Luke Thomas Gets Political

Welcome to LTGP – Luke Thomas Gets Political. Luke Thomas is a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, a husband, a father, and a longtime resident of Washington, DC. After years of sharp analysis in the combat sports world, he brings that same unapologetic depth, intellectual rigor, and sharp commentary to a different kind of arena: politics. This channel is the official home for Luke’s political takes. Here you'll find the issues shaping our world, the debates that matter, and the conversations many have asked him to take on outside of the fight game. Whether it's thoughtful analysis, no-nonsense monologues, or a brutally honest perspective, this is where combat-sports logic meets political discourse. No tribalism. No spin. Just straight talk. They Figured Out How the Israel Lobby Works | Eli Clifton, Ian Lustick Interview | Luke Thomas

Historically, discussing the Israel lobby and its impacts in the United States has come with a variety of challenges. Professors John Mearsheimer and Stephen Walt earned enormous blowback in 2007 when they tried to simply argue there was such a thing as the Israel lobby. While now the existence of the loose federation of donors, organizations and activists isn’t necessarily contested, few actually understand how they operate, who funds them and perhaps most importantly, how their efforts influence our lives and government’s priorities. That’s where today’s conversation comes into play. In their latest book, investigative journalist Eli Clifton and political science professor Ian Lustick combine their expertises to explain what they call “the greatest story in geopolitics”, namely, how American domestic and foreign affairs are massively influenced by the Israel lobby, who seek to police our speech and cajole our national security apparatus to back “unpopular, costly and national security-threatening politics.” This book deserves consideration because it illuminates what has long been hidden or poorly understood. Clifton and Lustick chronicle how the lobby came to be and why its aims have changed over time. They also expertly detail how its funding has grown and how those impacts have been felt plus the tactics it uses to deliver for the interests of Israel. Most importantly, they leave us with a warning that the Israel lobby hasn’t merely degraded and frustrated American foreign policy for decades, but now actively seeks to turn their efforts toward the rest of American society, attempting to curtail our freedoms at home. #israel #gaza #lukethomas TIMESTAMPS: 00:00 Open 01:34 The Israel lobby’s response to the book 04:52 Support from the publisher to get the book printed 07:00 What is the Israel lobby? 11:54 The changing tactics of the lobby 15:50 Changes to Israeli society and how that’s influencing U.S. politics 21:37 The state and failure of the Israeli left 26:39 How the lobby is funded and how that’s changed 33:12 How the lobby was changed by Citizens United 34:22 Lobby and media coordination aligning against Abdul El Sayed 38:00 Israeli support in the Democratic Party 47:44 How the lobby has undermined U.S. Presidents 51:12 What is the IHRA antisemitism definition? 55:24 How this definition is policing speech 59:07 What can an average voter do to push back?

Andrew Tate has ruined a generation of men | Luke Thomas

Luke Thomas: The Cornell Seven case exposes how sexual violence gets excused when the accused are athletes, fraternity brothers, or celebrities like Conor McGregor. A viewer asks what men should actually do when accused rapists are celebrated as sports heroes, and the answer is more uncomfortable than a simple yes or no. The conversation moves from the Snapchat group chat at the center of the Cornell fraternity case to the broader culture of impunity in MMA, where fighters hype Andrew Tate and fans shrug at serious allegations. There is a personal story about a female Marine who kept years of harassment to herself, and a blunt argument that most men have no scale for how much women navigate on campuses, in workplaces, and in the military. Then the case itself: New York Governor Kathy Hochul has appointed Letitia James as special prosecutor, the governor’s own statement signals distrust of the local district attorney, and new evidence keeps surfacing. Whether or not criminal charges follow, the question of what these seven men did to Jane Doe is not a close call. From there, a harder look at what is ailing young men. Fraternity houses as problem institutions. Porn as the primary sex education of a generation. Political leadership that modeled “grab them by the pussy” to boys who are now in their twenties. And finally, why the right’s response to Cornell lands the way it does, and why the left spends so much energy critiquing centrists instead of MAGA. What Happens to MAGA After Trump’s GONE? | Luke Thomas Gets Political

