Bob Fabien Zinga: The Difference Between a Business That Pays You and a Life That Means Something

EPISODE OVERVIEW Duration: Approximately 55 minutes Best For: Trapped entrepreneurs who carry every decision themselves and wonder why their team never quite steps up Key Outcome: You will see why your people give you a fraction of what they could, and what changes when you lead instead of manage He started at the very bottom of the most powerful navy in the world. He finished as a commander. The lesson he brought back is the one most business owners never learn. THE BOTTOM LINE You built this thing. You give it everything. That is exactly why you are exhausted. Bob Fabien Zinga came to America at 17 with one suitcase, a guitar, and enough money for a single year of school. He went from seaman recruit to commander in the US Navy, built businesses alongside a full career, and now spends his time helping other people rise. The thing he keeps coming back to is this. Most people give their work about 25 percent of what they are capable of. Management, done well, can get them to 100. Leadership takes them past it. If you are the only one in your business operating at full effort, you do not have a team problem. You have a leadership gap, and it is the reason every decision still runs through you. WHY THIS EPISODE MATTERS TO YOU You already know you are the bottleneck. This episode explains the mechanism behind it. When your people run at a quarter of their capacity, you fill the other three quarters yourself. That is your 55 to 80 hour week. Bob draws a hard line between management and leadership. Management is a science you can learn from a book. Leadership is what gets people to care about something bigger than the task in front of them. Get that right and work stops flowing back to your desk. He watched people in the Navy give everything for the sailor beside them, not because someone managed them well, because they shared a mission. The same force is available to you. Most owners have never once made their vision clear enough for anyone else to carry it. The cost of staying as you are is not just tired days. It is a business that cannot survive a week without you, and a life measured only by the hours you put in. KEY INSIGHTS YOU CAN IMPLEMENT TODAY Your team is not lazy. They are unled. The 25 percent figure Bob quotes is what people give by default. The rest is unlocked by a shared mission, not by you working harder to cover the gap. You cannot delegate what you have never articulated. In the Navy they call it command by negation. Sailors act on the commander's intent because there is nobody there to ask. If your intent lives only in your head, everything has to come back through you. Caring about your people has to be real, never a checkbox. Bob says people smell it a mile off, the same way children do. The fastest route out of the bottleneck is a team that trusts you enough to own their part. AI can carry the repetitive load. It cannot decide, cannot feel, cannot bear responsibility. Get clear on which tasks in your day are genuinely human and which are just noise you have been absorbing. Success does not satisfy. Bob reached the top and found it empty. The shift from success to significance is what makes stepping back feel like a gain rather than a loss. You are not abandoning the business. You are making room for a life. GOLDEN QUOTES WORTH REMEMBERING "Once you attain a certain level of success, I think it is really your duty and your responsibility to start helping other people." Bob Fabien Zinga "With leadership you can get to 110, 120 percent. And the way you can do that is because leadership is more than a science, it is an art." Bob Fabien Zinga "Nobody is going to say on their deathbed, I want to go back to the office and make an extra dollar. It is going to be the people you love, the people you impacted." Bob Fabien Zinga "We listen so often as humans. We listen to answer. We need to listen to understand." Roy Castleman "It is really the impact you are having on the life of other people. All that money is going to stay right here." Write down your intent behind it in plain words, then hand both the decision and the intent to someone on your team. This Month: Sit down and make your vision clear enough that someone else could repeat it back to you. If they cannot carry it, they cannot take work off you. This Quarter: Audit a full week of your tasks. Mark what is genuinely human, what could go to your team, and what could go to AI. Then start moving things off your plate, one column at a time. Bryan Blackmon: How He Clawed Out of Rock Bottom (And What It Teaches Trapped Business Owners)

EPISODE OVERVIEW Duration: Approximately 45 minutes Best For: Trapped entrepreneurs who feel like the business they built to give them freedom has quietly become the thing running them Key Outcome: A simpler way to look at your day, your thoughts and your environment, so you stop carrying weight that was never yours to carry He rebuilt everything from a car, a tent and a borrowed roof. The turnaround did not come from doing more. It came from taking things away. THE BOTTOM LINE You built this thing from nothing, and somewhere along the way it started running you. Bryan Blackmon knows that feeling in a different form. He lost everything, then rebuilt from absolute zero. The thing is, his story is not really about addiction or homelessness. It is about who holds the controls in your life. Bryan and Roy get into why you can only control your own mind, why adding more (the raise, the new car, the extra hours) rarely settles the noise, and why taking things away is where the real change lives. For a business owner working 55 to 80 hours a week, that idea lands hard. You have spent years adding. This is a conversation about what happens when you stop. WHY THIS EPISODE MATTERS TO YOU You feel guilty resting and guilty working. Bryan and Roy explain why that comes from an internal voice you can actually change, and what happens to your whole day once you do. If everything runs through you, the chaos in your head is part of the problem. This episode shows how clearing that noise creates room to think, so the business stops feeling like a cage. Bryan makes the case for subtraction over addition. For an owner drowning in tasks, that is the first honest step toward stepping back. The cost of ignoring this is another eighteen months of reaching for your phone before your feet hit the floor, and another eighteen months of your business owning you instead of the other way round. KEY INSIGHTS YOU CAN IMPLEMENT TODAY Taking responsibility for your environment gives you power, not blame. The moment Roy accepted he controlled how he walked into a room, the weight shifted. For a trapped owner, that means the bottleneck is not a life sentence, it is a decision. Growth often comes from removing people, places and things, not adding them. You keep adding staff, tools and hours hoping for peace. Bryan found the opposite worked. Less noise, more clarity. Accept the worst case and the weight lifts. When Roy sat with losing everything, the fear that had frozen him loosened. Once you can face the worst, you can ask the smaller question, what can I do to make it a little better today. Look at where you were two months ago, not just where you think you should be. Grab a pen and paper. Momentum is easier to see backwards, and seeing it makes the next step lighter. Protect your first 30 minutes. Bryan does not touch his phone for half an hour after waking. For an owner whose day is hijacked by everyone else's needs, that first half hour is the one bit of the day you can actually own. GOLDEN QUOTES WORTH REMEMBERING "I can only control my mind and my feelings." Bryan Blackmon "When I took responsibility, okay, I am in control of every single thing in my environment. Realising the power that gave me, that power was really something." Roy Castleman "You can look at your past, just don't stare at it." Bryan Blackmon "You can control your sail, you cannot control the storm." Bryan Blackmon "You can't start anything if you don't know what you want." Bryan Blackmon QUICK NAVIGATION FOR BUSY LEADERS 00:00 - Introduction: Roy's morning of meditation, ice bath and breath work, and why how you start the day sets everything after it 03:30 - Bryan's story: From Fort Worth to sleeping in a car in California, and the moment 942 days ago that changed direction 09:00 - Taking responsibility for your environment: Why control starts with your own mind, not the outside world 13:30 - Subtraction over addition: The counterintuitive lesson that removing things, not adding them, created real change 18:00 - Accepting the worst case: How facing losing everything lifted the weight and freed up the next step 23:00 - Momentum and compound interest: Small daily disciplines and why looking backwards shows you further than you think 30:00 - The voice in your head: How you talk to yourself, celebrating small wins, and the meditation that clears the noise 38:00 - Morning and evening routines: Protecting your peace, your energy and your time, and building the Crab Transformation Experience 43:00 - Conclusion: Bryan's one piece of advice, get clear on what you actually want before you try to change anything GUEST SPOTLIGHT Name: Bryan Blackmon Bio: Bryan Blackmon is the founder and operator of Crab Crew Life, a high-accountability transformation platform designed to force real-world behavioral consistency. Pick one to remove. Then look back at where you were two months ago and mark what has actually moved. This Quarter: Get honest about what you actually want from this business. Jannik Claudi: The Subconscious Crew Rowing Your Business Backwards

EPISODE OVERVIEW Duration: Approximately 42 minutes Best For: Trapped entrepreneurs who set a bigger target, start strong, then find themselves quietly drifting back to the level that feels safe Key Outcome: You will understand why growth stalls even when you know exactly what to do, and how small consistent steps beat trying to change everything at once You set the course for a bigger year. Weeks later you are back where you started, and you cannot explain how. THE BOTTOM LINE Jannik Claudi runs a business he built to be himself, not to fit someone else's mould. In this conversation he shares a picture that will stick with you. Imagine your business is a ship and you are the captain. You set a new course for a bigger goal. The thing is, most of your crew is below deck where you cannot see them, and some of them do not want to go where you are pointing. One is quietly planning to row back to the level that felt safe. That is not weakness. That is you, the trapped entrepreneur, running into the part of yourself that was built to keep you comfortable. Jannik works with owners to find what that hidden crew actually wants, then feed it the right way so it starts rowing with you instead of against you. One client sold his business and wanted to do ten things at once. He was doing none. They started with one gym session a week. By week eight or ten he was training four times, reading, walking hours a day, trading, all of it. That is the compounding effect of doing it the natural way, one step at a time. WHY THIS EPISODE MATTERS TO YOU You keep setting bigger goals and keep sliding back, and you blame discipline. This episode shows you the real reason, and it is not laziness. If everything runs through you, part of the problem lives in your head, not your diary. Understanding that changes how you approach every plan you make from here. Jannik's client went from doing nothing to a full, consistent routine by starting with one action a week. That is the escape from the all-or-nothing trap that keeps you frozen. Keep pushing through change by sheer will and you will keep burning out at the same ceiling. This gives you a gentler way through. KEY INSIGHTS YOU CAN IMPLEMENT TODAY The all-at-once approach is why your new plans collapse. Jannik makes clients do one small step a week on purpose, because a plan with a near-zero failure rate builds the momentum that a giant to-do list destroys. When you set a bigger goal and everything suddenly goes sideways, that is your subconscious rowing back to safe. Name what the safe version of you is protecting and you can work with it instead of fighting it. AI only gives you rubbish when you give it rubbish. Roy talks about doing 172 hours of his old work in a day, not by handing everything over, but by teaching the AI to think critically and working with it together, one small project at a time. You are judging today's attempt on who you were a year ago. You are not that person now. Try the thing that failed before with the skills you have since gained and the output changes. Everything that triggers you, the driver who cuts you off, the client who frustrates you, is a notification pointing inward. That is where the work is, and doing it makes you steadier as the person running everything. GOLDEN QUOTES WORTH REMEMBERING "Even if he's a dickhead, why do you let him change your reality?" - Jannik Claudi "A trigger always leads inside." - Jannik Claudi "If you pour love inside the right way, what comes out is love." - Jannik Claudi "I live for every failure, because every failure is an opportunity for me to learn something." - Roy Castleman "Follow your own inner voice. And if you don't have it, the one best thing to do is do nothing." - Jannik Claudi QUICK NAVIGATION FOR BUSY LEADERS 00:00 - Introduction: Meeting Jannik and the shared Wim Hof work that connected them 03:15 - Leaving the safe path: Why Jannik walked away from mainstream psychology to be himself 08:30 - AI as a thinking partner: How to work with it instead of letting it make you lazy 14:00 - Finding your voice: Roy on authoring a book by talking his stories out 19:20 - The mirror principle: Everything you put out comes back, and why that is your responsibility 24:40 - Level one and the driver who cuts you off: Learning the natural way, without shame 30:10 - The ship and the hidden crew: The subconscious model behind why growth stalls 36:00 - One step a week: The client who did nothing, then everything, by starting small 40:30 - Conclusion: Follow your inner voice, and when you cannot hear it, do nothing GUEST SPOTLIGHT Name: Jannik Claudi Bio: Jannik Claudi is a business coach and founder of The Keys to Balance. He studied psychology in Amsterdam, trained as a Wim Hof Method instructor and a qigong instructor, and now helps business owners find clarity, inner calm and focus by working with the subconscious patterns that quietly steer their results. Shrink it to a single action you can do once this week. One gym session. One page. One call. Do only that. This Month: Notice every time a new plan makes something go sideways. Write down what the safe version of you is trying to protect. That pattern is your ceiling. This Quarter: Take one project you would normally do alone and work through it with AI in small steps, teaching it your voice and your standards as you go, rather than expecting it to read your mind. EPISODE RESOURCES The Keys to Balance (Jannik's company): https://thekeystobalance.de/wp-content/index.html Wim Hof Method breathing and cold exposure work Notion, used alongside AI to hold your own structure rather than living inside the large language model Teal Swan, referenced as the source of the ship and crew subconscious model No additional links were mentioned for these resources in the episode. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ READY TO ESCAPE THE TRAP? Bart Merrell: The Money Already Sitting in Your Own Backyard

