There are several new developments on the immigration front today. The Trump administration has issued a pause on immigrant visa appointments for applicants around the world. Plus, a visa to allow foreign professionals to live and work in the country could see a six-figure fee… about $103,000. Oh, and the administration is also cancelling 200,000 visas for asylum seekers. Housing costs reach new high in Salt Lake County, driving many to look at other places along the Wasatch Front

New data out from the Salt Lake Board of Realtors says homebuyers in the county need to earn nearly $187,000 a year. That's because the median home price in Salt Lake County is now at a record high of $645,000. YIKES! The higher prices have many looking outside of Salt Lake County, but where are they going? Meta reaches landmark settlement with states -- including Utah -- over social media harm
Meta has agreed to a massive settlement with several states -- including Utah -- in a lawsuit over whether their platforms hurt children. The settlement includes safety measures like daily time limits and age-appropriate content controls. The state will also receive at least $212 million through this. Attorney General Derek Brown joins Inside Sources to explain what's in the settlement and the journey it took to get to this point. Goodbye Dolly: The legacy she leaves behind in Utah with her Imagination Library
As we celebrate the life of Dolly Parton and the joy and inspiration she brought to sooooooo many people, we would be remiss to not mention her philanthropy. For example, she's given hundreds of millions of books to young children -- absolutely free -- through Dolly's Imagination Library. The program is in Utah but only on a small scale. In order for things to grow and more kids to get access to these free books, legislation is needed. Kristin Andrus is the founder of Gathering for Impact and is helping to lead the charge to get legislation passed here that would expand the Imagination Library.

Man whose conviction and death sentence was overturned by Utah Supreme Court returns to court
Should a man whose conviction in a death row murder case was overturned be allowed out on bail while awaiting his new trial? That's the one of the questions at the heart of a legal hearing going on today for Douglas Carter. He had been convicted of murdering Eva Olesen in the 1980s and was sentenced to death. But the Utah Supreme Court overturned his conviction last year, and he's been sitting in the Utah County Jail since then. The state's planning to retry the case but in the meantime, what happens to Douglas Carter? KSL Legal Analyst Greg Skordas gives his takes on this unique situation. As we planned today's show, we started talking more about convictions being overturned. When that happens, what generally happens to the person who spent years in jail or prison for something they didn't do? We broaden the conversation and bring in someone who works to get convictions overturned. Greg and Holly are joined by Kristy Columbia, the Executive Director of the Rocky Mountain Innocence Project.

Baby bear prompts warnings in Sanpete County
One baby bear must have been on the search for more than the bare necessities when he wound up near two schools in Sanpete County. It happened yesterday near Mt. Pleasant Elementary and North Sanpete High School. Those schools were placed on a secure status while officials looked for mama bear. They didn't find the mama bear, but the baby bear certainly is cute.

Could the state expand its Lemon Laws?
Do lemon cars have you feeling sour? You're certainly not alone! Utah has a Lemon Law to help with these kinds of cars -- cars that generally have persistent safety, value, or utility issues. The law here only applies to new cars, not used cars. But maybe that could change? Holly and Greg talk about calls from the head of Utah's consumer protection division to expand the Lemon Law to used vehicles.

New Utah school district already looking at possibly closing schools
The school year that just started is the final school year for the Alpine School District in Utah County. We spoke with the superintendent of that district last week, and he told us about some of the plans the district is working on before the split into three districts next year. Now, we're learning about a study that could result in the closure of several schools within one of those new districts: the Timpanogos District. This one covers Orem, Pleasant Grove, Lindon, and Vineyard. Ahead of a public meeting tomorrow night about the study, Holly and Greg chat with Tyler Vigue, Director of Communications for the Timpanogos School District.

Nevada sues over new water usage plan for the Colorado River
And the lawsuits begin! Nevada -- a lower Colorado River basin state -- is now suing the Trump Administration over its plans for the future of the river. The state says they do not want to cut its water usage. In fact, they say they can't. Their suit has some pretty stark reactions from Utah state leaders, with Speaker Mike Schultz saying the lawsuit makes a difficult situation even more difficult.

Son of man who spent years on Utah's death row speaks out
A man who spent decades on Utah's death row and is now facing a new trial for aggravated murder is expected to learn more about his potential future tomorrow. Douglas Carter was convicted of murdering Eva Olesen in 1985. But new information -- plus misconduct by police and prosecutors during his original trial -- resulted in his conviction and death sentence being overturned by the Utah Supreme Court. As attorneys prepare for a new trial, Carter's biological son is speaking publicly for the first time about this whole process and experience, and how learning who his father was at 18 has dictated much of his adult life. KSL spoke exclusively with Tyler Anger and his wife, Melissa, about the experience. Ask the Attorney: K-9 handler in Colorado receives immunity after K-9 officer
A family in Colorado is facing $300,000 in medical debt, more than two years after a K-9 officer living next door climbed the fence and attacked a two-year-old girl and her father. Recently, the K-9 handler was found 'not guilty' in the incident because he has immunity as a member of law enforcement doing his official duties -- in this case, he was cleaning the K-9 officer's cage.
