Same Size, Different Jeans: Why Finding Denim Is So Complicated
Ten pairs of jeans. Seven brands. The same size on every tag. Very different results. In Episode 11 of Styled, Off Script, Marge and Liz are joined by Carly, Dia’s Senior Manager of Styling, for the denim experiment we’ve been talking about for months. Carly has always struggled to find jeans that work for her—and wanted to break out of her skinny-jean comfort zone. So we sent her 10 pairs across skinny, straight, relaxed, bootcut and wide-leg silhouettes and asked her to score everything: waist, hips, thighs, rise, inseam, comfort, stretch, style and, ultimately, whether she’d actually keep them. Some longtime favorites fell flat. A bootcut earned a perfect score. And a wide-leg jean Carly never expected to love ended up in her closet. Along the way, we get into why the number on the tag is only a starting point, what rise and inseam actually change, why two jeans in the same size can fit completely differently—and how every “no” can teach you something about what to try next. Because sometimes the problem isn’t your body. It’s just not your jean. Order your own The Great Jeans Try-On Box or submit an SOS at dia.com/sos