EPISODE OVERVIEW Duration: Approximately 38 minutes Best For: Trapped entrepreneurs who wait for permission, a qualification, or the "right time" before acting on what they already know how to do Key Outcome: You will start seeing the skills, stories, and setbacks already inside your business as income and freedom, instead of waiting for something you do not have yet You have been sitting on the thing that sets you free, and you sold it for scrap. THE BOTTOM LINE Bart Merrell has never had a job in the way you would recognise one. He took the first commercial bungee jump to Japan, helped launch thrill rides, got disqualified from the FBI, and when he lost his lower left leg in 2024, he turned even that into a way to help other people. Running through all of it is one habit. Whatever crosses his path, good, bad or ugly, he asks how he can monetise it. That matters to you because you already carry more value than you charge for. You built this thing from nothing, and somewhere along the way you started treating the things you are best at as ordinary. Bart's story of his father, a pig farmer who sold the farm and died still searching for his next big thing while the new owner found a fortune buried in the ground, is a mirror. The freedom you are chasing is often already sitting in your own backyard. You just stopped looking at it. WHY THIS EPISODE MATTERS TO YOU You keep telling yourself you need a qualification, a certificate, or someone's blessing before you act. That belief is one of the quiet reasons you feel stuck. Bart became a bungee jump master in Japan and imported vehicles he had never imported before, all by saying yes and learning as he went. If you are the bottleneck because everything runs through your head, the fix is not always more delegation. Sometimes it is recognising that what feels effortless to you is exactly what other people would pay for. That reframe is what opens up new income without adding more hours. The things you do because you have to, the hard experiences, the setbacks, often carry the most value. Bart turned his amputation into a business helping others through limb loss. What you have lived through is something AI can never take from you. The cost of ignoring this is quiet and expensive. You keep grinding on the low value work while the real opportunity sits untouched, the way pig poop worth a dollar a pound sat under a farm for years. KEY INSIGHTS YOU CAN IMPLEMENT TODAY Say yes, then figure it out. Roy sent out a CV with his brother's name typed over, walked into interviews for jobs he barely knew, and phoned for help from client bathrooms for two and a half months. He bought that company in 2017. Confidence to learn beats waiting to feel ready. Sell it before you build it. Roy's client David got asked if he could do a Barry Manilow tribute act. He said yes, made a leaflet, and turned it into around £400,000 in bookings across theatres, Vegas, and cruise ships within a year. He committed first, then delivered. Knowledge used to be the bottleneck. It is not anymore. Bart rebuilt his own website for £25 in credits rather than paying £1,500. The gap now is not knowing, it is being willing to do. That said, you have to put the work in. The seven prompts that replace a team are noise. Value what feels ordinary to you. Roy's partner reads astrology for free at parties and calls herself unqualified, while people with less knowledge charge happily online. You are probably doing the same thing with something in your own business right now. Look at the light, not the shadow. So much fear surrounds AI. The better question is which parts of your week drain you, and how you free yourself and your team to do more of the work that feels human. GOLDEN QUOTES WORTH REMEMBERING "You do not need the qualifications, you just need to know a little bit more than the next person in the room." - Roy Castleman "When someone comes to you with a good opportunity and you don't know how to do it, say yes and figure it out." - Bart Merrell, quoting Richard Branson "Knowledge used to be the bottleneck. Now it's not. You just got to be willing to learn it and do it." - Bart Merrell "We're paying way more attention to the shadow that's being cast than the light that's being created." - Bart Merrell "Don't be like my dad and overlook the things that are right there within your reach, right in your own backyard. They might even look like a pile of pig poop." - Bart Merrell QUICK NAVIGATION FOR BUSY LEADERS 00:00 - Introduction: Why every idea dies if you cannot answer one question, how will you monetise it 03:15 - The bungee jump in Japan: what a little brilliant and a little crazy teaches you about running a business 08:30 - You do not need the qualification: Roy's story of walking into jobs he had never done and learning on the phone 14:00 - Say yes then figure it out: David's Barry Manilow act and £400,000 in a year 19:20 - Knowledge is now £20 a month: rebuilding a website for £25 and why doing beats knowing 25:10 - Monetise Your Mindset: turning what you like, what you need to do, and even an amputation into income 31:40 - Valuing yourself: why you devalue the things you are best at, and how to stop 35:00 - Conclusion: Acres of pig poop and the fortune buried in your own backyard GUEST SPOTLIGHT Name: Bart Merrell Bio: Bart Merrell has never had a job in the ordinary sense and does not believe you need one either. He teaches people to build financial security by monetising what they already know and do, an approach he calls the Monetised Mindset. From a pig farm in New Mexico to launching thrill rides in Japan, and turning the loss of his lower left leg in 2024 into a business helping others, Bart shows trapped entrepreneurs how to find income and purpose in what is already right in front of them. Pick one and put a price next to it. That is the value you have been giving away. This Month: Take one idea you have been sitting on because you do not feel qualified, and say yes to a first small version of it. Sell it before you build it, then learn your way through, the way Roy did on the phone. This Quarter: Look at your week honestly. Find the low value work that drains you and start moving it off your plate, using AI or your team, so you free up hours for the work only you can do. LaKisha Mosley: She Built a Successful Business, Then She Couldn't Get Out of Bed

EPISODE OVERVIEW Duration: Approximately 42 minutes Best For: Trapped entrepreneurs who keep saying yes when every part of them is screaming no Key Outcome: A clear sense of what your own success actually looks like, and permission to step back before your body forces you to She was running mental wellness events. Advocating for mental health. Then she sat in her bedroom wondering if she should carry on living. THE BOTTOM LINE LaKisha Mosley had a successful business. That was the problem. Her events sold out, she was on stages and tours, the money came in, and one night in November it all stopped working. A twenty minute breakdown that felt like a panic attack mixed with a heart attack. She did not crash because the business failed. She crashed because she was saying yes when she should have said no, never resting, never listening to the quiet voice telling her to sit down. If you have ever felt physically present at your kid's show while your mind was somewhere else entirely, this conversation is a mirror. LaKisha took 60 days off and the business held. Out of that recovery came Soft Simple CEO, a way of running a company that does not tax your sanity. The reflection running through it all is simple and uncomfortable. What if success never required you to abandon yourself in the first place. WHY THIS EPISODE MATTERS TO YOU You built this thing for freedom and somewhere along the way it became the prison. LaKisha names exactly how that happens, and what it costs when you ignore the warning signs your body keeps sending. Most owners chase a number because everyone else is chasing it. LaKisha hit six figures during the pandemic with no plan to hold it, and that pursuit is what damaged her health the most. Listening to this could stop you repeating the same mistake. The guilt of stepping away keeps you chained to the desk. Roy and LaKisha take that guilt apart. When the corporate CEO took a holiday, nobody fell apart. Your business will not either. If you keep waiting for permission to rest, the cost is your longevity. The statistics on how long leaders live are not kind, and pretending you are the exception is the most expensive bet you can make. KEY INSIGHTS YOU CAN IMPLEMENT TODAY Regulation before strategy. LaKisha does not touch email until 10 or 11am. Devotion, journaling, a morning walk. None of your productivity apps work if the person running them is depleted and in survival mode. Stepping away does not mean the business collapses. LaKisha took 60 days off during recovery and client events still ran. The fear of letting go is rarely matched by what actually happens when you do. Know what fills your cup, then book it. Roy's trick: see something that calls to you, book a flight or put a deposit down before the moment passes. LaKisha now does the same when she feels the depression coming. A staycation, room service, her journal. No guilt. Redefine success on your own terms. Roy had a million pounds and was miserable working 14 hour days, seven days a week. LaKisha decided she does not need to be a millionaire, she needs a life that takes care of her family and leaves a legacy. Decide what enough looks like before the number runs you. Amanda Knarr: The Business You Built For Freedom Became Your Prison

EPISODE OVERVIEW Duration: Approximately 42 minutes Best For: Trapped entrepreneurs who carry every decision, every worry, and every sleepless night alone, and have nobody to say it to Key Outcome: You will see why the loneliness is not a weakness in you, and how to bring the human back to the surface while AI handles the rest You started this for freedom. Somewhere along the way it became the thing you cannot put down. THE BOTTOM LINE You are the public face. Positive, tenacious, glass half full, because you have to be. Underneath that, you are carrying things you cannot say out loud. You cannot tell your staff payroll feels tight this month, because they will worry. You cannot tell your family, because you are trying to protect them. So you hold it. All of it. Amanda Knarr has spent her career sitting across from people exactly like you, and she names the part nobody says: the business you built for freedom can become your biggest prison. In this conversation she explains why that loneliness forms, why it is dangerous, and what actually shifts it. Roy shares the moment his own stress took him to the top of a 130 foot tower. The thing is, this episode is not about pain. It is about what happens when you stop carrying it alone, and how the human side of you becomes the thing that no machine can copy. WHY THIS EPISODE MATTERS TO YOU You will understand why you feel lonely even surrounded by people. Your team is passionate. They did not put their mortgage on the line. That gap is real, and naming it is the start of carrying less. You will hear what happens when entrepreneurs stay silent too long. Amanda explains that the loneliest founders become the most vulnerable to people who do not have their best interest at heart. Knowing this protects you. You will see how to use AI as a 60% tool, not a 90% one. The owners who lean on it for everything will produce work that feels hollow. The ones who stay the architect will raise the human and pull ahead. If you keep holding everything yourself, the cost is not just the business. It is your sleep, your health, and your sense of who you are underneath the public face. KEY INSIGHTS YOU CAN IMPLEMENT TODAY The loneliness is not a personal failing. It is structural. You made the sacrifices nobody else made, so the weight sits with you. Once you accept that, you can go looking for the right room instead of pretending you do not need one. A strong co founding team or a small group of people who genuinely get it shares the load that one set of shoulders was never built to carry. Amanda is careful not to prescribe one fix. She is clear that an outlet matters. AI does not replace human connection, it raises the value of it. Treat it like a junior staff member. You stay the architect. You bring the heart. Throw something thin at it and you get something thin back. Showing up unpolished is good psychology and good business. Amanda's strongest advice: stop hiding the mess. When you are disconnected from yourself, you drift toward burnout without noticing. Bringing the real you to the surface is the healthiest practice she knows. Roy's own example shows the way through. He could not type, never could. Talk to text plus AI gave him his voice and his book. The effort was substantial, 20 years of knowledge bookended at the start, the middle, and the end. The tool did not do it for him. It massaged what he already had closer to what he meant. GOLDEN QUOTES WORTH REMEMBERING "This thing that you started for freedom becomes your biggest prison." - Roy Castleman "They didn't put their mortgage on the line. They didn't make the sacrifices that you have as an entrepreneur. So it is extremely lonely." - Amanda Knarr "It's not getting it to do it for you, it's getting it to massage what you have to be closer to what you're trying to put out there." - Roy Castleman "Show up in the mess, in how it's working, and not be too afraid of being unpolished." - Amanda Knarr "I don't think that there's going to be anything that replaces human connection." - Amanda Knarr QUICK NAVIGATION FOR BUSY LEADERS 00:00 - Introduction: Why the emotional side of business is the part nobody talks about 03:30 - Amanda leaves corporate: the moment the systems no longer fit and she went deeper into the human side 07:00 - Honouring the entrepreneur: less than 2% ever start a business, and the underbelly of doing it all yourself 10:30 - The loneliness nobody admits: why your team can be passionate and you still feel alone 15:00 - The badge of honour problem: when running on no sleep gets celebrated, and where it nearly took Roy 20:00 - Vulnerability and manipulation: why the loneliest founders are the easiest to take advantage of 24:00 - AI overwhelm is real: the list that keeps growing instead of getting fixed 29:00 - The 60% tool: staying the architect and raising the human instead of replacing it 34:00 - Roy's book and finding his voice: how talk to text and AI unlocked a lifelong dream 39:00 - Conclusion: show up authentically, in the mess, and stop pushing for something other than what is GUEST SPOTLIGHT Name: Amanda Knarr Bio: Amanda Knarr is a Senior Consultant at Slalom, where she helps organisations navigate transformation, change, and organisational effectiveness. Not your team. Not your family. Someone who gets it. This Month: Find your room. A small group, a co founder relationship, a therapeutic outlet, whatever fits you. The point is you stop being the only set of shoulders. This Quarter: Pick one task you have been forcing yourself to do badly and hand 60% of it to AI while you stay the architect. David Chametzky: He Didn't Know His Heart Was 98% Blocked Until It Nearly Stopped Him

