    293. The Lost Art of Being Home

Send us Fan Mail Episode 293 — The Lost Art of Being Home When did home become the place we rush through on the way to everything else? In this episode of Nourished Connections, I’m talking about the lost art of simply being home—and why I think we need to rediscover it. So much of modern life pulls us outward. Work, errands, activities, appointments, sports, shopping, screens, and constant entertainment can leave us spending less and less time actually enjoying the homes we work so hard to create. I’m sharing thoughts on why being home matters, how staying home can strengthen family connection, save money, encourage creativity, and create space for rest. We’ll also talk about the difference between physically being at home and actually being present there, why kids need boredom sometimes, and how to create a home that your family genuinely enjoys spending time in. This is not about isolating ourselves from the world. It is about remembering that some of the most meaningful parts of life can happen right inside our own four walls. If you’d like more encouragement and practical ideas for creating a cozy, intentional home, I’d love to have you join my Cozy Homemaker Circle on Facebook. 292. Your Home Doesn’t Have to Be Perfect to Feel Good

Send us Fan Mail Have you ever looked around your home and immediately started noticing everything that still needs to be cleaned, organized, decorated, or fixed? In this episode of Nourished Connections, I’m talking about the difference between creating a perfect home and creating a home that simply feels good to live in. We’ll talk about why perfection can become exhausting, how comparison can make us feel like our homes are never enough, and why the way a home feels often matters more than how it looks. I’m also sharing simple ways to make your home feel calmer and more inviting without spending all day cleaning or trying to finish every project. A good home does not need to impress people. It needs to support the people who live there. If you’d like more encouragement, practical homemaking ideas, and community, I’d love to have you join my Cozy Homemaker Circle on Facebook. 291. When You Don’t Feel Like Doing Anything: Do You Need Motivation—or Do You Need Rest?

Send us Fan Mail When You Don’t Feel Like Doing Anything: Do You Need Motivation—or Do You Need Rest? Have you ever had one of those days when you just don’t want to do anything—but you also don’t want to do nothing? That was me today. I had things I wanted to accomplish, I knew I should exercise, and I wanted to feel motivated… but I just couldn’t seem to get myself going. Eventually, I decided to lie down, slept for two hours, and woke up feeling so much better. It made me wonder: how often do we assume we need more discipline when what we actually need is rest? In this episode of Nourished Connections, I’m talking about the difference between being unmotivated, overwhelmed, and genuinely tired. We’ll talk about why rest is an important part of homemaking, why you don’t have to earn your rest, and how to recognize when you need to push yourself a little—and when you need to give yourself permission to stop. Because good homemaking isn’t about squeezing the maximum amount of productivity out of every day. It’s about wisely caring for your home, your family, your time, your energy—and yourself. If you’d like more encouragement and practical ideas for creating a cozy, intentional home, I’d love to have you join my Cozy Homemaker Circle on Facebook. 290. When You Have to Tighten the Belt

Send us Fan Mail In Episode 290 of Nourished Connections, I’m talking about something nearly every family experiences at some point: seasons when money feels tighter and we have to make some adjustments. Life has a way of moving through seasons of plenty and seasons where we need to be more careful, resourceful, and intentional. In this episode, I’m sharing practical ways to save money, reduce unnecessary spending, stretch your grocery budget, use what you already have, and make your home work harder for your family. We’ll also talk about why homemaking skills are financial skills, how to avoid comparison, why knowing your actual numbers matters, and how to prepare during the good seasons so the harder ones do not feel quite so overwhelming. This episode is not about living in fear or deprivation. It is about learning to be a wise steward of what you have and creating a home that can adapt, endure, and still feel nourishing even when you have to tighten the belt. And if you’d like more encouragement, practical homemaking ideas, and a community of women working toward the same things, I’d love to have you join my Cozy Homemaker Circle on Facebook. 289. What Running a Farmstand Taught me About Running a Home

Send us Fan Mail In this episode of Nourished Connections, I’m sharing what running a neighborhood farmstand has taught me about homemaking. At first glance, baking bread, stocking shelves, setting out signs, and welcoming customers may seem very different from caring for a home. But I’ve realized they require many of the same things: preparation, consistency, flexibility, creativity, and a willingness to keep showing up—even when much of the work goes unnoticed. I’ll share lessons I’ve learned about creating a welcoming space, working with different seasons, choosing what matters most, building trust through consistency, and recognizing the value of the work that happens behind the scenes. We’ll also talk about why a nourishing home does not require perfection, why we cannot do everything at once, and why the well-being of the homemaker matters just as much as the needs of the household. My little farmstand has reminded me that small acts of care, repeated over time, can grow into something deeply meaningful—both in our neighborhoods and within our homes. To me, homemaking is about so much more than cleaning, cooking, or keeping a beautiful house. It is the intentional work of creating a home where the people we love feel safe, supported, connected, capable, and cared for. In this episode, I’m sharing why I’m coming back to podcasting, how my understanding of homemaking has grown, and what you can expect from this new season of Nourished Connections. We’ll be talking about practical homemaking, family relationships, faith, cooking, motherhood, hospitality, teaching children important life skills, and finding purpose in the everyday work of home.
