The Ultimate ’90s Cartoon Ranking Showdown

Got something to say to this podcast? Send a voicemail, and you might hear yourself on the next episode! Thirty spots. Dozens of 90s cartoons. No way to see what's coming. One host throws shows at his guest, and every pick is final. On The 90s Grab Bag, host Justin quizzes the other Justin on 90s cartoons, and the guest has to rank each one on the spot. He doesn't know what's still to come. Whatever he puts in a slot stays there. Anything that gets bumped can't come back, and the cut shows land in the goodbye pile. Along the way come theme-song clips, sound bites, and trivia questions that stump the guest more than he expected. Some picks come easy. Others sting. Doug lands near the top, Tailspin gets a defense as an underrated classic, and Captain Planet and Magic School Bus take hits for being too educational. Pokémon never made it onto his list. Then there are shows he remembers but can't justify keeping, like Courage the Cowardly Dog, SpongeBob and Bobby's World. Along the way, the Justin's trade memories of Recess, Animaniacs, Blues Clues and more. Expect a few surprises, including a late curveball for the number one spot. Find out which show took it, and whether the final ranking of 31 survives. It's the first step in a longer countdown, and future episodes will dig into the list, narrow it down, and revisit the shows in depth. Perfect for anyone who grew up on Saturday morning cartoons and has strong opinions about what belongs at number one.

    Ye Olde Risque

Got something to say to this podcast? Send a voicemail, and you might hear yourself on the next episode! Grab a snack and dive in because this week on The 90s Grab Bag, Justin and Abby are unpacking the wild, unhinged era when "sex sells" became the golden rule of pop culture. From brazen shampoo commercials moaning through prime-time TV to double entendre tagline ads for soft drinks and snacks, 90s marketers pushed every envelope they could reach. But it didn't stop there: we dive into the stealth adult humor slipped right under our noses in kids' classics like Animaniacs, Rugrats, and Rocko’s Modern Life, the rise of edge-lords like Beavis and Butt-Head and South Park, and how Austin Powers turned innuendo into an art form. Tune in as we revisit the commercials, cartoons, and late-night TV moments that shaped a generation