EPISODE OVERVIEW Duration: Approximately 38 minutes Best For: Trapped entrepreneurs who keep skipping the meal, the rest, and the help because the business won't run without them Key Outcome: A simple way to reset yourself in seconds, plus the honesty to know which lane is yours and which work belongs to someone else David Chametzky built a 30 year career, walked away from it, and felt great. Six weeks later he found out his heart was 98% blocked. THE BOTTOM LINE You know what you should be doing. You have mirrors in your house, as David puts it. The thing is, knowing it and feeling the urgency are two different animals, and most business owners only get the urgency when something breaks. David got home late, ate the quickest thing he could find, told himself wellness wouldn't touch him, and nearly paid for it with his life. In this conversation he shares the reset he teaches executives and top athletes, a way to calm your fight or flight in 10 to 15 seconds without leaving your chair. He talks about staying in your lane when every problem looks like an opportunity, and why the smartest move you can make is to stop being the smartest person in the room. If you have built yourself a job you cannot quit, this one will land. WHY THIS EPISODE MATTERS TO YOU You are running in fight or flight most of the day, and every decision still goes through you. David explains why that state makes your choices worse, and how to switch it off in seconds so you can think clearly again. You keep skipping your own health to keep the business moving. David thought he was fine too. His story is the wake up call you can have without the hospital bed. You chase every shiny opportunity because you can see how to fix it. David calls this out plainly, and shows what happens when you pick one lane instead of four. If you carry on the way you are, the cost is not just tiredness. It is the meal you grab in the car, the rest you feel guilty taking, and the day your body decides for you. KEY INSIGHTS YOU CAN IMPLEMENT TODAY The reset button you already half use. Rub your hands together in a circular motion for 10 to 15 seconds and add slow breathing. David calls it the Havening touch. It starts generating the brain waves you use when you sleep, which is why high performers do it without realising. Use it before a tough call and you make the decision from a calmer place. Think quicker by being slower. David trains people to practice the pause. When you remove the panic from a decision, the decision gets easier. For a trapped entrepreneur whose whole day is decisions, that pause is the difference between reacting and choosing. Know your lane. David can change a flat tyre. He will not start rebuilding the engine, because that is not his strength. Most owners burn hours doing work that belongs to someone else. The freedom comes from naming what is genuinely yours and handing the rest over. Eat the frog first. David starts the day with a meditation, a few gratitudes, then the one task he least wants to do. Get the worst thing out of the way while you have energy, and the rest of the day runs downhill. Make your health a non negotiable, not a calendar entry. David's point is sharp. Putting it on the calendar is the easy part. Doing it is where everyone gets stuck. A meal in your house tonight beats a meal grabbed in the car at nine. GOLDEN QUOTES WORTH REMEMBERING "The monsters in our head are much worse than the monsters under our beds when we were children." David Chametzky "I knew what I had to do. I just didn't find the urgency." David Chametzky "We shouldn't ever be the smartest guy in the room, always wanting to learn." David Chametzky "Rich doesn't mean money. Rich means the freedom to do what you want." David Chametzky "You can't read the label from inside the jar." Roy Castleman QUICK NAVIGATION FOR BUSY LEADERS 00:00 - Introduction: Two podcasters who talked for hours, and the heart scare that nearly changed everything 03:30 - The 98% blockage: Why David thought wellness wouldn't touch him, and the quick fixes he made after 07:00 - Grief, guilt and healing: The losses that shaped him and why we never give them enough time 13:00 - Your personal reset button: The 10 second Havening touch to switch off fight or flight 16:30 - Into entrepreneurship: Leaving a comfortable corporate job to help people live with less panic 22:00 - Staying in your lane: Why asking for help beats being too proud to say I don't know 27:00 - Shiny shit itis: The curse of seeing an opportunity in every problem, and one in one out 31:00 - AI as your who: How Roy orchestrates agents, and why you still have to do the work 36:00 - Conclusion: The wins that get David up in the morning, and where to reach him GUEST SPOTLIGHT Name: David Chametzky Bio: David Chametzky is a TEDx speaker, executive coach, author, media host and mentor who trains people to live with less stress and more resilience. This Month: Write down the work that is genuinely yours and the work that belongs to someone else, or to a tool. Hand over one thing from the second list and keep it handed over. Simon Coton: How to Build AI Systems That Do the Work of 14 People

EPISODE OVERVIEW Duration: Approximately 45 minutes Best For: Trapped entrepreneurs who tried ChatGPT, got generic rubbish back, and quietly decided AI was not for them Key Outcome: You will understand how to turn the knowledge that lives in your head into systems that run without you sitting at the desk Roy sat across from a marketing agency owner with 14 people on his books. Then he showed him what one AI system was already doing more than all 14. THE BOTTOM LINE You built this business because you wanted freedom. Then you ended up spending more hours at your desk than you ever did working for someone else. Roy and Simon Coton both know that feeling. The thing is, Simon has spent the last two years working out how to take everything that sits in your head, your voice, your brand, your process, and hand it to a system that does the heavy lifting. Roy walks through exactly how he used it. A book he could never start, written. A website rebuilt in a couple of hours. A month of LinkedIn posts gathered, drafted and scheduled. Two and a half days of podcast editing done in 15 minutes. None of this is about replacing the human. It is about raising the human up, so the skill you spent 15 years building reaches ten times more people while you work fewer hours. WHY THIS EPISODE MATTERS TO YOU Every task you used to do by hand, finding a note, editing a video, writing a post, is time you will never get back. Simon shows how that time stops bleeding out the moment you build a system once and let it run forever. You have 15, 20, 30 years of business knowledge in your head. That knowledge is now the most valuable thing you own. This episode shows you why the person who understands their own process wins, and the person who hands it all to a black box loses. You are the bottleneck because nobody does it like you do. Roy reframes that. Your branding person, your developer, the people with the real skill can spend all their time on that skill instead of the busywork, and serve ten times more customers. That is how you stop being the centre of everything. Carry on doing it the old way and you keep paying 600 quid to a developer for a job that now takes two hours, you keep watching the clock, and you keep telling yourself you will get to your own ideas one day. KEY INSIGHTS YOU CAN IMPLEMENT TODAY You do not need to learn everything anymore. Roy could never get his book started. So he talked it. Sixty life stories spoken aloud, fed in with his own voice and writing style, and the first chapter brought him to tears because he had never heard his own story told back to him. The lesson hides in there. The thing you keep putting off because you are not good enough at it might just need a different way in. AI is a 60 percent tool, not a 90 percent tool. Roy keeps what he calls the architect role. He knows the vision, he knows the plan, and he keeps pulling the work back on track. The system does the lifting. He stays the one who decides. That is how letting go stops feeling like losing control. Starting now is an advantage, not a disadvantage. Simon makes the point that you can pick up 80 percent of what someone learned two years ago in a month or two, and you get all the mistakes they made for free. Feeling late is the thing keeping most owners from starting at all. The critique matters more than the praise. Roy's single most-used move in two years is feeding in an idea and asking what am I missing, what is wrong, go and research whether this actually works. We are all biased towards our own ideas. A system that flatters you is worthless. One that pushes back makes you sharper. Build outside the tool, not inside it. Roy keeps everything portable so he can move between Claude, Codex and others when one of them slows down or changes its pricing. If everything lives inside one platform, you are stuck the day that platform changes the rules. GOLDEN QUOTES WORTH REMEMBERING "You do it all in the name of freedom. And then you spend more hours at your desk than you ever did with a job." - Simon Coton "The most powerful people moving forward are those that have inherent inbuilt context that others don't have around their industry, around their niche, around their function." - Simon Coton "If we can raise the human up, those are the companies that aren't going to be delivering slop." - Roy Castleman "I read my first story and it actually brought me to tears, because I'd never heard my own story in that way." - Roy Castleman "The tools are getting easier, but the processes haven't changed. Everyone can now create a meta ad, but not everyone can create a brilliant one that returns on investment." - Simon Coton QUICK NAVIGATION FOR BUSY LEADERS 00:00 - Introduction: Why one in a hundred people ever build a business, and what that says about you 03:30 - Doing it for freedom: Simon on the moment the job became the cage, and why your desk feels different now 07:00 - The opportunity nobody is taking: everyone talks about AI, hardly anyone in the real world is using it 11:00 - The 60 percent tool: keeping the architect role so you stay in control while the system does the work 15:00 - Roy's book: how 60 spoken life stories became chapters in his own voice 20:00 - From two and a half days to 15 minutes: the podcast and content systems Roy built 26:00 - Doing more than 14 staff: augmentation instead of replacement, and freeing your team's real skill 32:00 - Where it is heading: autonomous systems, the danger of AI grading its own work, and why context wins 40:00 - The cost question: paying 300 a month instead of 20, and why value beats price 43:00 - Conclusion: where the Agentic Academy goes next and how to join GUEST SPOTLIGHT Name: Simon Coton Bio: Simon helps business owners build agentic systems that run their business. He runs a paid community of over 1,500 members and has taught more than 100,000 people online how to put these systems to work. He sits at the bleeding edge of this technology and explains it in a way that keeps the human at the centre. That document is the start of handing it over. This Month: Get a proper subscription and spend a day talking, not typing, your knowledge into a system. Your voice, your process, your stories. Build one thing that runs forever. This Quarter: Look at your team the way Roy looked at that agency owner's 14 people. Christian Komor: Use AI to Work Less and Be More Human

