LOCAL NEWS - 6PM Update
Deputy Governor Gloria McField Nixon used her first Public Accounts appearance to accept that Government has fallen short on follow through with recommendations from the Office of the Auditor General and the Public Accounts Committee. She says a new central tracker shows eighty five of one hundred thirty nine recommendations assessed as done, forty in progress, and eleven formally refused. The Office of the Premier gets new leadership next month. Premier Andre Ebanks has appointed Dr. Karie Bergstrom as his Chief of Staff, effective the first of October. She holds a Doctor of Education Ministry degree along with human resources and business continuity credentials. Executive Advisor Juliet DuFeu coordinates the office in the meantime. Fewer jobs on offer across the islands. Workforce Opportunities and Residency Cayman counted more than seventeen hundred positions advertised in August, down from about twenty one hundred in July. Construction carried more than twenty percent of those openings, while only thirty two postings came from the public sector.
