S2 E7 - Resilience for job seekers (and others)

In this episode of H.I.R.E.D Trevor and Paul are joined by Roger Lawrence. Roger is a current job seeker with a very deep and rich back story. He is a man of many talents and stories. Rogers walks through a number of stories to illustrate his version of resilience and introduces us to the term "anti fragility". Roger also explains how he sees resilience and stubbornness as being different things (and explains this is a very useful way). Roger also shares how he and his wife became engaged to marry on their first date. This is a very interesting tale. Trevor's soapbox makes an appearance, although, in a more mellow format this time around. Trevor talks about community and it's importance. Paul does his things asking questions and trying to curb Trevor's enthusiasm for launching into song (which he does twice in this episode). As always, thank you for listening. Whether you are a first time, or long time listener, we thank you for having a listen to H.I.R.E.D podcast.

S2 E6 ATS - What it is, isn't and myth busting

Welcome back to our 6th episode of season 2. We appreciate you choosing to listen to H.I.R.E.D. A podcast that is created to help support job seekers (or those with an interest in this area) with information, support and a bit of a laugh. In this information we take on the mighty ATS beast (Applicant Tracking System). If you've followed social media you've likely become aware of the mythology that has built up around this software. Our guest is Heath Brennan. Heath is The founder and Principal of Brennan Sourcing. Heath has an enormous amount of experience in recruiting and brings his expertise to this podcast episode. He also brings his passion for Dad jokes (listen closely during Trevor's closing lines as Heath sneaks in a quick joke). Heath talks directly about what ATS is and isn't. Along the way "dragons are slayed". Myths are shattered. Trevor introduces a new game that we may never repeat (maybe 😏). We may have set a world record for use of a particular word in a short space of time (Guinness World Records feel free to let us know). Trevor's soapbox makes an appearance and Trevor fires up with passion and a touch of bemusement and annoyance. Paul get's busy asking questions and trying to keep the episode on track. This is a fun episode that is full of very useful information and a good measure of fun and laughs. It also features one or two Dad jokes. From all at H.I.R.E.D podcast we hope you enjoy this show. You can reach out to Paul and Trevor through comments on the podcast or at the H.I.R.E.D podcast LinkedIn page https://www.linkedin.com/company/h-i-r-e-d-podcast/Reach out, say hello, let us know what you would like us to cover. S2E5 - Bridging from jobseeker to employed

The goal of job seeking is finding a job that you want. If you're a job seeker, chances are that you're not really enjoying being unemployed. It's not a fun place, but, finding balance, which includes finding some enjoyment and fun, is critical to surviving and functioning. In the episode Trevor and Paul talk to special guest Phil Kan about his tactics to stay upbeat when job hunting. Phil found himself job hunting for 15 months, so he gathered quite a few stories and bits of wisdom along the way. Paul spends part of this episode adding a few hints and tips of his own from his period of job seeking. Trevor's Soapbox makes another appearance. A serious topic and sober discussion is served up with just enough laughter and lighter moments to make this episode both educational and entertaining. If you're a long time listening of H.I.R.E.D, we thanks you. If you're a new listener, thank you for choosing to give our podcast a try. In this episode, Trevor and Paul are joined by special guest Travis Newing. The topic of discussion is The Hustle Game as invented by Trevor and offered through his company Talentology AU. We dive into the game, it's history, evolution, benefits and where it may go in the future. This game could well be the first of its type in the world. Travis talks about his participation in The Hustle Game and the ways in which it helped him. As somebody who feels that The Hustle Game helped him "structure up" to move from unemployed to employed, he makes some poignant observations. Along the way we talk about blue smarties (no really, we do) including Travis having a high school project dedicated to them. We'd love you to join us for the serious bits and the laughs as we navigate our way through another podcast. If you're a H.I.R.E.D listener and follower, thank you. S1 E3: Ghosting - the jobseeker perspective

It’s disrespectful, draining, and the opposite of making you feel happy and valued. In this episode, Trevor, Paul, and special guest Stephen Holland discuss ghosting from a job seeker’s perspective. We explore why it happens and share positive behaviours and actions you can take in response. We also announce an exciting new competition for our listeners.
