What Happened When I Stopped Trying to Control the Trip

show notes
What if the peace you’ve been waiting for doesn’t come when life finally gets easier, but when you stop needing everything around you to cooperate before you allow yourself to feel it?
I just got home from a family trip to Delaware with my husband and four kids—and if you’re a mom, you already know this was NOT a vacation. It was early mornings, wet bathing suits, constant snacks, overstimulation, kids melting down, me losing my patience sometimes, and a whole lot of “Mamaaaaaa!”
Somehow, right in the middle of all that chaos, I felt more connected than I have in a long time.
We almost didn’t take this trip. Our plan was to stay home this summer, but synchronicity after synchronicity kept nudging us to go. So instead of needing to have it all figured out, we listened. And once I loosened my grip, the Spirit winks were everywhere.
Rainbows. Repeating numbers. White feathers. Seven hawks circling above us. A beautiful orange-and-blue butterfly that immediately made me feel connected to my mom. Ringing in my ear followed by Journey’s Don’t Stop Believin’. And even the damn parking spots we thanked Source for before we arrived and somehow kept getting.
But this episode isn’t really about signs.
It’s about becoming present enough to notice what’s already here.
I’m talking about why control can feel so f*cking safe, what surrender actually looks like in everyday life, coming home to your body when you’re overstimulated, listening to your intuition, and the duality of motherhood—the truth that you can be incredibly grateful for your children AND desperately need ten minutes where nobody talks to or touches you.
Because healing isn’t becoming so regulated that nothing ever triggers you.
For me, it has become about shortening the distance between leaving myself and coming home to myself.
Freedom isn’t waiting for the chaos to disappear. It’s learning how to experience the joy, connection, magic and sacredness that are already happening right in the f*cking middle of it.
In this episode, I’m inviting you to get curious:
What are you trying so hard to control right now that you may not be leaving any room for life to meet you?
You don’t need the entire path illuminated.
You just need enough light for the step you’re taking right now.