If MAGA loses the midterms, what happens to the celebrities and politicians who backed it? Luke Thomas says the answer depends on the Democrats, because winning power back means nothing without a theory of governing, and Zohran Mamdani is the one Democrat proving what that actually looks like. Luke walks through why he thinks MAGA comes apart as a coalition after Trump but is not convinced a big midterm loss makes being formerly MAGA politically toxic yet. Then he pivots to the part he cannot stress enough: Democrats only talk about winning elections. Mamdani is governing big and small at the same time, from childcare and late-night rec centers to cleaned-up playgrounds and 70,000 arts tickets, and his approval is still climbing nine months in. Luke calls it the most pro-social governing he has seen in years and argues that is how the left wins. A viewer pushes back on Luke's take that California had leverage in the Warner Bros merger fight. Luke does not budge. They won the TRO, the Paramount threat was a bluff, and the party still folded. His verdict on a party that has made surrender part of its culture is not gentle. Billionaires Are LOOTING the Economy, VANDALIZING Democracy | Luke Thomas Gets Political

Luke Thomas: Gavin Newsom helped pressure California into a settlement on the Paramount Warner Bros merger, and Luke Thomas breaks down why the deal is a sellout, why the fine print is nearly worthless, and why a company just threatened its way out of antitrust enforcement. A viewer who is done with Newsom over Gaza, Medicare for All, and a week of pro-union vetoes gets Luke's full answer. Luke starts by addressing the accusation that he is a hardcore Democrat. He is not. There is nothing in the party's DNA committed to battle except defending Israel, and the California Democratic Party is the most impotent of all. Twelve attorneys general won a TRO, a judge called their arguments compelling, and then David Ellison leaked that Paramount would move to Nashville. Becerra, Karen Bass, and Newsom all publicly pushed for a deal, and Rob Bonta delivered one. What is actually in that deal? A theatrical release quota that can be met with old movies, a combined company agreeing to make fewer films than the two made separately, and a force majeure clause that voids everything in a recession or a strike. Luke walks through each piece and then zooms out to the bigger problem: an age of vandals and looters who rewrite the rules with billions of dollars while everyone is told to panic about farmworkers and high school swimmers. Hasan Piker Is RIGHT. Media Can’t Handle It | Luke Thomas Gets Political

Hasan Piker is being attacked for saying America does a lot of bad in the world, and Luke Thomas says the outrage is absurd while Trump sends gas prices to the stratosphere, kidnaps Venezuela's president, blockades Cuba, and deports an Ecuadorian opposition figure into the arms of his torturers. Luke argues Piker is a million percent right to point at what the United States is doing, and that Martin Luther King said nothing dissimilar about the greatest purveyor of violence in his lifetime. The real question is whether Americans can find the urgency, attention, and resources to fix their own problems while fixated on an Axios interview. He points to military families put through hell under Bush and Obama, friends who came back from deployments as a mess, and a president threatening to demolish the Kennedy Center over his name. The class that benefits from the current world order, Luke says, has acolytes throughout media, finance, and academia who do not want these conversations to happen. The segment then turns personal. A viewer congratulates Luke on the political channel's growth and asks if it feels less dirty than MMA. That leads to a furious tour of what Trump is doing to Washington DC as Luke sees it every day: National Guard troops in luxury housing at up to six million dollars a day, fencing around the Kennedy Center, the Tidal Basin looking hurricane-struck, trees coming down at East Potomac, gold wrapping on the war statues by Arlington, and a planned Trump arch. Luke calls it the worst DC has looked since Marion Barry and explains why politics coverage lets him be honest in ways the MMA business quietly discouraged. Kanye’s Comeback Proves We Live In MORAL DECLINE

Luke Thomas: Kanye West had apologized for his past insanity but Luke says that shouldn't mean too much, because the racism and antisemitism were never actually atoned for. The bigger question is why he gets to headline a tour anyway, and what that says about an era of moral decline where accountability barely factors into anyone's decisions. Luke connects the Kanye question to a broader shift: celebrities are finally speaking out on Israel and Gaza and distancing themselves from it. He points to precedents like John McEnroe refusing to play apartheid South Africa and the Beastie Boys' Tibet activism, and argues that the more social pressure that can be brought against the Israeli lobby, the better, even if some of these celebrities are only doing it for image. The live chat also gets into why Luke no longer engages with the MMA world on politics, a sincere answer to a 30-year-old asking where to start and who to trust, and the news that Canada's government has modeled a response to a potential US invasion. Luke's take on what the Canadian military concluded is worth hearing. Weekend at Bernie’s: MITCH MCCONNELL Edition Must End | Luke Thomas Gets Political

