In this episode of Light Among Peers, I read Genesis Chapters 10 and 11 together. Chapter 10 presents the "Table of Nations," mapping the descendants of Noah's sons (Japheth, Ham, and Shem) and the spread of peoples across the ancient world. Chapter 11 then shows humanity's unified rebellion at Babel — building a tower to make a name for themselves — followed by God confusing their languages and scattering them across the earth. In historical context, these chapters explain the origin of diverse nations and languages while setting the stage for God's redemptive plan through Abraham's family. A timely reminder of human pride, the limits of our ambitions, and how God sovereignly directs history.