EPISODE OVERVIEW Duration: Approximately 30 minutes Best For: Trapped entrepreneurs who are scared AI will gut their team, when it could be the thing that finally gives them their evenings back Key Outcome: A clear way to see AI as the tool that takes the mundane off your plate, so you and your staff can work six hours a day and spend the rest being human You built a business with ten staff, and the thought of AI doing the work of seven of them keeps you up at night. THE BOTTOM LINE You have spent years carrying every decision, every task, every late night that nobody else could do. Christian Komor came on to talk about climate work on a scale most of us will never touch, and somewhere in the middle of it he and Roy landed on something that matters for your Tuesday morning. AI is not the thing that empties your office. It is the thing that takes the boring, repetitive work off your team so they can do what humans are actually good at, connecting with customers, talking to suppliers, being present. Roy puts the picture in front of you plainly. Ten staff, ten times the output, everyone home for dinner, working six hours a day. That is not a fantasy. That is what happens when you stop using your people for tasks a machine should be doing. The cost of carrying on as you are is not just your tiredness. It is the version of your business, and your life, that you keep putting off. WHY THIS EPISODE MATTERS TO YOU You are exhausted because the grind has become the point. This episode shows you what happens when AI takes the mundane off your desk and your team's desks, and you get hours back that were never yours to lose. The fear keeping you stuck is "if I only need three staff, what do I do with the other ten." Roy answers it directly. You keep them, you do ten times more, and everyone works less. Because you listened, that fear stops running the show. You stop being the bottleneck the moment you accept AI is a sixty percent tool, not a magic button. You stay the architect. The machine handles the repetitive load. That is the shift that lets you step back without things falling over. Carry on as you are and you keep trading your evenings, your family time and your health for tasks that did not need a human in the first place. That is the price of doing nothing. KEY INSIGHTS YOU CAN IMPLEMENT TODAY The grind became the goal somewhere along the way. Christian and Roy name it. The last twenty years trained you to do more and make more, and the result is a business owner who is never present. Naming it is the first step to stepping out of it. AI is a sixty percent tool at best. People see the social media hype and expect it to run their business for them. It will not. You hold the human architect role and you guide it clearly. When you treat it that way, it takes work off you instead of disappointing you. Use AI for the mundane, keep the human for the human. The tasks that drain you and your team, the repetitive ones, those go to the machine. The work you and your staff love, connecting with people, that is what you do more of. Same team, very different days. Coming together beats burying yourself. Christian talks about people reconnecting, with each other and with nature, after years lost to small screens. The reflection lands close to home for any owner who has put work ahead of the people around them. Christian's own moment came from a hospital window, watching families together in the rooms across from his. He nearly walked away from everything. What pulled him back was the simple sense that we are meant to be with and for each other. The work is meant to serve that, not swallow it. GOLDEN QUOTES WORTH REMEMBERING "If you have ten staff, imagine doing ten times more and letting your staff and you work six hours a day. Wouldn't that be nice?" - Roy Castleman "They look to it and they think this is going to do everything for me. It's just not. It's a sixty percent tool at best. You have to hold the human architect role." - Roy Castleman "We've fallen away from being humans over the last twenty years. It's all about the grind, all about doing more and making more money." - Roy Castleman "We really are meant to be together with and for each other." - Christian Komor QUICK NAVIGATION FOR BUSY LEADERS 00:00 - Introduction: Christian Komor joins Roy, a write-in candidate for governor in Colorado, and AI sits right at the centre of his work 03:30 - Mining the sky: Christian explains the carbon removal and data centre plan, and why AI made the planning possible at all 09:15 - Knowledge is now free: Roy on AI doing in an afternoon what used to take centuries, and what that means when you are no longer top of the tree 14:00 - The economics of power: why using less is top of mind, and how efficiency drives the whole thing 17:30 - Work less, be more human: Roy on the grind, and the cost of putting work ahead of family and staff 21:00 - The ten staff question: the fear of replacing people answered, and the six hour day picture 25:30 - The CEO and the lifeboat: Christian on coming together instead of going separate ways 28:00 - Conclusion: a hospital window, families together, and one clear message about why we are meant to be with each other GUEST SPOTLIGHT Name: Christian Komor Bio: Dr. Komor is a nationally recognised expert in climate intervention and carbon removal whose work has influenced federal policy. In early 2021 he advised White House Executive Office staff, contributing to carbon removal provisions in H.R. 3684. He developed the Interstate SkyCarbon Blueprint, a framework to coordinate large-scale Direct Atmospheric Carbon Removal across more than 20 U.S. state governments, starting with the Colorado Governor's Office in 2026, and he leads the U.S. Climate Deadline Alliance. Connect with Christian: Website: k4gov.com LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/skycarbonblueprint/ YOUR NEXT ACTIONS This Week: Write down the five tasks that drained you most this week. Ask which of them genuinely needed a human, and which a machine could have handled while you stayed present elsewhere. This Month: Pick one repetitive task you or a team member does every day. Hand it to AI, with you holding the architect role and guiding it clearly. Watch what comes back, and what time it frees. This Quarter: Map what your team could do with ten times the capacity if the mundane work was off their plates. Decide what a six hour day would look like in your business, and start building toward it. EPISODE RESOURCES Thinking Outside Your Brain With AI by Roy Castleman, a book on holding the human architect role and using AI as a thinking tool. Climeworks, a carbon removal company referenced in the conversation. Dr Anne-Marie King: The Hidden Belief That Caps Your Business (And Keeps You Stuck)

EPISODE OVERVIEW Duration: Approximately 42 minutes Best For: Trapped entrepreneurs who have tried every tactic going and still cannot break through the ceiling they keep hitting Key Outcome: You will see why your results come from your beliefs, not your effort, and how to spot the fear that quietly runs your decisions You did everything right. The strategy was solid. You still could not make it work. There is a reason for that, and it has nothing to do with how hard you tried. THE BOTTOM LINE Dr Anne-Marie King trained as a doctor, headed for surgery on babies inside the womb, then walked away because the work did not bring her joy. What she found instead matters to you. Across a decade working with elite performers, billionaires, and stuck founders, she saw the same thing again and again. Brilliant people hit a wall that had nothing to do with effort or strategy and everything to do with invisible beliefs running the show. If you have ever taken great advice and watched it fall flat in your hands, this is why. The strategy was not the problem. You were not psychologically aligned with it. Anne-Marie calls these beliefs blocks, and she has built a way to find them and remove them. The thing is, you cannot out-work a belief that says you are not allowed more. This episode shows you how to spot the one quietly capping what you build. WHY THIS EPISODE MATTERS TO YOU You keep buying tools, courses, and tactics hoping the next one frees you up. Anne-Marie explains why any external thing only amplifies what you already believe, so the work that actually moves you happens on the inside first. If your revenue has stalled at a level it will not move past, the reason may not be your market or your offer. It may be a definition you formed years ago about what you are allowed and what you are worth. That perfectionism you call high standards is often fear wearing a smart suit. Naming it is what frees you to ship, delegate, and step back without the dread. Keep ignoring this and you carry on doing thousands of reps of the same hard work, getting the same ceiling, wondering why nothing changes while you exhaust yourself. KEY INSIGHTS YOU CAN IMPLEMENT TODAY Your results reflect your beliefs, not your effort. Effort amplifies whatever belief is already running. Spend an hour asking how you are creating your current situation and you find the lever most people never touch. The fear of getting it wrong masquerades as doing a great job for clients. Anne-Marie admits her own block is the pull to get things right, and it kept her stuck without her even noticing. Watch where you delay or polish past the point of usefulness. Notice the formula in your own head. If X happens, then I will have Y. More revenue, then freedom. Anne-Marie calls this an illusion, because you are the one putting the condition on. You can have the Y now. When something triggers you, the trigger is yours, not theirs. Roy shares his own practice of stopping, digging into why he felt that way, and tracing it back. Uncomfortable work. It is also where the unlock lives. Use your emotions as data. Before a decision, ask one honest question. Am I operating from freedom or from fear right now? Anne-Marie says the truth is usually there if you are willing to look. GOLDEN QUOTES WORTH REMEMBERING "The results and the experience that you're having in life are always without fail a reflection of your beliefs, not your effort." - Dr Anne-Marie King "It's an absolute illusion. You can always have why. It's you that's putting the condition on it." - Dr Anne-Marie King "Any external thing is an amplifier of whatever you believe and think and you're using it for and wherever you're at." - Dr Anne-Marie King "It's more important to me to live the life I love than to have the million pounds in the bank, and those two things can very much coincide." - Roy Castleman "When I deal with it properly, it unlocks something for me. So now it's exciting." - Dr Anne-Marie King QUICK NAVIGATION FOR BUSY LEADERS 00:00 - Introduction: Meeting someone whose work sits right alongside the freedom you are chasing 03:15 - From doctor to performance psychologist: why she walked away from a career she dreamed of at four 09:40 - The accidental entrepreneur: building a business while training in medicine, and the first hard lesson about cloning yourself 15:20 - The loneliness of running a business: why the deep connections disappear once you are the one holding the power 18:30 - What a block really is: the invisible beliefs setting your ceiling without you knowing 24:10 - Valuing yourself properly: the engineer with the hammer and why your hourly rate hides your worth 30:00 - Freedom versus fear: chasing money out of anxiety and why it never feels like enough 35:45 - Her own block: perfectionism dressed as high standards, and why strategy fails without psychological alignment 40:30 - Conclusion: the one question that confronts and frees you at the same time GUEST SPOTLIGHT Name: Dr Anne-Marie King Bio: Dr Anne-Marie King is a psychiatry doctor turned Performance Psychologist and founder of The Realignment. After training in medicine and psychiatry at UCL, she spent a decade working with elite performers across the UK, US, Europe, Dubai, Lagos, and Hong Kong. Across every setting she noticed the same pattern: brilliant people stuck at plateaus that had nothing to do with strategy or effort, and everything to do with invisible internal patterns distorting their execution at the exact moment it mattered most. She built The Realignment Method to solve both sides of the problem, a clinical diagnostic that finds the real constraint and a structured process that removes the belief keeping it in place. She now works with established coaches doing £10K+ per month whose revenue has plateaued, helping them get it growing again within 90 days, without pushing harder. She is based in London. Connect with Anne-Marie: Website: https://www.anne-marieking.com/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/anne-marie-king/ YOUR NEXT ACTIONS This Week: The next time something triggers you, stop before you react. Ask one question. Is this freedom or fear? Write down what comes up. You are gathering data on the beliefs running your decisions. This Month: Take one piece of business advice you have failed to act on. Look at whether you actually doubted it, feared the result, or did not feel aligned with it. The block sits there, not in the strategy. This Quarter: Pick one belief about what you are worth or allowed, the one capping your pricing or your stepping back, and work it properly. Anne-Marie says clearing one of these opens the next level. Test that for yourself. Nicky Billou: The Lie That Keeps You Trapped In Your Own Business