Luke Thomas: Mitch McConnell can barely speak, yet he is still being wheeled through the US Senate to vote, and Luke Thomas argues the real scandal is that both parties treat this gerontocracy as normal. From Dianne Feinstein to Joe Biden to McConnell, Washington keeps propping up leaders in visible cognitive decline while staff quietly run the office. Luke opens with a viewer question: should anyone involved in the McConnell situation face legal consequences? That leads into a bigger conversation about what happens when Congress and the presidency become places where people die in office instead of stepping down. He walks through the Democratic precedent, the questions that were never answered about Biden, and why he is less worried about Trump 2028 than he used to be, even as the former president's own decline becomes harder to ignore. How Israel used the US media to sell a Genocide | Luke Thomas

Luke Thomas: How the US and Western media sold a genocide in Gaza. Luke explains how an existing playbook was used by Israel to try and excuse, justify and deny its genocide against Palestine. Luke argues that what shifted public understanding was not traditional media but the New York Times or the Washington Post but social media and non-Western outlets, including Al Jazeera crews who were killed doing the job, in a conflict he says became the deadliest for journalists in modern history. He walks through why he sees the ceasefire as not real, why the policy from Biden to Trump has not moved, and why his own view was shaped early by his Lebanese mother. Then he explains the string that people like Scott Galloway refuse to pull: October 7th leads to Hamas, Hamas leads to the occupation, and the occupation leads to the Nakba and questions about the entire project. Joe Rogan’s Endorsement Was Almost UNFORGIVABLE

Can Joe Rogan redeem himself after endorsing Trump? Luke Thomas says everyone deserves grace, but Rogan laundered the reputation of MAGA's inner circle and helped make ideas palatable that are now wrecking ordinary lives, from mass deportations to the gutting of the university system. A viewer question about Rogan opens into a broader argument about what the right is doing to the institutions that built American prosperity. Luke walks through the damage: the largest mass firing of PhDs in history, research funding torched, alliances discarded, and a food supply so shaky that a restaurant-owner friend called him personally to warn him off eating beef. The people doing this, he argues, disdain the very things responsible for American greatness because they never rose through them. Elephant Graveyard NAILED Who Joe Rogan Really Is

Luke Thomas: Elephant Graveyard's final Rogan video nails who Joe Rogan is now and his relationship with Peter Thiel. Luke explains why it hit close to home. Then Dave Portnoy defends billionaires colluding to keep Macklemore off stage, and Luke calls it comical on its face. A viewer asks whether Rogan is simply not a good person. Luke, having interacted with him for years, is hesitant to go that far, but says Rogan is easily duped and gives little thought to the motivations of the people he platforms, which is his own fault. That leads to a candid reflection on Luke's own slow withdrawal from MMA over the past two years. Luke Thomas: Israel IGNORED Direct Oct 7 Warning From UAE Leader

Luke Thomas: A Haaretz report says the UAE's leader warned Netanyahu directly before October 7, and that Hamas offered a hostage deal on October 7 and again on October 8 that Israel turned down. Luke Thomas breaks down what this means for everything we were told about the Gaza war. The reporting, drawn from a book by a veteran Israeli journalist, describes a warning that went leader to leader, not just intel agency to intel agency. Netanyahu's response was to threaten a lawsuit against Israel's largest newspaper. Then the UAE put out its own statement that appeared to confirm the story. Luke walks through the other pieces of the puzzle too: earlier signs that Mossad knew an "earthquake" was coming, the music festival that was reportedly supposed to be held somewhere else, and Yahya Sinwar's calculation that Hamas had no path out of the blockade without forcing a deal. The part that hits hardest is the hostages. For two years, the argument was simple: release the hostages and the bombing stops. According to this report, Hamas was trying to make that deal before, during, and the day after the attack, and Israel rejected it in favor of maximum damage. Luke asks where the apologies are from everyone who repeated that line, and what it says about a conflict where a child death toll on the scale of Uvalde could have happened every single day since October 7 and still not match the real number.
