    In this powerful satsang reading and commentary by Swami Kailasananda of Inspiring Talks of Gurudev Sivananda from 20th December 1949, Swami Sivananda speaks with urgency and compassion about the rare and sacred opportunity of spiritual life. He reminds seekers not to squander the priceless gift of Satsang — the company of the wise — and warns of the subtle workings of Maya and ego that constantly pull the mind back into identification with the body and the world. With characteristic humility, Gurudev shares examples from his own life of selfless service, carrying luggage on his head, identifying with laborers, and remaining ever ready to perform the most menial tasks. True purification, he teaches, begins with the annihilation of ego through service. He speaks passionately of sages like Swami Krishnananda, Swami Chidananda, and Swami Vishnudevananda — calling them jewels — and reminds us that the opportunity to sit at the feet of wise souls is the fruit of immense tapas from past births. An opportunity not to be squandered. Swami Sivananda also addresses misconceptions about Bhakti and idol worship, affirming that the Divine can manifest in any form. Through constant study, constant reflection (Vichara), and constant Satsang, the mind becomes saturated with the thought of the Atman. This talk is a call to vigilance: ​To not waste a single day. ​To not postpone renunciation of ego. ​To remember that real bliss lies beyond body, mind, and intellect. “God has given you another day of life — use it to the best advantage.” OM Tat Sat.