EPISODE OVERVIEW Duration: Approximately 42 minutes Best For: Trapped entrepreneurs who keep telling themselves they will sort the important stuff later, once things calm down Key Outcome: You will see the one lie that keeps you stuck, and you will understand why looking after yourself is the thing that lets the business grow She built nothing into a life. Then he found himself on a 130 foot tower at 4am, ready to jump. THE BOTTOM LINE You built this thing from nothing and now it runs you. Roy knows that feeling personally, and in this episode he says it out loud. He climbed a tower at his lowest, ready to end it, and three rounds of breath work got him back down. Nicky Billou knows it too. He spent twelve years gaining a pound a year and lying to himself that he could fix it any time, because he used to be a fitness trainer. The day he stopped believing that lie, he lost 58 pounds in six months. The thing is, neither story is really about towers or bodybuilding. They are about the lie you tell yourself right now, the one that says you will deal with your health, your family, your freedom once the business is sorted. This conversation is about why that day never comes on its own, and what it takes to make change happen yesterday rather than someday. WHY THIS EPISODE MATTERS TO YOU You are running on five or six hours of sleep, reaching for your phone before your feet hit the floor, telling yourself you will rest when things ease off. Nicky names the exact lie underneath that, and once you see it, you cannot unsee it. You feel guilty resting and guilty working. This episode shows why putting yourself last is not noble, it is the reason the business stays dependent on a tired version of you. You want to step away and know it still runs. The path to that starts somewhere uncomfortable. It starts with you getting better, because the business cannot outgrow the state you are in. If you keep waiting for the calm that never arrives, you keep paying with your health, your relationships, and the years you do not get back. Roy nearly paid the highest price of all. That is the cost of inaction, spelled out plainly. KEY INSIGHTS YOU CAN IMPLEMENT TODAY The reason you stay stuck in any area is a lie you are telling yourself. Nicky's was "I am a fitness trainer, I can fix this any time." Yours might be "nobody does it like I do" or "I will delegate when I find the right person." Name the lie and the spell breaks. Change happens at the level of how badly you want it. Nicky asks whether your desire is an "it would be nice" feeling or an "it has to happen yesterday" feeling. Most trapped owners sit in the first camp about their own freedom and wonder why nothing shifts. Roy will not work with someone who has no time, then no wellness, before any growth conversation. The order matters. You cannot grow a business on a body and mind that are falling apart. The breath work that got Roy off that tower is the same principle, you steady yourself first, then you take the next step. Robin Sharma told Nicky to triple his investment in his own development. He went from 75,000 to 220,000 in a year. The lesson for you is quieter, you are the asset the whole business rests on. When the asset is exhausted and never improving, the business cannot improve either. AI works when a real human stays at the centre of it. Nicky's partner used a 120 a month tool to create songs that made a room full of sceptics cry and buy. Roy's client David turned War of the Worlds thinking into a full audio project. AI did not replace them. It let them think bigger and do more, while they stayed the thought partner. GOLDEN QUOTES WORTH REMEMBERING "The reason you stay stuck, and I stay stuck, in any area of our life is because we are believing a lie that we are telling ourselves." Nicky Billou "It does not matter how much money you have. What matters is how bad do you want change." Nicky Billou, recalling his mentor Bill "People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, they will never forget how you made them feel." Nicky Billou, quoting Maya Angelou "I did three rounds of breath work at the top of this tower, the sun starting to come up, and that was just enough to get me down." Roy Castleman "Everyone needs someone to believe in them. There are moments when our self belief wobbles." Nicky Billou QUICK NAVIGATION FOR BUSY LEADERS 00:00 - Introduction: Two immigrants talk about freedom, and why it is the thing every entrepreneur is really chasing 03:30 - Nicky's escape from Iran: The Molotov cocktail through the window and the father who shaped everything 09:15 - Freedom becomes a prison: Roy on the 14 hour days, the lost relationships, and the trap that catches good owners 13:40 - The 5,000 dollar conversation: How a broke man sleeping on his mother's couch decided change had to happen yesterday 20:30 - The lie in the mirror: Why Nicky gained 50 pounds and what finally made him stop pretending 26:00 - Roy on the tower: The 4am moment and the breath work that brought him back 31:45 - AI with a human heart: The 120 dollar songs that made a room cry and a roomful of sceptics buy 38:20 - Conclusion: Why authenticity beats everything, and the one thing that moves the needle most GUEST SPOTLIGHT Name: Nicky Billou Bio: Nicky Billou is co-founder and CEO of eCircle Academy, a year-long mastermind that positions coaches, consultants, corporate trainers, and service-based entrepreneurs as authorities in their niche. Read it out loud. Notice how thin it sounds once it is on paper. This Month: Find one person who already gets it, a coach, a mentor, a peer who has walked out of the trap you are in. Start the conversation. You do not learn your way out of this alone. This Quarter: Put your own wellness on the calendar the way you put client work on it, non negotiable. Justin Dickinson: How a Contractor Escaped the 3AM Email Trap and Got His Life Back

EPISODE OVERVIEW Duration: Approximately 25 minutes Best For: Trapped entrepreneurs who built successful trades or service businesses and now feel chained to every decision, every email, every project Key Outcome: A clear framework for taking a "refining year" that lets you step back, reclaim your health, and still grow revenue without adding headcount He had a 4 year old son. He was skipping lunch, logging on at midnight, and feeling guilty every time he went surfing. THE BOTTOM LINE Justin Dickinson built Cousins Co Renovations from nothing to a multi-million dollar operation in six years. On paper, he was winning. In reality, he was drowning. The thing is, his story probably sounds familiar. You started this business for freedom. You wanted to help people, build something meaningful, maybe even have time for the things that matter. Then somewhere along the way, the business became your prison. Justin hit that wall about a year ago. Anxiety creeping in. Drinking too much. Skipping the gym. Missing moments with his son that he knew he would never get back. So he did something counterintuitive. He stopped chasing growth and took what he calls a "refining year." The result? His business runs smoother. His team is happier. He is present for bedtime. And he is on track to scale from 3 to 5 million with the same team of six, using AI to eliminate the work that was slowly killing him. WHY THIS EPISODE MATTERS TO YOU You will discover why pausing growth to refine your systems actually accelerates your freedom, and what happens when you keep pushing without stopping You will learn the exact mindset shift that allowed Justin to stop feeling guilty about taking time for surfing, skiing, and his son, because that guilt is costing you more than you realise You will understand how a small trades business is using AI to handle transcriptions, estimates, and material lists, freeing up hours every week without adding complexity You will hear the hidden cost of being the bottleneck, and why your team, your family, and your health are paying the price right now KEY INSIGHTS YOU CAN IMPLEMENT TODAY The Refining Year Strategy: Justin hit 1.5 to 2 million and instead of pushing harder, he paused. He spent a full year putting processes in place and stepping back to see the whole picture. The consequence? The next two years became "more friendly to the owners, to our project managers, to all management." If you keep sprinting without refining, you will burn out before you ever reach freedom. Self Care Is Business Strategy: Justin noticed something powerful. When he would sneak out for a surf or a ski day, he would feel guilty on the drive there. On the drive back, every problem that seemed impossible suddenly had an obvious answer. "All of a sudden I have all those answers because I took the time to give myself a break." Your best business thinking happens when you step away. That is not a luxury. That is a competitive advantage. The Loneliness Solution: As a trapped entrepreneur, you cannot talk to your staff about the hard things. You have told your wife about the business so many times her eyes glaze over. Your friends are tired of hearing it. Justin started building a community of other small business owners in Maine, people who actually understand. He also started talking to AI in a therapeutic sense, using it to reframe his thinking. You do not have to carry this alone. AI For Trades Without The Overwhelm: Justin is not using AI to replace his team. He is using it to transcribe walkthroughs and phone calls so he can be fully present with clients instead of scribbling notes. He is exploring tools that take drawings and generate full material lists. He is automating scope of work tracking to catch change orders automatically. The goal is simple. Go from 3 to 5 million with the same 5 or 6 people. The 70/30 Work Split: Justin realised the part he loves, the walkthroughs, meeting clients, seeing a new home for the first time, that is the human work AI can never replace. The repetitive stuff that drains him, the estimates, the material lists, the admin, that is where AI belongs. Figure out your 70/30 split and protect the work that lights you up. GOLDEN QUOTES WORTH REMEMBERING "On that drive back after I gave myself that self love, that self care, all those questions I had on the way there were like, oh, that's so simple. Why was I even contemplating this?" - Justin Dickinson "I needed to make a change for my health. For a few months I couldn't quite get there. I'd get stuck back at the computer, I would skip lunch, and I have a 4 year old son. I'm not going to get this time back." - Justin Dickinson "We hit 1.5 to 2 million and said, let's take a second and refine for a year. Let's not just keep going, driving ourselves crazy, getting over our head." - Justin Dickinson "The more you learn, the less you know. Always learning, always improving, always humble on what you do know." - Justin Dickinson "If I reach my goal, great. If I don't and go a completely different way, even better. That just allows me to not dwell on things as much and enjoy the present, because that's really all we got." - Justin Dickinson QUICK NAVIGATION FOR BUSY LEADERS 00:00 - Introduction: Why surfing helps trapped entrepreneurs think clearly 02:15 - The Moment of Unemployability: When Justin realised he could never go back to a job 04:30 - Birthing a Business: The brutal first years and why it feels like raising a baby 06:45 - The Refining Year: Why Justin paused at 2 million instead of pushing to 3 09:20 - Health Wake Up Call: Anxiety, drinking, skipping the gym, and missing moments with his son 12:00 - The Self Care Discovery: What Justin learned on the drive back from surfing 14:30 - The 70% Guilt Problem: Why business owners feel guilty about everything and how to break free 16:45 - Loneliness as an Entrepreneur: Building a community when nobody understands 18:30 - AI for Trades: Transcriptions, material lists, and estimates without adding staff 21:00 - The 5 Million Vision: Scaling revenue without scaling headcount 23:15 - Tangible Pride: Driving around town showing his son the kitchens they built 25:00 - Conclusion: Next steps and where to connect with Justin GUEST SPOTLIGHT Name: Justin Dickinson Bio: Justin is a problem solver, entrepreneur, and co-founder of Cousins Co Renovations in Portland, Maine. Over six years, he and his cousin built a high-end renovation company approaching 3 million in revenue. Justin specialises in helping clients transform their homes while navigating the challenge every trapped entrepreneur faces, how to grow without losing yourself in the process. Connect with Justin: Website: cousinscomaine.com Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/cousins.co.maine/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/cousinscomaine/ YOUR NEXT ACTIONS This Week: Identify three tasks you do every day that drain your energy. Write them down. These are your first candidates for AI automation or delegation. Notice what happens to your thinking when you imagine not doing them. This Month: Schedule one "refining day" where you step completely away from operations. Go surfing, skiing, walking, whatever clears your head. On the drive back, record voice notes about the solutions that appear. Your best ideas are waiting on the other side of guilt. This Quarter: Map out your own refining year. What processes need documenting? What decisions could others make? What would your business look like if you only did the work you love, the client walkthroughs, the creative parts, the human connection? Build toward that vision. Lloyd Pilapil: How a Solo Founder Built a SaaS Platform in Weeks Using AI as Your Workforce

