RAF Molesworth Breached: Two Men Arrested Inside US Intelligence Base
transcript
show notes
Two men have been arrested inside RAF Molesworth, one of Britain's most sensitive military installations, prompting a counter-terror investigation under the National Security Act 2023.
In this Taylor Tailored episode, we examine the overnight security breach in Cambridgeshire, where two Latvian nationals were detained after military police discovered an abandoned vehicle and damage to the perimeter fence. We explain what investigators have confirmed, why explosive ordnance specialists were called to examine the recovered vehicle and what the subsequent searches in Peterborough could mean for the inquiry.
RAF Molesworth supports important American and NATO intelligence operations, making unauthorised access a serious security concern. We examine the base's strategic role and why investigators are trying to determine the suspects' motivations.
The arrests also follow a separate investigation near RAF Fairford. We explain what connects the two stories in terms of national security concerns, and why police have warned against assuming they are linked.
