Megan Gale Has Found Her Voice

Megan Gale was a superstar in Italy before Australians knew who she was. She'd been ready to give up modelling when she landed a life-changing gig in Italy in the nineties. Her sudden fame overseas meant Australia finally learned her name and she spent a few years juggling careers in different countries. She was the face of David Jones for nearly two decades. When the time came to start thinking about life outside modelling, she had a crack at acting and found herself cast as Wonderwoman years before the 2017 film made Gal Gadot a star. Megan's now a Lady Startup and a mother of two, married to AFL/Survivor star Shaun Hampson. In this episode of No Filter, Megan talks Mia through her life as a model, becoming a Lady Startup and having a miscarriage... all in the public eye. Gabbie Stroud Has A Few Things She Wants School Parents To Know

Here are some things worth knowing about school life: Teachers aren't on call for parents 24/7... and under no circumstances should a parent ever follow a teacher home from school to talk about their child. Seriously. That happens. Gabbie left teaching a few years ago and did odd jobs like cleaning while she wrote her first book, the best-selling 'Teacher'. She's back now with a new book, 'Dear Parents', a sometimes uncomfortable look at how easy it is for parents to cross boundaries with teachers. In this episode, she joins Mia Freedman to talk about how parents can negotiate that relationship with the other adult in their children's lives... the teacher. When You Realise Your Parents Aren't Bulletproof

There is a stage in everyone’s life where you realise your parents are not bulletproof. For some of us that comes when our mum or dad starts forgetting things or when they go through a period of unexpected turmoil. But for many of us, it often comes when a parent suddenly becomes unwell. When journalist, author and screenwriter Amal Awad’s father was diagnosed with kidney failure, she made a surprising decision that changed so much for them and for her. In this episode, she joins Mia Freedman to talk about how, if we ever are going to truly get to know our parents, as people… it is going to happen in adulthood. Click here to subscribe to No Filter. Ellie Cole Defied Expectations

Ellie doesn't remember much about losing her leg and she grew up with a family who treated her like everyone else, so she set about ticking off every single item on that doctor's list. Since then, she has gone on to win 15 Paralympic medals in the pool, spending over half her life on the Australian swim team and she joins Mia Freedman to talk about it. Meghan, Diana & What Happens When Strong Women Stand Up To The Royals

When Meghan Markle and Prince Harry announced they were leaving the royal family the commentary went one of two ways: how very dare they and good on them. But so much of the vitriol was aimed at Meghan and if we look back at history, it tells a chilling tale of what happens to women when they don't fit the perceived idea of what a “princess” should be. In this episode, Mia is joined by journalist, author and broadcaster Dr Julia Baird, who along with having a PHD in history and a book on how female politicians are perceived in the media, has trawled the royal archives to write the biography of Queen Victoria. She joins Mia here to talk about Meghan and Harry, women who flip the royal script and why the world has a problem with women in power. Click here to subscribe to No Filter. Tim Minchin: Success, Failure, Family and Coming Home

Here's what we know about Tim Minchin. He's an actor, writer, composer, lyristist and director. But he’s also a self-described nerd, who became wildly famous after the success of Matilda and then fell from grace when an animated film he was working on for 4 years got shut down. In this interview, he talks to Mia about being battered by America, the feeling of knowing your most successful work could be behind you and how in his line of work he has made a choice to be monogamous and put family first. He also has a new TV show called Upright that he is unashamedly proud of and we absolutely loved. You can watch it on Foxtel now! Click here to subscribe to No Filter. Best Of: The Story Of Marian Keyes

Welcome to our summer series where we play you some of our favourite episodes that you might have missed or might want to revisit. Marian Keyes is one of the most successful authors in the world. She’s sold 35 million books in 35 languages and she’s done that by writing about women’s lives….in all their messiness. She writes the words and the feelings that are inside your head and she makes women feel seen and heard and understood. In a laugh out loud way. She’s able to do this because she - like most of us - has had some bloody tough times in her own life.