EPISODE OVERVIEW Duration: Approximately 25 minutes Best For: Trapped entrepreneurs who feel like they have to do everything themselves because nobody else can do it properly Key Outcome: Understand how to use AI as a genuine workforce multiplier so you can build, scale, and step back from the daily grind He built a SaaS platform with 70 paying users. He did it alone. In weeks, not years. THE BOTTOM LINE You have spent years building something real. You know every process, every client quirk, every system that keeps the lights on. And that knowledge has become your prison. You cannot step away because nobody else knows what you know. You cannot delegate because it takes longer to explain than to just do it yourself. You are exhausted, your health is slipping, and somewhere along the way the freedom you were building towards became a fantasy. Lloyd Pilapil spent 20 years in design and engineering at companies like Salesforce. Then he started using AI differently. Not as a chatbot that answers questions. As a workforce. In three months, he built a platform from scratch, onboarded 70 users, and created a business that runs while he sleeps. The thing is, he did not hire a team. He built systems where AI handles the repeatable work and he stays the architect. This episode is the clearest explanation I have heard of how trapped entrepreneurs can finally build something that does not require them to be present for every decision. WHY THIS EPISODE MATTERS TO YOU Your business currently requires you for every significant decision, and this episode shows you how to change that using AI as a genuine workforce, not just a fancy search engine You will learn the exact approach Lloyd uses to complete projects in weeks that used to take six months, freeing you to focus on strategy instead of execution Lloyd explains how he maintains control while delegating to AI, addressing your fear of letting go without losing quality The cost of waiting another six months to figure this out is another six months of being the bottleneck while competitors move faster KEY INSIGHTS YOU CAN IMPLEMENT TODAY You must stay the boss of the AI. Lloyd is direct about this. AI is a mediator, not a replacement for your thinking. Because you treat AI as a collaborator rather than a magic button, you maintain quality control while multiplying your output. The trapped entrepreneur who tries to hand everything over will drift. The one who architects the process and keeps human oversight at the start and end will scale. AI handles repeatable tasks so you can focus on strategic work. Lloyd built observability layers, memory systems, and automated workflows. The thing is, he did not do this to be clever. He did it because he was tired of manually solving the same problems for 70 users. Because these systems now exist, his platform self-heals and only asks for human approval before sending client communications. What used to consume his days now takes minutes. The speed of building has fundamentally changed. A truck and trace project took Lloyd six months two years ago with early AI assistance. Today he estimates the same project would take one month or less. Because the tools have improved and his understanding has deepened, what used to be impossible for a solo founder is now achievable in weeks. This is not about working harder. This is about building smarter. State management solves the context problem. AI forgets the middle of conversations after about six exchanges. Lloyd fixed this by connecting external databases, saving memory to local machines, and creating systems where AI can recall what it was doing before he closed the session. Because he solved this problem, his development work flows continuously rather than starting over constantly. Human touch remains essential at critical moments. Lloyd still reviews every article before publishing. He still does final touches on branding work. He uses AI for concept generation and research, then applies human judgement for the finish. Because he bookends every process with human oversight, quality stays high while speed increases dramatically. GOLDEN QUOTES WORTH REMEMBERING "AI is just a mediator. We are still the one who decides. We are still the one who tell AI what to do." - Lloyd Pilapil "AI can do the repeatable things. The strategic thinking, the innovation, the human side, it's always human." - Lloyd Pilapil "The Right questions. Because when for example the agent, you didn't prompt the correct question, sometimes it misinterprets, it drifts." - Lloyd Pilapil "What I was doing myself was the same as his 14 people were doing." - Roy Castleman, on comparing his AI-assisted output to a 14-person marketing team "You can do 10 times more work when you go to your staff member and say, I want to work out exactly what it is you do so we can get AI to help you." - Roy Castleman QUICK NAVIGATION FOR BUSY LEADERS 00:00 - Introduction: Meeting Lloyd and his LLM visibility platform that AI recommended 02:30 - The mediator mindset: Why AI works when you keep ownership of the process 05:45 - Context windows and memory: Solving the problem of AI forgetting your project midway 09:15 - Building a SaaS platform solo: How Lloyd went from zero to 70 users in three months 12:40 - Speed transformation: Projects that took six months now take one month or less 16:20 - Self-healing systems: How observability layers let you step back from daily firefighting 19:30 - The 10x output reality: One person with AI matching 14-person teams 22:45 - Conclusion: Partnership opportunities and the future of solo entrepreneurship with AI GUEST SPOTLIGHT Name: Lloyd Pilapil Bio: Lloyd is an AI Product Architect and founder of Pixelmojo. Because you start with something small, you build confidence without risking critical processes. This Month: Connect your project notes or task database to an AI assistant so it has context about your work. Because AI can access your existing systems, it stops forgetting what you are building and becomes genuinely useful. This Quarter: Map your entire business workflow and identify where human oversight is essential versus where AI can handle execution. Because you create this architecture now, you build toward a business that runs without you in the room. Rich Potter: How Franchising Gives Trapped Entrepreneurs a Proven Path to Freedom

EPISODE OVERVIEW Duration: Approximately 32 minutes Best For: Trapped entrepreneurs who want proven systems and support rather than figuring everything out alone Key Outcome: Understanding whether franchising, either buying one or turning your business into one, could be your fastest path to freedom He started a side business because his corporate job terrified him. Twelve years later, he's built, scaled, and exited multiple businesses while actually being present for his family. THE BOTTOM LINE You built your business to create freedom. Instead, you've created a prison where you're the only one who knows how everything works. Rich Potter understands this trap because he lived it. After more than a decade building businesses from scratch, he discovered something that changed everything. Franchising, whether buying into a proven model or turning your successful business into one, offers trapped entrepreneurs something invaluable: systems that actually work without you. This episode reveals why 2% of people ever start a business, why most of those fail in the first year, and how franchise systems dramatically improve those odds. The thing is, Rich isn't selling you on any specific franchise. He's showing you a path that comes with built-in support, proven playbooks, and a community of people doing exactly what you're doing. If you've been telling yourself you'll figure it out eventually while your health slips and your family waits, this conversation might change how you think about your next move. WHY THIS EPISODE MATTERS TO YOU You'll discover how franchise systems can give you operational freedom within months instead of years of trial and error You'll understand exactly what it takes to turn your successful business into a franchise, and whether the investment makes sense You'll learn how to choose a business model that actually fits your lifestyle goals, not one that creates another trap You'll recognise the cost of continuing to build everything yourself when proven systems already exist KEY INSIGHTS YOU CAN IMPLEMENT TODAY The freedom test Rich uses: Can you take three months off and your business still runs? If not, you're not building wealth, you're building a job that owns you. This single question reveals whether you've created a business or a prison. Lifestyle alignment before opportunity: Rich never shows clients a franchise until he understands their desired lifestyle. Do you want weekends free? Do you prefer managing systems over selling? Getting this wrong leads to burnout regardless of how profitable the business becomes. The AI protection reality: Desk jobs are disappearing. The thing is, trades and hands-on services remain protected. That Tesla robot isn't showing up to fix your plumbing anytime soon. Business owners who understand this shift will weather the storm better than those chasing the next digital trend. Bus-proofing your business: If you got hit by a bus tomorrow and ended up in hospital for three months, would your business survive? This isn't morbid thinking, it's the exact test that determines whether you own a business or whether your business owns you. The 70% rule for entrepreneurs: Most business owners spend 70% of their time on work they hate and only 30% on work that energises them. AI and automation should flip this ratio, not just pile more tasks onto an already exhausted owner. GOLDEN QUOTES WORTH REMEMBERING "I never miss anything important for my kids. I'm always there for it, which is the most important part." - Rich Potter "Running businesses is not easy. And that burnout's real." - Rich Potter "Business owners deserve to live the life they love. We get into this for freedom, we end up in a prison of our own making." - Roy Castleman "If I get hit by a bus tomorrow and I end up in the hospital for three months, will my business still be around when I get out?" - Rich Potter "Those managers, they're going to quit, they're going to leave, they're not going to care as much as an owner." - Rich Potter QUICK NAVIGATION FOR BUSY LEADERS 00:00 - Introduction: From corporate fear to entrepreneurial freedom 03:15 - The side hustle origin story: Why Rich started with a photo booth business 07:42 - Selling the event business: When your lifestyle no longer fits your business model 11:30 - The loneliness of entrepreneurship: Why business owners struggle to connect 15:18 - AI and the future of trades: Which businesses will survive the automation wave 19:45 - Managing overwhelm: Morning routines and tying wellness to profit 23:20 - Creating a franchise: Systems, costs, and timeline explained 27:35 - The broker advantage: Why going it alone slows your growth 30:45 - Building legacy businesses: Teaching entrepreneurship to the next generation GUEST SPOTLIGHT Name: Rich Potter Bio: Rich Potter is a multi-business owner and franchise consultant who helps burned out executives and veterans transition from corporate careers into structured business ownership. Eric Robinson: From Baptist Pastor to FBI Agent, What 24 Years Hunting Criminals Taught Me About Making Bold Decisions

EPISODE OVERVIEW Duration: Approximately 35 minutes Best For: Trapped entrepreneurs who feel stuck in a role they once loved, knowing something needs to change yet paralysed by fear of making the wrong move Key Outcome: Listeners will understand why they overestimate the harm of making a bold decision and underestimate their own resilience, giving them the clarity to finally take action He was a pastor carrying everyone else's burdens. Then his body gave him stress headaches every single day for two years. THE BOTTOM LINE You know that feeling. The business you built to serve people has become the thing that owns you. You wake up exhausted, answer emails before sunrise, and tell yourself you cannot possibly step away because everyone depends on you. Eric Robinson lived that exact trap. As a Baptist pastor, he carried the weight of his congregation until his body screamed for him to stop. The thing is, when he finally made the terrifying leap to join the FBI at 32, something remarkable happened. The headaches vanished. Not because the FBI was easier. He spent 15 years on SWAT, investigated terrorists, and witnessed humanity at its worst. They vanished because he stopped being the bottleneck, stopped carrying burdens alone, and discovered what happens when you finally trust yourself to make the bold move you have been putting off. Over 24 years, Eric earned two Attorney General Awards, helped bring justice to torture victims, and stopped a plot to kill a federal judge. His story reveals a truth trapped entrepreneurs desperately need to hear. You are more resilient than you believe, and the decision you keep delaying is costing you more than making the wrong choice ever could. WHY THIS EPISODE MATTERS TO YOU The longer you stay trapped in indecision, the more your health, relationships, and freedom slip away. Eric's daily headaches were his body's warning. What is yours? You will discover why the fear of making the wrong choice is actually more damaging than any mistake you could make. Because wrong choices can be corrected. Paralysis cannot. Learn how FBI agents handle extreme stress through team support and shared stories, a model you can apply to escape the isolation that comes with running everything yourself. If you keep delaying the changes you know you need to make, you will still be having this same conversation with yourself a year from now. Only more exhausted. KEY INSIGHTS YOU CAN IMPLEMENT TODAY Your body is keeping score. Eric had stress headaches every single day for two years because he carried everyone's problems alone. The moment he made his decision, they stopped. Your physical symptoms are data. What is your body telling you about the trap you are in? Teams absorb what individuals cannot. In ministry, Eric felt he could not show weakness. In the FBI, agents took care of each other through shared stories and survivor humour. The trapped entrepreneur who insists on handling everything alone is not strong. They are stuck. Find your team. Vulnerability opens doors that authority cannot. Whether interviewing criminals or working with informants, Eric discovered that authenticity and openness created connection that force never could. The same applies to your team, your clients, and your family. Stop performing. Start connecting. You overestimate harm and underestimate resilience. This was Eric's parting wisdom and it cuts to the heart of why you remain trapped. You imagine catastrophe if you step back, delegate, or make a bold change. That said, you have survived everything life has thrown at you so far. You are, as Eric says, undefeated. Movement beats perfection. A legitimately wrong decision still moves you forward. You course correct and rebuild. Paralysis offers no such option. The entrepreneurs who escape the trap are not the ones who make perfect choices. They are the ones who make choices. GOLDEN QUOTES WORTH REMEMBERING "I think that human beings overestimate the harm that will be done if they choose wrong. We underestimate our resilience, the ability to snap back if something bad happens to us." - Eric Robinson "I'm undefeated. I have gotten through all the things. Anything bad has happened, I'm here. Any stupid decision I made, I'm still here. So make those stupid decisions. Because movement is better than no movement." - Eric Robinson "The FBI doesn't give you anything for stress. What I experienced is that agents take care of each other. We would tell stories recounting harrowing experiences. And then they were survivor stories." - Eric Robinson "You can keep the human in, elevate the human to be able to do more human, and let the AI do the stuff that it doesn't need to do. Then you can be powerful." - Roy Castleman "I didn't feel like I could give an image of I'm not perfect, I'm not holding it together. And so much of what you're describing, I think yeah, that was me." - Eric Robinson on the isolation of leadership QUICK NAVIGATION FOR BUSY LEADERS 00:00 - Introduction: Meet the man who left the pulpit for the FBI 03:15 - The 24 Year Journey: Why Eric never lost his fascination with FBI work 05:40 - From Pastor to Agent: What drove the career change at 32 08:20 - The Headache Revelation: How stress manifests when you carry everyone's burdens 11:45 - Attorney General Award Cases: Justice for torture victims in Chicago 15:30 - Stopping a Terrorist Plot: The judge assassination attempt 20:15 - Different Stressors: Why FBI trauma was easier than pastoral care 23:40 - How Teams Handle Stress: The power of shared stories and survivor humour 27:00 - AI and Human Connection: Why technology cannot replace authentic communication 30:20 - Vulnerability in Leadership: Drawing out truth through openness 33:45 - Writing the Book: Using conversation to unlock buried stories 36:15 - The Resilience Principle: Why you overestimate harm and underestimate your ability to recover GUEST SPOTLIGHT Name: Eric Robinson Bio: Eric Robinson spent 12 years in Christian ministry before making the bold leap to join the FBI at age 32, where he served for 24 years. David Neira: How to Build an Outside Brain That Thinks While You Sleep

