Kontrarian Korner #146 - Dr. Jeremy Heffner & E.M. Burlingame

Yesterday I had Dr. Jeremy Heffner and E.M. Burlingame on the podcast for a conversation I have been looking forward to for some time. We talked about the nuances of AI, why each model is unique, and how it is going to change things moving forward. We also covered some of the high level societal problems, from the medical system to status hierarchies and the cyclical nature of history. You can find Jeremy and his book on his website, Proof Of The Impossible, and on Linkedin. You can find E.M.’s Substack below, but he’s also worth a follow on Twitter. Podcast Summary * Where AI is headed and why each model is unique. * How we could be creating idiocracy as more and more people rely on AI tools and expertise is lost. * Why incentives drive everything about human behavior. * The “Data Overton” window, and how all academic and medical data is skewed and bias towards an outcome. * How the medical system is broken and the importance of sovereignty. * Why humans aren’t equal and how status hierarchies are obvious, even if most people don’t talk openly about them. * The cyclical nature of history and why weak men create hard times. * Why the theme of all of these discussions is the disconnect from reality. * The difference between a negative vision and a positive vision for the future. * The importance of women, why they have been targeted, and the old dynastic families. * The Praetorian problem and what it means for the high net worth families.
