisdom instead of avoidance How procrastination quietly drains your self-trust over time (even when nothing specifically goes wrong) Why confidence isn't the fuel you need before you can act, and what actually builds it The story of "Sarah," who spent 5 months preparing for something that took 10 minutes to do Why God's pattern in Scripture is "walk, and I'll reveal the path," not "wait until you feel ready" The one small, honest step you can take today toward the decision you've been carrying Timestamps: (01:02) — Naming the self-negotiation loop and why every "maybe" feels so reasonable (01:44) — What the loop looks like on an average day (the blinking cursor that feels like a judgment) (02:21) — Why your brain will almost always choose familiar discomfort over unfamiliar growth (03:05) — Relief vs. peace: the difference that changes everything (03:36) — What Alli noticed in coaching: "That was so much easier than I thought it would be" (04:26) — How hesitation quietly erodes self-trust, one renegotiation at a time (06:00) — Evidence over confidence: the concept that actually builds a track record (06:46) — Sarah's story: 5 months of preparation, 10 minutes of doing (08:00) — The faith connection: Esther didn't get a guarantee either (08:36) — The one practical step to take today (10:08) — You are always practicing becoming someone, especially in the small moments Links to great things we discussed: Alli’s Show Recommendation - Paradise Function Health - Use code AWORTHINGTON10 for a discount on comprehensive lab testing Wise Woman Method on Substack Take the Secret Superpower Quiz Join the Uplift Community Follow Alli on Instagram Don’t forget to watch Alli Worthington on YouTube! How to Lead with Confidence and Build Trust at Work with Selena Rezvani

Join me on Substack – https://wisewomanmethod.com What does it look like to walk into a room as your full self, not the version who already decided she doesn’t belong there? Leadership coach and author Selena Rezvani has spent her career sitting with that exact question, and in this conversation, she brings the kind of stories and truth that land deep. Selena teaches leaders how to build trust and share power, and she does so with credibility that comes only from real life. She has bombed the interview. She has eaten the whole sleeve of Milano cookies. She has gone back anyway and written a completely different ending. That’s why her work sticks. It’s lived, not theoretical. This episode is for every woman who has ever over-prepared, under-showed, and wondered what might have happened if she had let herself take up the space she deserved. Listen in, and let it remind you that you belong in the room, too. What You'll Learn in This Episode: Why your energy, not your to-do list, should be shaping your workday How to advocate for yourself with the people above you without slipping into the tightrope women are so often forced to walk The GPS framework for getting a yes, even when the ask feels bold or a little risky What healthy entitlement actually means and why it matters when you’re negotiating for what you need Why one of the most surprising research findings about managers will change the way you think about leadership How to hold a no loosely and still go back two more times when it matters Timestamps: (01:48) - Selena's crooked career path from social work to executive coaching (04:39) - How Selena structures her workday around energy, not equal time blocks (07:28) - Raising twins, recovering from infertility, and what changes when you know what you fought for (10:00) - Things Selena used to obsess about at work that she's finally let go of (10:26) - How women can advocate for themselves without paying the "bluntness penalty" (11:20) - The GPS framework: tailoring your pitch to someone's goals, passions, and struggles (13:04) - Speaking peer to peer, not up to a pedestal, and the concept of healthy entitlement (14:36) - What surprised Selena most in her research for her latest book (15:15) - The study that found your manager's impact rivals your spouse's (16:13) - The missed opportunity story, the rosé, the Milano cookies, and what happened when Selena went back (19:35) - The most common misconception women have about vulnerability in leadership (22:38) - Selena's travel talisman, her skincare secret (it's tretinoin, naturally), and her Poshmark obsession Links to great things we discussed: Selena’s Website Selena’s Online Recommendation - Poshmark Function Health Uplift App Read Alli's Substack : Wise Woman Era Alli on YouTube I hope you loved this episode! 🎉Don’t forget to hit that subscribe button on Apple Podcasts and Spotify so you never miss a thing. When the Dream Costs More Than You Expected

Join me on Substack - https://wisewomanmethod.com You said yes to something good. Something you actually wanted. And now it’s 9 p.m., you’re standing in your kitchen eating shredded cheese out of the bag, and you’re wondering why the dream you prayed for feels like a low hum behind your eyes and a sudden irritation with every sound in your house. This is not a sign you’re broken. It’s just your body waving a little white flag called an allostatic load. Once you know what’s actually going on, it’s a lot less mysterious and a little less personal. Here’s me being honest: right now, I’m writing a book, wrangling a Substack, juggling a few businesses, and trying not to drop anything important on my own head. Turns out, when you’re carrying work that actually matters to you, it doesn’t feel like a motivational poster. It feels like slogging through mud, second-guessing every decision, and wondering if your brain has been replaced by a fog machine. Playing Small: Identity, Self-Worth & Midlife Freedom with Therapist Niro Feliciano

Join the Uplift Community App TODAY! If you’ve ever talked yourself out of something you really wanted, told yourself it wasn’t the right time, or felt guilty for even wanting it, this episode is going to feel like a long exhale. Therapist Niro Feliciano is back for Part 2, and we go deep into what it actually costs women when they stop investing in themselves, why women over 40 are sitting on the best years of their lives, and the simple mental shift that makes it possible to finally say yes to yourself without the guilt spiral. We also talk about social media, self‑promotion, and the real reason most women won’t put themselves out there. Hint: it’s not what you think. Niro brings clinical insight. I bring the Disney World story and a strong opinion about cringe. What You'll Learn in This Episode: What it costs a family long-term when the mother is the only one who doesn't invest in herself Why trying new things is directly connected to cognitive health, brain development, and joy How humility and confidence can coexist (the C.S. Lewis definition that will change how you think about showing up) The real fear behind social media self-promotion and how to do a cost-benefit analysis on it Why "climbing Cringe Mountain" might be the most important thing you do for your calling this year What perimenopause actually does for your ability to stop people-pleasing Why your 40s and 50s are not the beginning of the end Timestamps: (00:52) - What it costs a family when mom is the only one not being invested in (01:11) - The modeling problem: what your kids are learning by watching you (02:00) - Maintaining your identity beyond being a mother and partner (02:41) - Why trying new things matters more than we think (04:04) - The brain science behind learning new things (and Niro's hatchet throwing story) (06:18) - Why Alli takes clients to Disney World twice a year (08:15) - The Mother's Day vs. Father's Day double standard nobody talks about (08:57) - What to say to the woman who has no real reason not to invest in herself (09:43) - The permission exercise: what would you say to a woman you love? (18:36) - C.S. Lewis on humility, and why it changes everything about social media (17:57) - The common roadblock for Christian women who want to build a business (20:16) - The real fear behind not wanting to post (it's not self-promotion) (20:47) - How to do a cost-benefit analysis on putting yourself out there (22:33) - Climbing Cringe Mountain: the cost of admission for doing anything that matters 23:56 - What it costs a family when mom is the only one not being invested in (23:26) - Rapid-fire wrap-up: Niro's current favorites Links to great things we discussed: Niro’s Website NIro’s TV Recommendation - Love Story Niro’s Book Recommendation - Strangers Niro’s Product Recommendation - SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic Function Health Uplift App Wise Woman Era Alli on YouTube I hope you loved this episode! 🎉 Don't forget to hit that subscribe button on Apple Podcasts and Spotify so you’re always in the loop.