EPISODE OVERVIEW Duration: Approximately 32 minutes Best For: Trapped entrepreneurs who store everything in their heads and wake up exhausted trying to remember it all Key Outcome: You will understand how to create a personal knowledge system that captures your ideas, connects to AI, and lets you stop being the only person who knows how everything works He had 20 brilliant ideas in a single day. Then he spent the next month wondering where he wrote them down. THE BOTTOM LINE You built your business by being the smartest person in the room. Knowing every detail. Remembering every client conversation. Holding the whole operation in your head. That served you well for years. Now it is crushing you. Every email, every idea, every promise you made to follow up on something, it all lives in your brain. And your brain is full. David Neira is a Notion consultant from Spain who helps trapped entrepreneurs stop drowning in information silos. In this conversation, he and Roy dig into something that sounds technical but is actually deeply human: building an outside brain. A place where your ideas live so they do not have to live in your head. David works with business owners who spend their days jumping from app to app, searching for information they know they stored somewhere. His approach is simple. Consolidate everything into one system, connect it to AI, and suddenly you wake up with room for new thoughts instead of scrambling to remember the old ones. WHY THIS EPISODE MATTERS TO YOU You will discover how to stop waking up at 3am trying to remember that brilliant idea you had last Tuesday, and actually capture it somewhere useful You will learn why giving AI full control creates systems built for robots, not for you, and how to stay the architect of your business You will understand how to use AI as your thinking partner without losing your role as the thought leader You will see the cost of continuing to store everything in your head: exhaustion, overwhelm, and the slow realisation that you have become the bottleneck KEY INSIGHTS YOU CAN IMPLEMENT TODAY Start Embarrassingly Small David recommends beginning with something tiny. A grocery list. A book you are reading. Not your entire business operating system. When you build that first simple database and actually use it, you build the muscle memory for bigger things. The consequence? You stop feeling overwhelmed by the technology and start trusting it with real problems. You Must Remain the Architect When you tell AI to build you a system without constraints, it creates something for itself, not for you. One client got a system with 60 properties per database. Absolutely unusable for someone who was previously running their business through WhatsApp and phone calls. The thing is, you need to bring the vision and the guardrails. AI does the heavy lifting. AI Is a 60% Tool, and That Is Perfect David and Roy agree that AI does about 60% of the job. That said, that 60% is the stuff that takes you 80% of your time. The boring parts. The repetitive parts. The things you do not love doing. This frees you to focus on what only you can do: building connections, understanding problems, being vulnerable and human. Your Brain Has a Storage Limit Every time you have an idea and try to remember it later, you are using mental bandwidth that could go toward something better. David describes having 15 to 20 ideas on an inspired day, then going completely dry for weeks. Now those ideas go straight into Notion. Tagged. Titled. Ready for the AI to use later. Super relieving, he calls it. Room for new thoughts. Hire AI as Your Who The book Who Not How teaches entrepreneurs to find the right people for each task. AI has become a massive who. Roy describes needing SEO, GEO, UX, and CRO expertise. Rather than hiring four expensive specialists, he created databases for each discipline and asked AI to find the best systems used by the best people in the world. The expertise lives outside his brain now. GOLDEN QUOTES WORTH REMEMBERING "If you give Claude full freedom, Claude will create a system for Claude, not for you." David Neira "Every time I have an idea, I'm like okay, just pause here. Go to Notion, find this workspace for me, help me build a page and build out a database. That's literally allowed me to get all the stuff in my head out of my head. Super relieving." Roy Castleman "I'm the thought leader, the thought partner. I like to think of AI as my thinking partner." David Neira "AI is a 60% tool. It can do 60% of the job. That said, that 60% of the job is the one that takes us 80% of the time." Roy Castleman "You don't have this pressure to remember everything. You just store this information the moment you spot it in your Notion." David Neira QUICK NAVIGATION FOR BUSY LEADERS 00:00 - Introduction: Meet David Neira, Notion consultant from Spain 02:30 - What Notion actually is: databases made accessible for non-technical business owners 05:45 - The danger of giving AI full control: why Claude creates systems for Claude 09:20 - Starting small: why your grocery list might be the perfect first database 13:40 - The outside brain concept: getting ideas out of your head and into a system 18:15 - Story banking: how Roy stores and organises 35 business stories for his book 22:30 - AI as your thinking partner: revealing blind spots without losing thought leadership 26:45 - The 60% tool: understanding what AI does well and what only humans can do 29:30 - Common mistakes: why 60 properties per database destroys usability 31:00 - Conclusion: connecting with David and implementing your first outside brain GUEST SPOTLIGHT Name: David Neira Bio: David is a Notion consultant based in Galicia, Spain, helping businesses build systems that consolidate scattered information into one usable workspace. He specialises in working with entrepreneurs who are drowning in apps and struggling to find what they need when they need it. His approach focuses on simplicity over complexity, building systems that humans can actually use. Connect with David: Website: https://www.notiostore.com/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/chape/ YOUR NEXT ACTIONS This Week: Choose one small area of your life, your reading list, your meeting notes, your client follow-ups, and build a simple Notion database for it. Use it for seven days. Notice how it feels to stop trying to remember. This Month: Connect your Notion to Claude or another AI tool. Start by asking it to help you organise what you have already captured. Let it suggest properties and structure, but you decide what stays and what goes. This Quarter: Build your first true outside brain for one area of your business. Your sales pipeline. Your content ideas. Your project management. Catheryne Shuman: The Hidden Structure That Sets Trapped Entrepreneurs Free

EPISODE OVERVIEW Duration: Approximately 35 minutes Best For: Trapped entrepreneurs who know they need systems but feel overwhelmed by complexity Key Outcome: Understand how the right business structure eliminates the mental load keeping you chained to your company She spent a decade training opera singers to perform at the highest level. Then she discovered something that would change how business owners escape their own companies. THE BOTTOM LINE You built this company to have freedom. Now you are up before dawn answering emails, your health is slipping, and you cannot remember the last time you were fully present with your family. The thing is, massive corporations figured out the secret decades ago. They have structure, systems, and clarity that lets them scale without the founder doing everything. Catheryne Shuman has spent years distilling that corporate skeleton down to its barest bones, creating something any trapped entrepreneur can implement. Her work with the BOS UP methodology has helped business owners go from 14 hour days to five hours a week. That is not a typo. Structure creates freedom. And once you understand the skeleton that holds a business together, you will finally see how to step away and know everything still runs. WHY THIS EPISODE MATTERS TO YOU You will discover how to stop wearing every hat in your business, which means you can finally focus on what you actually do well Learn the exact system that took Roy from 14 hour days, seven days a week, to five hours weekly across two companies Understand why 99.1% of London businesses are under 10 people, and how that changes your approach to scaling See the real cost of not having structure: your health, your relationships, and the freedom you started this business to create KEY INSIGHTS YOU CAN IMPLEMENT TODAY The skeleton principle changes everything. Every business, from solo entrepreneur to massive corporation, needs the same fundamental structure. When you can see that skeleton clearly, you stop reinventing the wheel. You stop exhausting yourself trying to figure out what to do next. The framework already exists. You just need someone to show you the bones. Trust is the foundation of true delegation. Catheryne describes her working relationship with Scott Abbott as one built on trust. He lets her do what she does well with full creativity. When you trust your people to deliver, you free up brain space for the work only you can do. When you micromanage, you remain the bottleneck forever. You cannot read the label from inside the jar. Roy spent quarter of a million pounds on Facebook to make 30,000 more. He worked 14 hour days in two companies because he could not see his own mistakes. Every trapped entrepreneur needs someone on the outside who can call them out and show them the shortcuts others have already paid for. AI multiplies your output, but only if you remain the architect. Catheryne has done more in six months with AI than she could have done in five years without it. The secret is clear communication, giving the AI a role, being specific about your intentions. Treat it like a team member who needs proper briefing, not a magic button. Structure creates freedom in every area of life. Once you have systems in place for your work and even for your home, you free up that space in your brain. That is when the two hour dog walks happen. That is when you actually take holidays. That is when you become present with your family again. GOLDEN QUOTES WORTH REMEMBERING "Structure creates freedom." - Catheryne Shuman "You can't read the label from inside the jar." - Roy Castleman "I've done more in the last six months than I think without AI, I could have done in five years." - Catheryne Shuman "As a solo entrepreneur, you have to do everything. And so you have to partition your brain into different sections." - Catheryne Shuman "We only have the one life. Do what you love doing." - Catheryne Shuman QUICK NAVIGATION FOR BUSY LEADERS 00:00 - Introduction: Meet Catheryne Shuman, the architect behind BOS UP's curriculum 02:30 - The Power of Trust: How real delegation transformed the company's growth 05:15 - From Opera Singer to Business Educator: The unexpected path to helping entrepreneurs 09:45 - The Teaching Revelation: Why watching students succeed became more fulfilling than performing 12:30 - The Entrepreneur's Learning Addiction: When constant learning becomes a trap 16:00 - Small Business Impact: Why 99.1% of London companies are under 10 people 19:20 - The Corporate Skeleton: Distilling enterprise systems for any size business 22:45 - Wearing Every Hat: The solo entrepreneur's biggest challenge 26:00 - AI Reality Check: The gap between what is possible and what people actually do 30:15 - Communication Clarity: What AI teaches us about giving instructions 33:00 - Structure Creates Freedom: The one insight that changes everything GUEST SPOTLIGHT Name: Catheryne Shuman Bio: Catheryne is an expert educator and instructional designer who serves as the lead architect of the BOS UP curriculum. Jaden Sterling: He Made a Million by 29, Then Lost It All. Here's What He Learned About Real Wealth

EPISODE OVERVIEW Duration: Approximately 25 minutes Best For: Trapped entrepreneurs who have built something successful and now wonder if their money is actually working for them, or just sitting there while they work themselves into the ground Key Outcome: A clearer understanding of how to make your capital work independently of your time, so you can step back from the daily grind without watching your wealth stagnate He was 29, had over a million in his account, and walked into his boss's office to quit. They offered him more money. He said it wasn't about the money. THE BOTTOM LINE You built your business from nothing. You worked the long hours. You sacrificed the weekends, the holidays, the time with people who matter. And somewhere along the way, you became wealthy on paper. The thing is, your money just sits there. You're too busy running the business to think about investing properly. Too overwhelmed by the noise of crypto, AI, market chaos. Too burnt out to add another thing to your plate. Jaden Sterling knows that feeling. He made his first million by 29, built a twelve and a half million dollar real estate portfolio, then watched it all unravel in 2008 when the banks came calling. That painful education brought him full circle to what actually works: individual stocks, simple systems, and the discipline to let your money compound while you focus on getting your life back. For the last eight years, he's helped over 5,000 members find winning stocks in two clicks or less. Not because investing needs to be complicated. Because trapped entrepreneurs need simplicity that actually works. WHY THIS EPISODE MATTERS TO YOU Your money should be building wealth while you sleep, not sitting idle because you're too exhausted to think about it. This solves the "I know I should be investing properly, I just don't have the mental bandwidth" problem that costs you compound growth every year you delay. Jaden's journey from corporate ladder to losing everything to rebuilding shows you what happens when you treat learning as an investment, not an expense. The cost of inaction is another decade of trading your health and relationships for money that isn't even growing the way it could. KEY INSIGHTS YOU CAN IMPLEMENT TODAY The moment you realise you're making someone else richer instead of yourself, everything changes. Jaden was a regional vice president at Citigroup, being paid well, and still felt held back. That inner knowing that there's something more, that's not dissatisfaction. That's your signal. The consequence of ignoring it is another five years of the same exhaustion. Pay for expertise or pay with pain, there is no third option. Jaden spent $10,000 on a one hour consultation with a real estate expert. She told him to do a lot line adjustment, carve out a parking lot, separate a property. That single insight made him an extra million dollars. The trapped entrepreneur who refuses to invest in coaching or consultants isn't saving money. They're paying the underground in wasted years and costly mistakes. Simple systems beat complex strategies every time. Jaden turned $70,000 into over a million by buying one stock and adding to it monthly. Dollar cost averaging. Nothing fancy. Nothing overwhelming. Just consistency. What happens because of this approach: you stop trying to time markets, you stop the analysis paralysis, you actually build wealth. AI is a 60% tool, not a 90% solution. The hype says AI does everything. The reality is different. It forgets context after five or six prompts. It hallucinates Saturday options contracts that don't exist. The trap is thinking AI will solve your problems. The freedom is using it as a thinking partner while you remain the strategist. Your money should work as hard as you do. Most trapped entrepreneurs have capital sitting in accounts, earning nothing meaningful, because they're too busy working in the business to work on their wealth. Individual stocks, chosen with a clear system, can outperform packaged products without requiring you to become a day trader. GOLDEN QUOTES WORTH REMEMBERING "It wasn't about the money. It was about knowing that there was something more inside me that wanted to express itself. And the only way to do that was to quit my job." , Jaden Sterling "If the coach has earned their weight in gold with asking the right questions which allowing you to open your mind to another avenue or possibility." , Jaden Sterling "I paid consultants $10,000 for one hour. Rick Tracewell: Why Your Business Runs You (And How to Finally Escape the Trap)

EPISODE OVERVIEW Duration: Approximately 25 minutes Best For: Trapped entrepreneurs who keep themselves busy doing comfortable tasks whilst avoiding the work that would actually set them free Key Outcome: Listeners will recognise the specific ways they have trapped themselves in their business and have a clear path to building something that runs without them He built his business for freedom. Then he noticed he had simply created a more sophisticated prison. THE BOTTOM LINE You know that feeling. You are up early, answering emails before the family wakes. You tell yourself you are being productive. The thing is, deep down you know you are avoiding something bigger. You have created what Rick Tracewell calls the uncomfortable comfort zone, that strange place where things are not falling apart, they are just not moving forward either. It feels stressful, familiar, and maddeningly easy to normalise. Rick spent years as a solo business owner doing what most trapped entrepreneurs do, working long hours, staying busy, being responsible, and quietly wondering why things still were not improving. His book names what is actually happening for so many business owners. Once you see it, you cannot unsee it. And that awareness is where real progress starts. WHY THIS EPISODE MATTERS TO YOU You will finally have a name for why you feel stuck even though you are working harder than ever You will understand why your business would stop if you stepped away for two weeks, and what that really means You will discover the difference between having a business and having created a job for yourself You will see the real cost of avoiding this conversation, more years lost to busyness instead of progress KEY INSIGHTS YOU CAN IMPLEMENT TODAY The uncomfortable comfort zone exists because you know what to expect by doing what you know best. You stay busy with website tweaks, social media posts, cleaning the office, anything to avoid the harder work. Once you recognise this pattern, you cannot go back to pretending it is not there. Most solopreneurs cannot answer this question honestly. If you had to step away from your business for two weeks, what happens? If the answer is everything stops, you have not built a business. You have created a job for yourself. This realisation changes everything about how you structure your days. The ego trap keeps you stuck. There is pride in being the business owner. That same pride makes it hard to admit there are areas where you need help. The trapped entrepreneur who cannot ask for help stays trapped longer. AI and new technology are just tools. They are the next thing, like the printing press was, like television was. The business owners who treat them as magic buttons stay disappointed. The ones who learn to use them properly get their time back. If you set up your business so someone could walk in and learn it, or someone you could train to do it, you change your life. You can finally get to the gym. You can take time for family. You stop being the bottleneck. GOLDEN QUOTES WORTH REMEMBERING "If you had to step away from your business for two weeks and it stops, you don't have a business. You've created a job for yourself." - Rick Tracewell "The uncomfortable comfort zone is when deep down you know something's wrong, you know you need to fix it, and you just don't know where to start." - Rick Tracewell "If you read this book and find things you recognise in yourself, it's like somebody pointing at your feet saying you stepped in dog crap. Hard to ignore that." - Rick Tracewell "You can't see the label from inside the jar." - Roy Castleman "There's nobody to walk up behind you and put their hand on your shoulder and say, it's great that you're busy, but shouldn't you be working on this other thing?" - Rick Tracewell QUICK NAVIGATION FOR BUSY LEADERS 00:00 - Introduction: Meeting Rick and setting the stage for trapped entrepreneurs 02:30 - The creative journey: How Rick discovered he was unemployable and embraced it 05:15 - The 1% reality: Why entrepreneurs are a different breed who see problems and solutions 08:45 - The lonely road: Why business ownership isolates you from everyone who does not understand 11:20 - AI demystified: Treating new technology as a tool rather than a magic solution 14:00 - The uncomfortable comfort zone: Naming what keeps business owners stuck 17:30 - The two week test: Would your business survive without you, and what that reveals 21:00 - Building for freedom: How to structure your business so someone else could run it 24:00 - Conclusion: Where to find Rick and take your first step out of the trap GUEST SPOTLIGHT Name: Rick Tracewell Bio: Rick is a marketing consultant and author of The Uncomfortable Comfort Zone, a book born from years of watching himself and his clients stay stuck in patterns they could not name. He works with solopreneurs and small business owners on marketing strategy, branding, and the mindset shifts needed to stop working in the business and start working on it. Connect with Rick: Website: https://UCZBook.com YOUR NEXT ACTIONS This Week: Take the two week test honestly. Write down exactly what would happen to your business if you disappeared for a fortnight. No sugarcoating. This awareness is your starting point. This Month: Identify the three tasks you do regularly that keep you busy but comfortable. These are your avoidance patterns. Russell Van Brocklen: How a Dyslexic Researcher Cracked the Code to Crystal Clear Messaging

EPISODE OVERVIEW Duration: Approximately 22 minutes Best For: Trapped entrepreneurs who know their business is valuable, yet struggle to communicate that value clearly to customers, staff, and the market Key Outcome: A repeatable system to identify your unique message and communicate it with laser precision, using AI as your grunt work partner He built a research methodology so effective that struggling students leaped seven grade levels in a single school year. Now he teaches business owners the same principle. THE BOTTOM LINE You built something valuable. You know you did. The thing is, every time you try to explain what makes you different, the words come out muddled. Your website sounds like everyone else's. Your team can't articulate your vision. And you're stuck doing all the communication yourself because nobody gets it quite right. Russell Van Brocklen understands messy human struggle. As someone who entered college with a first grade reading and writing level, he had to develop systems where others could wing it. His New York State Senate funded research produced results that shocked academics. Highly motivated students moved from middle school writing to graduate level work in one school year. Every single one graduated university. The same methodology that transformed struggling students now helps trapped entrepreneurs cut through the noise. Russell's word analysis system, combined with strategic AI use, gives you a process to finally say exactly what's in your head. Not corporate jargon. Not what your competitors are saying. Your message. The one that makes the right customers stop scrolling and start listening. WHY THIS EPISODE MATTERS TO YOU You'll stop wasting hours crafting messages that sound like everyone else, because you'll have a system that identifies what genuinely makes you different You'll finally delegate communication tasks with confidence, knowing your team has the exact words and definitions to use You'll use AI as a true partner instead of another source of overwhelm, letting it handle the grunt work while you make the decisions You'll stop being the only person who can explain your business properly, which means you can actually step away without everything falling apart KEY INSIGHTS YOU CAN IMPLEMENT TODAY AI taught Russell what it can teach you. When you communicate poorly with AI and get rubbish back, that's a mirror. You're likely being just as unclear with your staff, your customers, your family. The thing is, people just nod and say yeah instead of giving you useless output. AI forces you to sharpen your thinking. That clarity transfers to every conversation you have. Your business exists for a reason beyond money. Fortune 500 companies are in it primarily for profits. You're not. There's something about the business you chose that matters deeply to you. That's your competitive advantage. That said, most trapped entrepreneurs have never articulated it clearly, even to themselves. Russell's process forces that clarity to the surface. Universal themes are too broad for modern marketing. Acceptance, freedom, success. These words mean everything and nothing. Russell's system takes your broad theme and drills down through AI generated synonyms with custom definitions until you find the word that actually matches what's in your head. Then every piece of communication filters through that laser focused message. Let AI do the grunt work while you make the choices. Request 100 synonyms with custom definitions. Have AI narrow to the top 10 based on what you're trying to achieve. You pick the winner. Don't like it? Do another 100. This takes minutes, not hours. The human stays in control of meaning while the machine handles volume. Context is everything, for AI and for your business. Russell's students learn advanced context before they touch AI tools. One company's customer service AI handled millions of tickets brilliantly, optimising for speed. It destroyed customer relationships because the intent was wrong. Speed wasn't what customers needed. Your messaging needs the right intent before you scale it. GOLDEN QUOTES WORTH REMEMBERING "We as small businesses to medium sized businesses, we're doing this for a reason. Yes, we have to make a paycheck, we have to make a living. That said, we want our customers to succeed." - Russell Van Brocklen "The AI allowed me to take everything that I dumped in and come up with that idea." - Russell Van Brocklen "Once we hit grad school, we own the place." - Russell Van Brocklen, on dyslexic entrepreneurs "If you can write, you can read." - Russell Van Brocklen, book title that emerged from his AI clarity process "There are six sharks. Guess how many are dyslexic? Three of them. Dyslexics make up less than 10% of the population. Half the sharks are dyslexic." - Russell Van Brocklen QUICK NAVIGATION FOR BUSY LEADERS 00:00 - Introduction: Meeting the Dyslexic Professor and his unconventional path 02:15 - The Assembly Internship: How showing up with a neuropsychological evaluation changed everything 05:30 - Law School Breakthrough: Learning to read and write at grad school level within months 08:45 - The New York State Research: Seven grade level leaps for less than 900 dollars per student 11:20 - AI and Communication Clarity: What chatbots teach us about how we actually communicate 14:00 - The Universal Theme Process: Finding your laser focused message using AI as grunt work 17:30 - Practical Application: How Russell developed his book title and course messaging 19:45 - Dyslexia and Business: Why half the Shark Tank sharks share this trait 21:30 - Next Steps: The book, the course, and the path to TEDx GUEST SPOTLIGHT Name: Russell Van Brocklen Bio: Russell Van Brocklen, known as The Dyslexic Professor, is a New York State Senate funded dyslexia researcher whose word analysis methodology produced remarkable results. Students moved from middle school writing to graduate level work in a single school year, all for less than 900 dollars per student. Request 100 synonyms with custom definitions for that word. Find your laser focused universal theme. This Quarter: Filter every piece of communication through your chosen word and definition.
